For those looking forward to the official start of Summer (versus the unofficial starts of summer Memorial Day weekend and meteorologic summer on June 1), it will be here Wednesday at 7:09 pm. To help us get into the mood, Mother Nature is turning up the heat for us. Today will be much warmer than yesterday, but Wed through late Thursday will be quite hot! Temps those days will hover in the mid 90s, coupled with the high dewpoints, this will equate to a temps feel of close to 100+. Those near the water will find it "cooler" while those in the metro areas will feel warmer.
Thunderstorms are possible later this afternoon, and every afternoon this week through Sunday. Thursday afternoon is the best chance for storms due to the accumulated heating and an advancing cold front (don't think winter weather, just a slight drop in temps). It looks like the beginning of next week will be cooler.
A high pressure system spinning off the coast (clockwise) is pulling up southern heat and humidity. As the cold front advances later Thursday, the interaction of the heat, moisture and cooler temps aloft could trigger storms. More on that as the week progresses.
I would not be surprised to see the NWS issue heat advisories as the week progresses. I will let you know.
