Watching TD18 with some concerns for the Northeast. Several models, including GFS AND Euro, bring this storm up the Eastern Seaboard. How strong and what type of storm remains to be seen. Several scenerios are possible. With a negative tilt to the jet expected to be in place, it is quite possible that the storm could ride the jet and make landfall in Southern New England.
Another possibility would be for the TD to be nudged out to sea with a secondary storm forming along the East coast.
I cant post no model info due to problems with my pc but I will try and resolve this issue.

Hi Matt. A lot of people are completely unprepared for a hurricane. It's been 24 years since Gloria.
The major problem from a hurricane in southern new england would be tree damage. There has been a lot of growth and i would expect this to be a problem.
Right now, all but the Canadian model keep it east of new england, but as we know that can change

Hey Art! I noticed some of the models on Bill are pointing this towards the Northeast. I hope the folks up there (especially around Cape Cod) have their hurricane safety plans just in case! It's been a long time since there's been a significant cane threat in that part of the country, so I bet many people are not ready at all :/

hi TDA, ready for some warm temps?????

Hi Matt..We are in store for the hottest temps this summer. mid 90's and higher dew points.
Yeah. TD2 will probably fall apart, but the one behind it is stronger and has a better chance.

Hey Art! How's the weather in CT? Hope it's nice, and warm! Looks like the tropics are finally beginning to crank up as well...

Nice, summerlike day here in Southern Connecticut. Some people actually had the nerve to complain about 92 degrees. LOL we barely had a summer this year.

Hey Bigtrucker, severe storms tomorrow in SNE? The NWS outlines both the cons and pros for tomorrow in Taunton, MA's AFD.

Have a good Sunday, BigT!

Guess I shouldn't complain about our heat down here. Have you seen the heat indices they're having in TX? Check out Shore's blog. It's in the comments, somewhere. Can you believe 138º?! That's HOT!

Hi Art! Hope you see that 90F temp on Monday, that should be a nice change for y'all! That's when we might crack the century mark down here though, and to make it worse, dew points should be in the mid 60Fs to near 70F =/

Finally gonna get some summer weather? I tell ya, I wish we'd had some of your coolth down here. We've had some miserably hot spells this summer. So hot, it takes your breath away, when you step outside.

Hope you're enjoying your weekend!

Hi Alley, have a nice weekend. Warm and dry here in CT.
Member Since: January 9, 2006 Posts: 80 Comments: 6118
Good morning Art. Hope all is going well for you these days. Yes its nice to have the weekend off so you can do things for yourself. Hope the weather holds out for you. We are in for some really hot weather with temps up in the mid to high 90s. I will be remaining inside with the AC.

Been busy working outside finishing up some chores that needed to be done, have the house finished now as far as decorating goes so now these old bones can have a rest.

Take care dear one, know you are in my thoughts even though I don't spend much time around here anymore. Maybe this fall, we will see. Big Hugs to you.

hi geek. Its going to be quiet for awhile now that this cold front passed. We have been above average with thunderstorm activity, both with the amount and the severity.
Tomorrow will be cooler and drier, less humid
Member Since: January 9, 2006 Posts: 80 Comments: 6118
Great pics. New Haven looks like a nice little city. It's surprising how many tornadoes have been occurring in the Greater New York area. First the CT twisters, than the Monroe County, PA and Sussex County, NJ twisters, and now another CT one. Quite an impressive mid-summer. How's your weather going now?
Member Since: Posts: Comments:
Clouds won over the sun for most of the day, which will inhibit development of a widespread severe event. The air is just too stable. Farther north and east there will be a severe threat.
Just expecting a few showers and storms as the front works it's way through the area.
Tomorrow...Sunny and much less humid. highs in the low to mid 80's
Member Since: January 9, 2006 Posts: 80 Comments: 6118
Hi Blu....Things are good. Wow, that sounds like some good weather you had.

Hey BT..love the pics you posted. Just back yesterday from a few days in Tennessee. Was nice to have 65 degrees in the morning and cool in the evening. Nice break from here!

My hometown of Milford had many trees and powerlines down in the Woodruff Rd, area of town. Power went out along RT 1 but spared the mall which is just up the road.
I really need to start bringing my camera to work again. I was not too far from either storm that day and was not happy my camera was on the kitchen table

Hi Brooke. Thanks for stopping by. How is Dad doing?? Make sure you call him often.
Call at your convienience, usually nights are best

Hi Art....

I call him everyday...he's doing ok. Not doing the greatest though. He's got an appointment with the doctors on Monday. They're going to be doing some heavy duty tests on him and he's getting paranoid...to be honest, I am too. I am getting so nervous about what is going on with him. He's sometimes so weak and tired, he doesn't want to talk, etc. It's hard. But thanks for asking.

