Some in the local media are playing up a Nor'easter for us this weekend. I just don't see it, especially for us in Central MD. The tropical system is not yet moving, and now the models show it to be further to the East of the coast then in previous model runs. What will be effecting us is the pressure difference between the High pressure to our North and the Low pressure off the coast of the Carolinas. As we sit in the middle of these two systems we will feel the winds pick up. Also, as High pressure circulates clockwise and Low pressure counter clockwise, our location has both systems pulling ocean (moisture rich) air onshore.
So, the way I see it, those East of I-95 will see periods of strong winds (over 10 mph) and many of us will have rain Thursday afternoon into evening. Rainfall amounts could be over an inch. Those along the Atlantic Coast and Bay will see increased wave heights and higher tides. As the weekend progresses the rain will diminish such that Saturday late morning we will see clearing.
