'When my grandmother got arthritis , she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore.. So my grandfather does it for her all the time , even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love.'

Rebecca- age 8

'When someone loves you , the way they say your name is different.
You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.'

Billy - age 4

'Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.'

Karl - age 5

'Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.'

Chrissy - age 6

'Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.'

Terri - age 4

'Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him , to make sure the taste is OK.'

Danny - age 7

'Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing , you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that.
They look gross when they kiss'

Emily - age 8

'Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents
and listen.'

Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

'If you want to learn to love better , you should start with a friend who you hate , '

Nikka - age 6

'Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt , then he wears it everyday.'

Noelle - age 7

'Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.'

Chris - age 7

'Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.'

Mary Ann - age 4

'I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.'

Lauren - age 4

'When you love somebody , your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.'(what an image)

Karen - age 7

'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross..'

Mark - age 6

'You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it , you should say it a lot. People forget.'

Jessica - age 8
And the final one

The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.

Upon seeing the man cry , the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard , climbed onto his lap , and just sat there.

When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor , the little boy said ,

'Nothing , I just helped him cry'

Well as for disposing of ash, you do not put it close to your outside wall to the house either, as my daughter in law found out. After losing a sliding glass door they got it out. Its amazing that the least little thing can explode into something enormous. And it is amazing to me how they always find out how the fire starts.
The man came forward and admitted it.

OH my gosh. Horrible. We had a similar story here where someone thought setting the ash bucket on the deck over the whole season's fire wood would be a good idea. :( His house fared better than it should have.

Katy is right, how do you live with something like that - what a horrible mistake.

Oh my it took grit to own up to that, I feel so badly for him. What a costly and damaging mistake he will live with, a mighty burden to bear...

But surely do feel worse for the folks who lost their homes.

Did the guy think the ashes were cold when he put them in the trailer(Why would one do this in the first place?), or was he off his rocker?

'House' for instance, is feminine: 'la Casa.'
'Pencil,' however, is masculine: 'el lapiz.'

A student asked, 'What gender is 'computer'?'

Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two groups, male and female, and asked them to decide for themselves whether 'computer' should be a masculine or a feminine noun. Each group was asked to give four reasons for its recommendation.

The men's group decided that 'computer' should definitely be of the feminine gender ('la computadora'), because:

1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic;

2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else;

3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later retrieval; and

4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.

(THIS GETS BETTER!)

The women's group, however, concluded that computers should be Masculine ('el computador'), because:

1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on;

2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves;

3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem; and

4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model.

The women won.

Finally - Rain in Reno --.02 in my guage - first moisture in it since October! Gotta start somewhere!

Woo-hoo! Snow was trying to plop heavily down here this morning. Nothing sticking so far. The ground is so WET and warm. Water is just standing everywhere. My driveway and road were a river all day yesterday.

Hope I can go find some snow today to shoot!

We were also lucky because winds 80-100mph are fanning a grass and forest fire 7 miles south of here - last I heard 25 houses lost 3500 acres 400 firefighters. Understand it is just starting to rain/snow. Prayers for them!

Very funny Lori, you mean Duane missed that one.
I have been watching the weather for Wa and Or. They say it is moving to Northern Ca. and I hope they are right, very dry there for this time of year. Already talking forest fires. North of Reno is calling for rain and snow mixed. So keeping fingers crossed for them. I want it to be green when I go visit this year. FINGERS CROSSED.

Two days of VERY heavy rain so far - and snow all around us, even at the elevations lower than we are. It is showing wet weather all the way through the 7 day forecast. Then they will say 'dangerous fire season due to wet winter and lots of grasses and weeds'. lol CA is just a bad place for fires no matter what.
