I noticed a satellite track in previous photos, but didn't pay much attention to them. I was blown away this morning when I looked at my shots and discovered I had capture the satellite just as it's solar array caught sunlight and reflected it right back at me! *_*

Cropped close, sorry for the graininess... the light wasn't very good. :)

This is my first opportunity ever to capture an Iridium Flare.... I feel SO LUCKY!

Clear Lake is gradually filling up with recent rain run off. The Gravel bar I've been standing on is just about gone now.off.

So glad to see Clear Lake start to fill up again...:)

Yes, those exotic Asian fruits make an apple seem tame, huh? lol

I have seen lychee in the store here but have not tried it. I juice kiwi along with pomegranate when I can get it. The Asian fruits such as mangosteen are very powerful antioxidants and good for health. I can get the tropical fruits such as papaya, mango and breadfruit here very readily but I can't juice them unless I get a very expensive cold press juicer.

Exotic fruits: cannot remember to have eaten any of those four until now. But after watching the video, I'm hungry. So, an apple must do now, lol.

Thankfully, Channel 4’s primetime programme was far superior to More4’s creaky coverage. This has seen presenter Liza Tarbuck reading links off a clipboard rather than an autocue, while the wobbly set had the air of an Open University broadcast from the 70s. There were howls of protest about Tarbuck's lack of knowledge, leading to wags branding her "worst in show".

Sandi, I enjoyed reading the article though, lol.

A friend and I were commenting recently how the handlers at the New York Dog Show were so frightening. Another one piped in that was so you pay attention to the dogs!! LOL

I saw CRUFTS in your header, and yesterday was Crufts Dog show. The overall champion was a 'fancy' black poodle!

I hate to see them look as though they have spent hours in the beauty parlour!

Not my scene, man, lol...I like the poi dogs. Although, Snowy, my last dog was a 'fancy' dog. He required a lot of maintenance...never again, lol.

LOL, calpoppy. Thank you to you both for the laughs.

கடம்பு Kadam

Neolamarckia cadamba, commonly called Kadam (Kannada: ಕದಂಬ), (Bengali: কদম/কদম্ব),(Oriya: କଦମ୍ବ) (Tamil: கடம்பு) is an evergreen, tropical tree native to South and Southeast Asia. The genus name honours French naturalist Jean-Baptiste Lamarck. The species has been widely but incorrectly called Anthocephalus chinensis. It has scented orange flowers in dense globe-shaped clusters. The flowers are used in perfumes. The tree is grown as an ornamental plant and for timber and paper-making. Kadam features in Indian mythology and religion.

The tree with the spiny balls looks like a chestnut tree. But given the locations maybe not. Might be similar though.

Thanks for putting my hummer shot up, it was fun experimenting with different shutter speeds!

I need to try and do Google search on that image and see if I can identify the tree.

I enjoyed your hummer series. You did great experimenting with the shutter speeds. I had hummingbirds on my patio in Palm Springs and also on my deck on Clear Lake. Always enjoyed watching them and having them around.

Hi Mike,
One question .... It is keeping me awake...lol
When the rest of The States go forward an hour for daylight saving time....do you?

It is a wonderful morning here. The sun is shining and it was already 54 when I got up at 7:30! Think I might spend the day out in the garden!!

Happy Sunday :-)

No. You may go back to sleep now, lol. Hawaii and Arizona do not observe daylight saving time and stay on Standard Time throughout the year. So, we are now 3 hours behind Pacific Time and 10 hours behind you until the UK goes onto BST. Hope you enjoyed the shining sun and the day in your garden!! :-)

Bug, I have no idea what those spiky ball flowers are. Chennai is 13.3 N of the equator...so very tropical. I thought it was interesting how they resemble the dome of the "yoga temple".

Good question, Sandi.

Hi, Mike. What are those odd looking spiky ball flowers? They remind me of of my detested sweet gum balls. I'm sure they're entirely different and less aggravating than the sweet gum balls.

Happy birthday, Madras. You're 374 years old and a thousand years ancient.

Chandrachoodan Gopalakrishnan

I am happy to report that as of last month, the author/photographer of the nh45 blog appeared to be alive and well.

I had wanted to visit Chennai when I was in India but didn't have enough time. One of my traveling companions whilst in India is from Chennai. We opted to go to Delhi and Agra (Taj Mahal) instead. She had not been to either also. I think we were all happy with the decision although it would have been nice to see Chennai too.

Hey that's great info about Getty Images allowing use for us not profit folks.
I'm curious about what they are writing about "imbed technology that allows ads on photos. That would be strange.

Doesn't work on WU, of course. But I guess it is great if you blog or do web sites on other venues, GG. Yes, very nice for not profit folks. Not sure about the ads on the photos though. I guess there really is no free lunch there unless the ads are not a problem to the user and their audience.
