Watching TD18 with some concerns for the Northeast. Several models, including GFS AND Euro, bring this storm up the Eastern Seaboard. How strong and what type of storm remains to be seen. Several scenerios are possible. With a negative tilt to the jet expected to be in place, it is quite possible that the storm could ride the jet and make landfall in Southern New England. Another possibility would be for the TD to be nudged out to sea with a secondary storm forming along the East coast. I cant post no model info due to problems with my pc but I will try and resolve this issue.
Cold temps remain in place, thanks to a strong low pressure system in eastern Canada. developing Low pressure is going to be a bomb of a storm. I need to check the other models, a bit more north and west and Southern New England could be in for a significant snowstorm. Timewise would be Saturday morning through early Sunday morning.
THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT...NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY AND SOUTHEAST NEW YORK.
.DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER NOT EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY
A STRONG COASTAL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IS DEVELOPING OVER THE NORTHWEST GULF OF MEXICO. THIS STORM SYSTEM IS FORECAST TO TRACK TO THE NORTHEAST NEAR CAPE HATERRAS ON SATURDAY...AND THEN MOVE TO THE NORTHEAST. THE LATEST FORECAST SUGGESTS THAT THE TRACK OF THIS STORM IS MOVING FURTHER TO THE WEST AND CLOSER TO THE FORECAST AREA. THERE IS AN INCREASED PROBABILITY OF MEASURABLE SNOW OVER LONG ISLAND...SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT AND THE NEW YORK CITY METROPOLITAN AREA LATER IN THE DAY ON SATURDAY LASTING INTO SUNDAY.
THERE IS STILL UNCERTAINTY REGARDING THE EXACT STORM TRACK WHICH WILL HAVE A LARGE IMPACT ON THE EVENTUAL OUTCOME OF THE STORM. SMALL DEVIATIONS IN STORM TRACK CAN LEAD TO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES IN FORECAST SNOWFALL. IF THE CERTAINTY FOR A SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL ACCUMULATION INCREASES... WINTER STORM WATCHES MAY BECOME NECESSARY.
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS AND THOSE PLANNING TRAVEL SATURDAY AND SUNDAY SHOULD MONITOR NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORECASTS FOR THE LATEST UPDATES ON THIS POTENTIAL STORM.

Good morning BT....time to snuggle in front of a roaring fire in the fireplace, a hot drink in your hand and enjoying that special someone. Good conversation and company is the order of the day.
We received a light dusting of snow last night from the outer edge of this system, more in today's forecast as well. Maybe we will finally get a white Christmas after all.
Keep safe, be happy and keep smiling.

Hi Don...LOL Yeah, lots of fun...If your a kid. I just got home after working 14 hours, avoiding cars with drivers that need driving lessons. Almost 99% of drivers ride their brakes and when your behind that it is dangerous. You dont know when they are really going to stop.
Love the post though!!thanks

Thanks all for stopping by!! yes it was a pretty bad storm but it hit us overnight. The timing was good. The roads today were bad with blowing and drifting of the snow, and bad drivers

Sorry to be so late in posting my Christmas wishes to you but I've been very unorganized this year. It doesn't mean that you haven't been in my thoughts.
Having new flooring going down in the kitchen right now, hasn't helped matters any, either! Had to take advantage of our contractor friend's free time right now or wait at least a couple of months. Still, I feel a bit insane....

Northwest winds will increase to 25 to 35 mph tonight... with gusts as high as 50 to 55 mph. The period of strongest winds will be late tonight and Sunday morning... with the strongest sustained winds... and gusts... expected over eastern Long Island and Connecticut.
Where snow is falling or has fallen... reductions in visibility can be expected due to blowing snow. Wind chills of near zero can also be expected at times.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph... or gusts of 46 to 57 mph... are expected or occurring. Winds this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Very cold air on tap for the weekend through the early part of next week. Signs are pointing to the NAO changing phases as the strong high pressure in Greenland will be breaking down, allowing for a more zonal flow. So, we should be looking at a quiet weather pattern, and moderating temps by mid week.
NAO forecast trend is to ne heading into a positive phase

surfmom I was just talking to Hills about my time there. I loved the beach there. Bluewater, awesome waves, and sand like talcom powder. I am in love with it and someday I could end up in the area. I think I could live very happily there
