Catalina Fly By

By: biff4ugo, 1:02 PM GMT on April 18, 2007

The big catalina seaplane buzzed us this morning, very fun. Smoke was moderatly thick under the clouds with that brownish tint to the sunrise. The forcast for todays thunderstorms from earlier in the week, looks like it will be unfulfilled. Palatka Florida
The smoke reached the ground later in the morning and was quite thick but was gone in the afternoon. No hummingbird sightings today.

South of the Massacre

By: biff4ugo, 12:16 PM GMT on April 17, 2007

It has been very cool the last two days with mornings in the 40's F. News of the Massacre reached me on the radio and I'm glad not to see it all on the TV in endless loops. There has got to be a way to shut people like the gun man, down if they blow a fuse.
On counterpoint.
The hummingbird feeder outside my work window had been wipped around by the severe winds over the weekend and strong but short lived thunderstorm on Sunday. The weight was weiging the magnolia branch down and had sprayed sugar water all over the plants below.
When I moved it closer to the trunk and walked back inside to see how it looked... there was a ruby throated humming bird feeding from it's new location. Later I saw him perched and drinking.

During the morning walk today at 8:30am there was a sundog in the mares tails. Numerous high level ice clouds and frozen contrails were evident.

Birthday 41

By: biff4ugo, 12:18 PM GMT on April 12, 2007

The weather forcast for this weekend couldn't be more lovely for camping. Sunny with highs in the 80's and Lows in the 60's. We need rain but for my Birthday weekend, I'm glad it is holding off.
The rest of the States are having wild weather swings but Florida is holding steady. We had a cool week in early April but it is over now and Summer is leapfrogging over spring.

Easter Weekend

By: biff4ugo, 12:04 PM GMT on April 11, 2007

Wonderful cool and clear Easter weather this past weekend. The unseasonably cool weather meant not worrying about chocolate melting in the easter eggs. This week is my birthday Apr.12 and so far is overcast and drizzley which is what our vegetation in Florida despirately needs.
The lakes are so low from lack of rain that the boat is sitting on the bottom of the boathouse. the extention to the sprinkler system on grandma's house is still reaching water in Lake Harris but it is a near thing and the extention was despirately needed.

North Florida Cold Snap

By: biff4ugo, 1:27 PM GMT on April 06, 2007

It is supposed to hit Freezing tonight, in Early April. This site say it will be Saturday, with Friday's low of 36.
I can't tell if Friday's low is adjusted to be friday night or if it is really Friday morning like it should be if Friday ends at middnight.
I try to give this sight the benefit of the doubt but if it is right now it was wrong several times earlier in the season and vice versa.

Oh well.

They still have the best hurricane stuff around.

Wonderful but wrong weather weekend

By: biff4ugo, 11:50 AM GMT on April 02, 2007

It wasn't supposed to rain till Sunday and then only a chance. It was drizzley and overcast nearly all Friday, and Saturday had some drizzle too. The weather map said NO fronts over us??? Sunday was sunny and dry, by the way.
Poe springs was nice and low key with good sun Saturday morning, Sunday's movie shoot went very well and the Klingon set building and painting went very well.
