Watching TD18 with some concerns for the Northeast. Several models, including GFS AND Euro, bring this storm up the Eastern Seaboard. How strong and what type of storm remains to be seen. Several scenerios are possible. With a negative tilt to the jet expected to be in place, it is quite possible that the storm could ride the jet and make landfall in Southern New England.
Another possibility would be for the TD to be nudged out to sea with a secondary storm forming along the East coast.
I cant post no model info due to problems with my pc but I will try and resolve this issue.

I'd checked the website a few weeks ago, right after the season finale. It said he was doing OK, still on meds to break up the clot. Have no idea if he's still on meds or if the clot has cleared up.

I see he was well enough on July 4th to attend an event for the Alaska Avaiation Museum in Anchorage.

I'll have to check that out. Clots like that usually kill and he was very lucky.

Oh, Good Lord! I had no idea what to expect, when I read "I'm in love" in your title!

Not too familiar with the Ice Road Truckers. Have watched bits and pieces, here and there but have never gotten sucked into it like I have with Deadliest Catch.

Which reminds me... wonder how Cap'n Phil from the Cornelia Marie is doing? When I watched that show and found out he'd had a pulmonary embolism, I about fainted! I had no idea anyone lived after those! (Seen Dr. G do so many autopsies on people that had them.) He's damned lucky to be alive, he is....

i wonder how he is too. maybe the website will have something regarding his condition. Thats one tough dude!!!
That is my favorite out of all the reality shows, but Truckers is a close second

She makes a very hard job look easy. Chaining those tires correctly is no east task. And she can chain my tires anytime :-0

We are watching Ice Road truckers over here... but obviously not the latest series as I have never seen Lisa. Hubby would sit glued to the TV if she was in the programme!! LOL

Hi Art...glad to hear that H Bill did not cause much of a fuss in your area. Now that is one pretty lady in your header.

Hi Bug!! much cooler and dryer today as Bill funneled some northerly winds. Keep cool whilw watering plants and have fun.

Hi Matt you got that right. IF Bill had made it further west before the curve north I would be cleaning debris and eating soup from a can. LOL It took path that Gloria did in 85, but the storm was so huge at just got caught up in the steering of the bermuda high.
Member Since: January 9, 2006 Posts: 80 Comments: 6119
Glad to hear you didn't get much effect from Bill.

Nice blue skies here this a.m. Hot and muggy, though.

No rain forecast until Tuesday and that's only a 20%. Looks like I'll be watering plants again all week.

Hey Art! I was just fixing to ask how y'all were doing with the effects of Bill up there! Glad to hear it's not so bad, but man if his track was only a couple hundred miles further west, then it would have been a different story! 8|

shown clearly on radar we are in between bill and a trough just to the west
Member Since: January 9, 2006 Posts: 80 Comments: 6119
Were ok alley.. The closest bands are south and east and storm is moving away. Very close call though.
Coastal Connecticut is somewhat protected by Long Island
Member Since: January 9, 2006 Posts: 80 Comments: 6119
Keep safe BT. Looks like you will get a little taste of Bill as he passes by on his way up to Canada.
Member Since: April 18, 2007 Posts: 190 Comments: 29423
Bug nope they never listen. I'm surprised nobody was killed or injured from the rip currents

SSI Nothing here like that. Water is as clear as glass on the CT shores as we are protected by Long Island

Don LOL could have floated away in last nights thunderstorms

gams that temp and rain was during a thunderstorm. Temps have been in the 90's with very high dew points

Bill is starting to show up on my local radar.

Hey, BigT!

You get a miss from Bill and get hit from behind with that front. And another one right behind it.

Yeah, high surf, rip currents and beach erosion is the story all up and down the East Coast with this one. They've been telling everyone to stay out of the water here but do they listen? Noooooo...... I'm surprised there hasn't been a drowning yet. Too many of our beachgoers can swim well enough to be out there in these conditions.

The surfers are out in droves but that's normal, when we have storms passing by.

So Art, are you still there, or did you float away on the waves of that last storm?

Hi BT,

Thanks for your visit; hope all is well and you get to have a little fun this weekend!

are you getting any summer weather yet?

never mind, just looked at your current conditions and it is 77 and raining. LOL

Hope it clears up soon and you can get out a little.

take care of yourself!

Hi Bug, love that map, thanks for the link...Well, New England is spared once again. However, the front moving through that will push Bill, is bringing severe weather today. One confirmed tornado thusfar, many storms lined up along the front. almost 10,000 people without power in NW Connecticut. Tornado watches have been posted in northern CT and severe thunderstorm watches and warnings continue to pop up.

Hi SSI!! yeah, it's been a strange summer without a doubt. 6 straight days above 90 after going all June and July without hitting 90 once.
Bill will completely miss even the most eastern parts of Southern New England, even the cape which sometimes gets brushed by these curving Hurricanes.
HOWEVER, rip currents will be dangerous this weekend, and some minor coastal flooding is possible anywhere from the south shore of Long Island all the way to the cape

Ready for Bill? He's big and he's bad!

Looks like the upper Eastern Seaboard is going to see some nasty weather. Possible landfall in/around Nova Scotia. GrandManan and his kin may be under the gun, at least with the forecast track now.

Public Information Statement
Statement as of 3:51 PM EDT on August 19, 2009

... Severe thunderstorm damage in Central Park classified as
straight line wind damage...

This classification is based on an assessment of information from
New York City emergency management... Doppler radar signatures...
local weather observations... and photos of the damage across
Central Park.

A boundary generated from rain-cooled air associated with
thunderstorms across central New Jersey worked northeast into a
highly unstable airmass across the New York metropolitan area
Tuesday evening. As a result... scattered strong to severe
thunderstorms developed across the metropolitan area.

The thunderstorm that produced the damaging winds across Central
Park developed in the vicinity of Newark around 93o PM... shortly
thereafter becoming severe and tracking northeast across
Manhattan. The time of the damage across Central Park is estimated
to have occurred around 1005 PM... with over a hundred trees
reported down.

In addition... there were reports of large hail and straight line wind
damage across the Bronx... Queens and Nassau counties.

Hi Matt. A lot of people are completely unprepared for a hurricane. It's been 24 years since Gloria.
The major problem from a hurricane in southern new england would be tree damage. There has been a lot of growth and i would expect this to be a problem.
Right now, all but the Canadian model keep it east of new england, but as we know that can change
