Tropical cyclone development is not anticipated across the Atlantic Basin on Monday, while the tropics will remain active over the eastern Pacific. Hurricane Julio will gradually weaken as it drifts northwestward over the eastern Pacific. Julio is forecast to be downgraded to a category 1 hurricane on Monday, with wind speeds ranging between 74 to 95 mph (64 to 82 kts). This system will stay well to the north of the Hawaiian Islands, but will bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms to the Big Island of Hawaii. Hilo can expect afternoon and evening showers with a high of 83(F)/ 28(C). Meanwhile, monsoonal moisture will initiate widespread rain and thunderstorms across western, central and southern Mexico. The northeastern corner of the country will stay mostly clear of precipitation. Mexico City can expect late afternoon and evening thunderstorms with a high of 75(F)/ 23(C). Cancun will experience intermittent thunderstorms throughout the day with a high of 89(F)/ 31(C).
