Caution,I have the power!

By: auburn, 3:10 PM GMT on May 13, 2009

By B. Govern "Bee-Dot-Govern" (New Jersey, USA)

This item has wolves on it which makes it intrinsically sweet and worth 5 stars by itself, but once I tried it on, that's when the magic happened. After checking to ensure that the shirt would properly cover my girth, I walked from my trailer to Wal-mart with the shirt on and was immediately approached by women. The women knew from the wolves on my shirt that I, like a wolf, am a mysterious loner who knows how to 'howl at the moon' from time to time (if you catch my drift!). The women that approached me wanted to know if I would be their boyfriend and/or give them money for something they called mehth. I told them no, because they didn't have enough teeth, and frankly a man with a wolf-shirt shouldn't settle for the first thing that comes to him.

I arrived at Wal-mart, mounted my courtesy-scooter (walking is such a drag!) sitting side saddle so that my wolves would show. While I was browsing tube socks, I could hear aroused asthmatic breathing behind me. I turned around to see a slightly sweaty dream in sweatpants and flip-flops standing there. She told me she liked the wolves on my shirt, I told her I wanted to howl at her moon. She offered me a swig from her mountain dew, and I drove my scooter, with her shuffling along side out the door and into the rest of our lives. Thank you wolf shirt.

Pros: Fits my girthy frame, has wolves on it, attracts women
Cons: Only 3 wolves (could probably use a few more on the 'guns'), cannot see wolves when sitting with arms crossed, wolves would have been better if they glowed in the dark.

Members of the First Church of the Nazarene in Ironton, Ohio, held a record burning after evangelist Jim Brown told them that the song "A Horse is a Horse" - the theme song from the Mr. Ed show - contained satanic messages when played backwards.

Texting while driving???

By: auburn, 1:53 AM GMT on May 12, 2009

DONT DO IT...DO YOU WANT THE DEATH OF SOMEONE ON YOUR CONCEISE?or if your lucky...your own..

Texting while driving leads to four deaths

By Iva Kay Horner, Publisher/Editor
Tuesday, May 5, 2009

A one-vehicle rollover accident last week claimed the lives of several Morgan County youth, including two from Brush.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, one of many law enforcement and emergency services agencies that responded to the scene, dispatch received a call of a vehicle swerving on County Road R last Thursday. The vehicle lost control, and rolled, throwing two teenagers from the Dodge SUV, while trapping two others within the vehicle.

Pronounced dead at the scene by Morgan County Coroner Don Heer were Shelbi Frahm, the daughter of Roger and Barbara Frahm, and Sarah Cummings, daughter of Gus and Mary Cummings. Both were seniors at Brush High School (BHS) and would have graduated with their class on May 23.

Two were transported by ambulance, with a third airlifted to Colorado Plains Medical Center (CPMC) by North Colorado Med Evac.

Law enforcement reports that although alcohol was found in the car, it was not a factor in the accident. The cause has been determined as texting while driving.

Because of what eventually led to four deaths related to the accident, the Colorado State Police are charging BHS senior Iesha Gomez with four counts of vehicular homicide.

Warning:Sunspot cycle on the rise

WASHINGTON – When the sun sneezes it's Earth that gets sick. It's time for the sun to move into a busier period for sunspots, and while forecasters expect a relatively mild outbreak by historical standards, one major solar storm can cause havoc with satellites and electrical systems here.

Like hurricanes, a weak cycle refers to the number of storms, but it only takes one powerful storm to create chaos, said scientist Doug Biesecker of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's space weather prediction center.

A report by the National Academy of Sciences found that if a storm as severe as one in 1859 occurred today, it could cause $1 trillion to $2 trillion in damage the first year and take four to 10 years to recover.

The 1859 storm shorted out telegraph wires, causing fires in North America and Europe, sent readings of Earth's magnetic field soaring, and produced northern lights so bright that people read newspapers by their light.

Today there's a lot more than telegraph lines at stake. Vulnerable electrical grids circle the globe, satellites now vital for all forms of communications can be severely disrupted along with the global positioning system. Indeed, the panel warned that a strong blast of solar wind can threaten national security, transportation, financial services and other essential functions.

The solar prediction center works closely with industry and government agencies to make sure they are prepared with changes in activity and prepared to respond when damage occurs, Biesecker said in a briefing.

While the most extreme events seem unlikely this time, there will probably be smaller scale disruptions to electrical service, airline flights, GPS signals and television, radio and cell phones.

On the plus side, the solar storms promote the colorful auroras, known as the northern and southern lights, high in the sky over polar areas.

An international panel headed by Biesecker said Friday it expects the upcoming solar cycle to be the weakest since 1928.

The prediction calls for the solar cycle to peak in May 2013 with 90 sunspots per day, averaged over a month. If the prediction proves correct it will be the weakest cycle since a peak of 78 daily sunspots in 1928.

Measurement of sunspot cycles began in the 1750s.

The panel described solar storms as eruptions of energy and matter that escape from the sun. At least some of this heads toward the Earth.

Solar cycles of more and fewer sunspots last several years and the cycle currently building up will be number 24 since counting began.

It's only the third time researchers have tried to make such a forecast. In 1989 a panel predicted Cycle 22, which peaked that year. And in 1996 scientists predicted Cycle 23.

Both earlier groups did better at predicting timing than intensity, according to Biesecker.

The last solar minimum occurred in December, the researchers said.

W. Dean Pesnell of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration said the forecasts are based on such indicators as the strength of the sun's magnetic field at the poles and the reaction of the Earth's magnetic field to the sun. Both are weak right now, he said, with only a few sunspots visible since 2007.

A preliminary forecast issued in 2007 was split over the outlook for the upcoming cycle, Biesecker said the researchers have now reached consensus.

Legalizing Pot ??

By: auburn, 2:59 PM GMT on May 07, 2009

What do you think of this?

California was the first state to legalize medical marijuana and now Governor Schwarzenegger says it's time to debate whether the state should make pot legal for recreational use too.

A local cannabis club is very concerned about what the governor said today.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is very familiar with marijuana. Years before he was sworn in as governor, he admitted to taking a toke or two.

"I really smoked it, and I inhaled," said Schwarzenegger.

Marijuana ingested numerous ways is one of the most versatile and controversial drugs on the medicinal and underground market. The latest polls show more Californians favor legalizing it.

"Yes, yes. Absolutely," said Clyde, cannabis club owner. "If god grew it, we can smoke it. It's being produced as it is, so why not make some money."

And with California's economic dilemma, the governor says he welcomes the marijuana discussion.

Today he told reporters: "I think it's time for a debate. I think all of those ideas of creating extra revenues, I'm always for an open debate on it."

"Ron I'm against that," said Clyde, cannabis club owner.

Clyde disagrees with a debate or discussion. He says marijuana should be for medical purposes only and not seen as a money making machine.

"If it was completely legalized we would become a liquor store, is what it would be, and I'm against that," said Clyde. "I just don't think that will be very smart."
And there are a lot of people out there who don't believe it should be legalized. The governor's camp is also saying "hold your horses; there are a lot of factors to consider other than revenue."

"That debate should not be centered solely on the fiscal benefits of that and we should talk to our friends over in Europe to see how it's going for them," said Aaron McClear, the governor's press secretary. "Obviously, there's going to be a lot of discussion whether this controversial plant will be the product to take California out of this economic crisis. However, the governor says this is not his priority right now but his priority is the upcoming special election."

A recent poll shows that 56-percent of Californians support legalizing and taxing marijuana.
