The Columbia Gorge has been affected by an inversion. Communities along the river will be hovering at freezing in a heavy cloud cover and Mt. Hood will be sunny and 50 degrees.
As you can see, here at 1800' we are out of the cloud layer. Some lenticular clouds are beginning to form.

The Year Started Off With Inversion

The year has started off with the gray inversion. Temperatures staying right around 24º with a slight east wind.
Still around 18 inches of snow on the ground.
This morning the wind finally switched to southwest, so we will see if changes are on the way.
Some freezing rain in the gorge.

LAST FULL MOON OF 2012

As we near the end of a mild December it has turned a bit colder. High today of 27.7 degrees.
We have 12 to 18 inches of snow on the ground. Great sledding, cross country skiing or snowmobiling weather.

Last night was the last full moon of 2012 and with the snow on the ground and a clear sky, it was almost like daylight outside.

4 degree temperature variation in 66 hours

We have been stuck in an inversion.
If I am reading my stats correctly we have had a 4 degree difference in temperature in the last 2 and 1/2 days. (66 hours to be exact).
Monday, Nov. 26 at 1600 hrs to today, Thursday, Nov. 29 at 1000 hrs. the low was 29.4 and the high was 33.2.

LOTS OF RAIN

We ended up with 2.05 inches of rain yesterday. Nov. 19th.
In 1996, Hood River, OR had 1.91" for a record.
