The Great HuriQuake
August (what day is it) 2011
It is the 30th.
Thank you to everyone. I am now home safe with power and internet. What a ride! That Big Girl Irene as OGal calls her is one tough broad. We personified her even further giving her a big yellow hat. You should hear her accent. More to follow once I recover from the road trips.
And thank you Levi for your work.
Timeline:
23 August Tue Virginia Earthquake
24 August Wed threat of Irene but still hope as models keep shifting right (East)
25 August Thu trouble again, models shift left (West), shelter sought, to north and west. Usual safe shelters not.
26 August Friday lost and found, repeatedly. Drove on roller coaster road from nightmares which led me just where I needed to be, safe, loving harbour.
29 August Mon On the road. Powerless. Beautiful quiet. No water, no fresh batteries. Ancient 2005 expired batteries miraculously still worked. Broken glasses replaced by new ones that magically appeared at my right hand. So dark cannot see hand in front of face. No moon.
30 August Tue HOME! All is well. No damage, no power loss, no roof leaks.
Thank you Miss Irene.

LOL. I picture her hat garish bright yellow with flowers. Glad you're home.
:)
What a week. I hope each of you are doing well. I sure wish we could get some rain for Texas and Oklahoma. I worry about Shore and BF out there in the middlelands suffering with this heat
Everything's okay here. Two cloudy days in a row, keeping the temps under 100 at my house. I think a change is coming. Not necessarily rain but at least the natural cool down as we head into Fall.

I can just visualize Big Girl Irene's yellow hat. By the time she hit Maine that hat was hanging in shreds, soaking wet. She was a very bad girl and ended up gettin bu--kicked in Canada. Hope your day was awesome and that Irene is not in your dreams.
I did worry
about the YellowHat while
it did roam...
And Huri, she did run
But came back with shining Sun
and happily dear Huri
is now home.
A name as pretty as the sea
Gifted with words
as powerful as could be
Stirred up trouble
gets out of her way
Transformed by kindness
a beautiful new day
The years, they fly...yet love, never shall die.
Glad you are back.
Thanks for the update and glad you made it without damage at home..
Ms Irene was a nasty little girl to many areas, still all the flooding going on is not good.
so happy you are back safe and sound at home.
You had a lot of friends checking in on your blog; we sort of knew you had taken off... and glad you did!!!
Happy Wednessday.
Good morning - White Rabbits, White Rabbits, White Rabbits and a very happy and safe month to you!
Already September - the last third of the year!
I visited my beloved Atlantic.
There has been a bit of erosion and debris remains.
I would say that MY beach is half the depth that it was and that is just perfect for me. Without my usual accoutrement, I rolled in the sand in my business wardrobe and my soul danced with the dolphins that were playing in the surf, flying and diving. What the heck. This was the last day to wear my seersucker suit before the after-the-Labor Day-restriction is imposed.
I remember all those "fashion" restrictions..
No white shoes after Labor Day or again until Easter.
Only "winter white" allowed for clothing
make the switch from "summer" hand bags to winter ones..
At least here in SE Florida it is tropical most of the time! LOL
Glad you got some good face time with your beloved Atlantic... sounds nice.
Enjoy your weekend!

Oh dear can you believe it is already October!
Winter will be here soon and you will be getting the cold weather again.
But time goes by so quickly these days it will be summer again before we know it.
Have a great weekend.
Happy October!

Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adders fork, and blind-worms sting,
Lizards leg, and owlets wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

From our Home to Yours
Merry Christmas and a Healthy & Happy New Year 2012!
"And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow,
stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons.
It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags.
And he puzzled and puzzled, till his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn%u2019t before.
What if Christmas, he thought, doesn%u2019t come from a store.
What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more."
- Dr. Seuss
