The snowy pattern has continued. The storm that we saw on the 19th dropped 4.0 inches at the airport and approximately 5 inches at my house. Lake-effect snow did materialize, but it veered to the north and affected mostly Davis County. This was followed by a cold weekend. However, the frigid air that was supposed to move in and bring temperatures in the mid-to-upper teens never materialized and we instead ended up with a high of 26 for the 20th and 32 for the 21st.
On Monday, the 22nd, we were forecast to get approximately 3-8 inches of snow. Well, the storm did materialize...on the rest of the Wasatch Front. The mountains saw approximately 1-2 feet, with a maximum of 23 inches at the Brighton Ski Resort, but the Salt Lake Valley saw no more than 2 inches on the upper benches, with just a trace on the valley floor! Farther north in Davis and Weber Counties they saw 3-6 inches, while to the south in Utah County, 4-8 inches fell! Yet just a trace-2 inches in Salt Lake County. Post-frontal precipitation yesterday morning did bring about 2 inches, but overall it was a bust for Salt Lake City.
However, we get another shot at snow on Christmas, and this one looks positively huge. Although it could mix with rain at times Christmas morning, we're expected to see 6-12 inches by Friday morning! This one looks much more solid than the previous storm and therefore is unlikely to completely bust. The mountains will see 20-30 inches! Hopefully this pans out, since it looks to be the end of the stormy pattern for a while. Temperatures will rise into the upper 30s with sun early next week.
2008-09 SNOW TOTALS: Airport: 15.2 inches My house: 28 inches
