....er, make that A-Peeling.

I've got more flakes than Kellogg's, and I swear that's no joke. My poison oak rash is peeling like crazy, like a really bad sunburn might. This is the second round of peeling. Last week I peeled off most of my face and neck. It's all coming off again... I think I'm running out of skin.

On the other hand, if I finally do finish this skin refreshment (I hope that's what's happening here!) maybe the itching will stop.

Anyone out there have any ideas about how long this beautiful phase of recovery from major poison oak might take?

My face hurts. After what I'd call a really boring morning, I treated myself to my daily bike ride, out to Coyote Hills again. It was beautiful weather here, 70 degrees, fog lifted to white puffy clouds. I'd wanted to get out early, but that just didn't happen.I spent a bit of time in the butterfly garden, conversed with some friends in the Visitor Center there, and got a nice surprise when I walked out the door to retrieve my bicycle. It seems the way to my bike wa...

As the chigger and poison oak rashes on my face and neck finally stopped swelling and started drying up a bit, I slathered on the SPF and got out for my ride yesterday, a bit later than I wanted. That bit later turned out to be a good thing. I passed a couple guys on the Alameda Creek trail, then stopped in a vain effort to catch a pair of pheasants that I'd spotted. I know pheasants are pretty territorial, so I'm fairly certain this was the male I've been calling...

The marshes are drying up... the chiggers are out in force, and the poison oak is doing quite well. Too well, in fact, for my taste!I suppose I've another two weeks or so to go before my current combination of chiggers and poison oak rashes are gone. Knowing the chiggers were out there, I followed my standard procedure for avoiding being chigger bait. I used insect repellent. I jumped into a warm shower as soon as I got home from my photo shoot and scrubbed mysel...

Well, those blasted chigger bites are really something else. I thought I'd gone to that place opposite of what they call heaven yesterday, the itching has been so intense.Imagine my joy today at discovering ANOTHER rash. Yep, chiggers aren't enough for some folks, so I've gone ahead and contracted a nice healthy case of poison oak on top of it.Of course, being someone who doesn't like to do things halfway, I've gotten a doozy of a case. It's all over my neck and ...
