Below-Normal Temps Continue in Mid Michigan

By: chatcat, 1:27 PM GMT on October 24, 2013

This morning, like yesterday is starting out with a little sun but clouds are threatening to take over. We had our first hard frost last night so that should spell the end to most of my flowers and the tomato plants. We did manage to harvest our last good tomatoes and they are already turning red just since yesterday. I'll miss my fresh tomatoes. What you buy in the grocery store just aren't the same. We can expect a little warm-up next week with our temps back into the 50s and closer to normal. We did see a few light snow showers yesterday although they didn't last long and were probably lake effect. We can expect more of these as the season wears on.
Right now (9:15 AM EDT), our temp is 34F, the humidity is 87% and winds are calm. The pressure is 29.98 inches and steady. The dew point is 30F and visibility is 10 miles. Skies are mostly cloudy. Our high yesterday was 49F and the overnight low was 31F. Normals are 56F / 37F. Sunrise was at 8:01 AM and sunset will be at 6:39 PM.

Seasonal Weather in the Forecast - Mid Michigan

By: chatcat, 2:15 PM GMT on October 16, 2013

This morning is sunny and bright after a late night rain shower on Tuesday. We received 0.21" between 9 PM and Midnight but temps remained mild throughout the night with our low only dipping into the lower 50s. Today's high isn't expected to be much more than the upper 50s with wind gusts up to 25 mph. So even with the sun, it won't be very pleasant to be outdoors. NOAA is predicting an onslaught of very cold air descending on us from Canada by the middle of Novermber, possibly bringing early winter conditions to the mid portion of the country. There are also no more 60s or 70s in the forecast for us, so I guess we should resign ourselves to that winter is surely coming.
