Ha! I bet you all though this was going to be a half-baked blog! Actually, this blog features constuction cams! Bridges, buildings, hospitals, and dams are shown being built via webcams!

Construction cams are unique, because (1) they are usually not long term,(as soon as the project is done, no more cam) (2)generally change from one day to the next, and (3)usually has something happening on it.

Case in point: I was going to post a link to the construction cam for the new hospital here in Owensboro, but since they have completed it in March, they shut the cam down, no longer giving us the latest view! :(

From ACTEW, the Dam cam! Full Size
Click for Canberra, Capital Territory Forecast

This is a project that will increase the capacity of the reservoir here from 4 gigaliters to 78 gigaliters!

From Malers Automation, the White City cam!
Click for Tel Aviv, Israel Forecast

Neat view looking down from a crane; can't find any info on the project, though!

Thanks to KoitoPottery, the Hidanosato Street cam!
Click for Takayama, Japan Forecast

I'm not sure what they are building here; Google doesn't do a very good job of translating the Japanese on KoitoPottery's page!

From Port Mann/Highway 1 Improvement Project, the Cape Horn Interchange cam! Full Size
Click for Pitt Meadows, British Columbia Forecast

"The Port Mann/Highway 1 Improvement Project (PMH1 Project) includes construction of a new 10-lane Port Mann Bridge (the widest bridge in the world), 37 kilometres of highway widening from Vancouver to Langley, including 30 kilometres of new HOV lanes, and the replacement of nine highway interchanges. These improvements will significantly reduce congestion and travel times along the Lower Mainland’s busiest and most congested highway."

From Hotel Grande Bretagne, the Acropolis cam! Full Size
Click for Athens, Greece Forecast

Work continues on restoring the Parthenon, and the rest of the Acropolis, as you can tell by the scaffolding!

From Adelaide, Australia, the Outer Harbor cam! Full Size
Click for Adelaide, South Australia Forecast

Although on a small scale, improvements continue here in Adelaide!

From Tridell, Utah, the Rescam cam! Full Size
Click for Tridell, Utah Forecast

This is going to be a new reservoir when it's done; not much more info than that, though!

From tageblatt.de, the Buxtehude City Hall cam!

Good evening! Was a very pleasant day today; finished some more projects, leaving only a handfull on my list! Still too wet to plant, or even to mow, for that matter! rain chances are to increase the next few days; if it's nice tomorrow, I think I'll take a quick nap, and tackle the yard!

I have two more cams to find for the new blog; shouldn't be too difficult(fingers crossed!).

Had a good night, Rob! And a good day, too! :' )

Hi, Reno! ??????

Sandi, I could have sworn there was more Milos captures! Didn't you post a capture of a car once? My memory fails me.....

Evenin', Todd!

Wab, I'm in the same boat as you; it may be June before I get my garden planted! :(

I was looking for something else and came across this....

DELTA Scaffolding tarpaulin provides reliable protection from wind and dust in all weathers.
On restoration work and new construction of larger buildings, bridges and so on, the work being carried out has always got to be reliably protected against interference from the weather. Being very robust and extremely safe DELTA SCAFFOLDING TARPAULIN is always up to the challenge!

Seems lots of places use blue tarpaulin on the scaffolding...:-)

As to the query about Milos.... I shall have to investigate!

I investigated and it obviously wasn't as many as I thought.... (many more of the wild animals and Kilimanjaro on the Savannah cam)

I'm currently at eight cams for the new blog so far! Not bad!

Dix, I'm not sure how long it'll take to build the resevoir, but I'll keep an eye on it, and repost it on a later blog as it gets further along!

Afternoon, Todd!

That's a nice touch with the rose colored filter, Sandi! I wonder how many Milos "photos" you've captured over the last couple of years?

Good morning! We're actually having a sunny day for a change! Unfortunately, it's not supposed to last, as rain is forecast starting tomorrow, and lasting until Saturday! :P

Looks like clouds over most of the cams, too! I should be able to get some new cam searching(and finding, hopefully) done today!

Hi, Alley! The Miraflores Locks cam is also on the WU webcam page under Panama, thanks to Wunderyakuza! Ah, the power of admin.... :' )

WTS, definitely a rice paddy, lol! All I need is some rice to plant! I wonder if a box of Uncle Ben's would work? ;' )

Hi, Tony! You're out and about later than normal! I take it the Queen was working late?

Sandi, I believe you're right about the crane cam. What a mess in the construction yard! They need to raise the crane back up, lol!

GG, I wonder if that was Sandi and Pros, and they didn't tell us? That wouldn't be right, you know? :' )

Spider attack on Buxtehude City cam!

I think the blue tarp is just building suspense for the big reveal ;) Or I might wager the giant printing is good advertising for the construction company! They are getting worldwide exposure :)

Oz, you'd think that the council would be somewhat liable for damages resulting from their advice, but governments have a knack for shedding responsibility, it seems! :(

You are probably right! The guy who has property behind us told me when we moved in not to worry about flood as the council had made him increase the height on the levy bank on his property and yes you guessed it despite being built to THEIR spec it breached! They have now told him HE has to rebuild higher.....he is pushing for a joint venture, he gets the fill and they bring the heavy equipment but the fill has been sitting waiting for a while and no sign of the councils equipment!!! Hope it doesn't rain tooo much!

It doesn't make sense to me either, ycd! Wouldn't know why it would need protection, as it's already roofed in. Since the tarp surrounds the project at a distance, I can't inagine what could fall out of it! There's Japanese signage on the outside of the enclosure; if I could read it, it could explain the reason for the tarp!

