August 1, 2012 - The NEW Baler (Manufactured dates: 8/64-7/66) after finishing pasture four baling
Hay Baler, August 1, 2012. Hay baler after baling pasture four.

Notes: Summer tasks have taken a lot of time and resulted in falling behind in keeping my blog posting up-to-date. (I'll catch up eventually).

Update 08/23/2012 regarding this baler: It worked well for 155 bales in the pasture shown in the photo; 70 in an upper pasture area; 30 from another small area; and 295 in cutting areas across town. Then, it broke after baling three more bales here at the ranch. Another baler was used to complete the "baling season".

Season statistics:
o Baler Number 1: Broke during first row pickup -- out for the season (parts needed for repair not received)
o Baler from neighbor used to bale
o Purchased used baler from a neighbor
-- Baled pasture cut at the ranch plus other close fields
-- Crossed town to cut and bale there
-- Swather broke after using for 2-days
-- Cutting done by someone else to finish getting the hay down (his swather broke with 2-rows left to cut)
-- Baled all cut grass to get 295 bales
o Returned to ranch
-- Cut remaining pastures at the ranch with a neighbor's swather
-- Baler broke after baling three bales -- out for the season
-- Neighbor's baler used to bale 382 bales at the ranch
o Season summary : Approximately 1000 bales generated
-- Broken baler #1
-- Broken swather
-- Broken baler #2

Fall and Winter projects have been established!