Have a good weekend....take care.

Still man that's way cooler than what I have had LOL

Glad you had a severe storm anyway =) I know how exciting those are!!

Was there anything photo worthy?

Yes it passed and the warning had cancelled. The cell weakened, but what a storm it was.
More action off to the west heading in our direction. But the last storm stablized the air somewhat so they shouldnt be as strong

73.4 1996 71.8 2000

*THROUGH JULY 29TH

DUE TO THE UNUSUALLY COOL CONDITIONS THUS FAR IN JULY...HERE ARE
SOME INTERESTING FACTS TO NOTE...

WITH AN AVERAGE DAILY TEMPERATURE OF 72.3...CURRENTLY RUNNING 4.1
DEGREES BELOW NORMAL...SO FAR THIS IS THE FOURTH COOLEST JULY ON
RECORD AT CENTRAL PARK. THIS VALUE IS EXPECTED TO RISE AS
TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO AVERAGE NEAR TO SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL
THROUGH THE END OF THE MONTH.

DAILY AVERAGE TEMPERATURES HAVE BEEN AT OR BELOW NORMAL EVERY DAY
BUT ONE THIS MONTH (THE 28TH)...FOR 46 OF 47 DAYS DATING BACK TO
JUNE 13TH...AND FOR 54 OF THE 59 DAYS SINCE JUNE 1ST.

CENTRAL PARK HAS ONLY REACHED ABOVE 85 DEGREES ONCE THIS SUMMER...ON
THE 17TH OF JULY...AND HAS NOT YET REACHED 90 DEGREES THIS SUMMER.
IF THIS CONTINUES THROUGH THE END OF THE MONTH...IT WILL ONLY BE THE
SECOND TIME SINCE 1869 THAT 90 DEGREES WAS NOT REACHED IN JUNE OR
JULY. THE ONLY OTHER TIME THIS OCCURRED WAS 1996.

FOR THE MONTHS OF JUNE AND JULY...THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE SO FAR IN
2009 IS 69.9 DEGREES...MAKING THIS THE THIRD COOLEST JUNE AND JULY
ON RECORD AT CENTRAL PARK. WHILE THIS VALUE WILL INCREASE A LITTLE
BIT...IT VERY LIKELY WILL END UP IN THE TOP TEN. OF NOTE IS THAT 7
OF THE 10 COOLEST JUNE AND JULY/S ON RECORD AT CENTRAL PARK WENT ON
TO BEING ONE OF THE 10 COOLEST SUMMERS ON RECORD.

AS FAR AS RAINFALL...HERE ARE THE TEN WETTEST JUNE/JULYS ON RECORD
SINCE 1869 AT CENTRAL PARK:

WETTEST JULY
AMOUNT YEAR
19.35 1975
16.46 2009* 15.93 1928
14.71 2006
14.37 1922
14.28 1889
14.02 2003
13.92 1989
13.84 1972
13.70 1903

* THROUGH JULY 29

WITH 16.46 INCHES OF RAIN SINCE JUNE 1ST...THE JUNE/JULY OF 2009 IS
ALREADY THE SECOND WETTEST ON RECORD INCLUDING THE SECOND WETTEST
JUNE ON RECORD (10.06 INCHES - WETTEST WAS 2003 - 10.27 INCHES) AND
6.40 INCHES SO FAR THIS MONTH. WHILE THE RAINFALL THIS MONTH IS
ABOVE NORMAL BY 2.08 INCHES SO FAR...IT IS NOT IN THE TOP TEN. 1.43
INCHES OF RAIN ARE NEEDED TO TIE JULY 1872 AS THE TENTH WETTEST JULY
ON RECORD (WETTEST JULY - 11.89 INCHES IN 1889). ALSO OF NOTE...IS
THAT ONLY 5.97 INCHES OF RAIN IS NEEDED BETWEEN NOW AND AUGUST 31ST
TO MAKE THIS THE WETTEST SUMMER ON RECORD (WETTEST 1975 - 22.40
INCHES).

Hi Brooke, Glad all is well. I was beginning to worry as i have not heard from you.
Congrats on the grades, keep up the good work. It WILL pay off.
I'm ok, just trying to tread above water at this point in time. But each passing day is another step in the right direction.

Hi Art! Been a while since I have stopped in. I am not on WUground that much these days...been too busy. It's normally late at night that I am on (ask Chuck- LOL) and then I am going, going, going during the day. We're on break right now. Just finished the required summer term...now I am looking forward to the "real thing"- the fall term. Did ok, on my finals...got an A for one test and a B for another...am waiting on the grades for the last test.

Anyways, how are you? I hope things are going well. Take care!!! =)