Still morning here but bright and sunny.
Blue Tarps:
I wondered what they were for when they first appeared on sites around here. I guessed they were partly for weather protection and partly to contain anything that might fall from above.

Good morning! Back to my regular gig! We recieved about 1.75" of rain over the weekend, enough to dash any hopes of getting my garden out! :( More rain is forecast off and on for the rest of the week, so there's no telling when I'll be able to plant!

Cams are good; probably will start scouting for cams tomorrow for the next blog, maybe even today, if time allows! I already have a couple of new cams picked out, plus an old favorite!

Shore, as one who operates cranes that move heavy objects, a fraction of an inch can mean a lot when it comes to achieving the desired result!

WTS, I wish I could give the rain we got this weekend. The pattern we've had the past few years is wet weather until late June, then dry for the next few months. I'd rather have it spead out!

In theory, bug, you'll have retired 10 years from now, allowing you more time to remember your lists, as you won't be in such a rush! Hey, it sounds good, lol!

Cal, as of yesterday, there has not been a peep from anyone at Denali about this years' batch, or who the future mom and dad are, or anything! In 2011, they started later in the year, so perhaps that's the case this year! I check at least every week, so when I find something out, I'll pass it on!

Pros, I'm nowhere near heartless, just underestimated folks' love of the regular cams! :' ) A juicy cookie sounds interesting! What kind was it?

Alley, the Panama Canal cam is in the back of my mind, too, so look for it sometime soon! Most of the time, at this point in the week, most of the potential cam lineup is pretty fluid!

Eeeek! Oz, I'm not sure that I'd want to live downstream from that dam! Sounds like too much politics, and not eneough engineering! We have plenty of that around here as well, unfortunately! :P

Sandi, they save the last good image of the Tridell cam until the next morning, but I'm sure the equipment hasn't moved because it was the weekend, and the workers were off! :' )

Add: The workers have returned, and are now operating machinery! :' )

GG, a thermal oxidizer sounds interesting! Your plant must have a lot of waste to get rid of in order to plant 100 trees! before I inadvertantly impress anyone with my supposed wisdom, let it be known that I had to wiki it, lol!

Happy Monday!
Am curious about the big blue tarp as well. Perhaps they have annoying building codes that specify new construction should not be "visible".

We have to plant 100 new trees after installing new thermal oxidizer. That is most likely a good thing.

Hope the Canberra dam is better than the one they just built here. It took 20years to get through planning so is 20 years out of date and they now think it will not hold in a one in one hundred year weather event! Anyone got a boat to sell???????

Hi, Ylee.

I see you've averted the impending native rebellion by bringing back the Milos and feeder cams.

I sometimes feel like I ought to be walking around with sticky notes all over me. If I don't write things down.....

I keep a running list of things on one of those magnetic notepads on my icebox door. Things I need to get at the grocer or Walmart, the next time I go. Nine times out of ten, I walk off and leave the list on the icebox.

If I'm like this now, what in heavens name will I be like 10 or 20 years from now?

Well, lookie who's here! Despite giving you a hard time about the title, I really do like the cams. There's just something about watching big machinery work and projects develop that's fascinating. When they were using cranes to untangle the mess in the marinas after Hurricane Ike, I was right there with everyone else, and it was amazing. I never would have believed the crane operators could do such delicate work with such huge machines.

Sorry you're back to work, but on the other hand, if it's yucky out, why not? Have a good evening!

Good evening! As much as I would've liked to have taken the entire weekend off, I allowed myself to be called in in order to pay for my Lowe's habit, lol! As it has been raining for most of the past 24 hours, there wasn't a lot I could do around the house, anyway! We've had a little over an inch of rain so far, with the temps stubbornly clinging to 50 degrees! Perhaps a little warmer tomorrow, with more rain!

In order to prevent this blog from becoming another Guantanamo, I've added the Milos and feeder cams! :' ) You'd think I was waterboarding some people, lol! All cams look good tonight!

Pros, wab, see? I'm not a heartless blogmeister! :' )

WTS, I wonder what it would be like if the White City cam was streaming, and the cam was moving due to the wind? Vertigo, indeed!

YCD, deer are as much a nuisance here as they are cool to see; if you could set up a cam, I'd probably post it!

Sandi, it's still night there at the moment, but as best as I recall, it looked OK to me!

Nope! No title change, Shore! I fully intended the trick of words! More fun this way! :' )

That's true, Dix, I guess Florida is still reeling from the housing bubble. That means you probably got a pretty good deal, right? :' )

GG, the Montana bridge cam was pretty popular last year, so I've been itching to do a construction blog! As you can see, the steak is back, lol!

Join the club, bug, lol! Sometimes I'd lose my behind if it wasn't attached! :' )

sp, it appears the building being built on the Hidanosato cam is surrounded by a blue tarp! Wonder why?

Sandi, I think the Acropolis cam is level. It's just the angle of the shot. The houses and whatnot at the bottom all look level. I was just looking at Google images and, while most of the pictures make the outcropping appear level, there are some that show a slope.

Your? "Do I have a lot of construction in Melbourne, FL". Nope, but 7 months ago when when lived in Greenville, SC there was construction everywhere. That part of SC (far western) is booming thanks to the mostly good climate and the lovely mountains which are just a 1/2 hr away. If I weren't such a lover of sunshine and swaying palms, I would still be living there.

Controversial? Ummmm... not so much. I've been waiting for you to put a new blog up. When I saw the title "Under Construction", I assumed there was nothing to see, as most people (including myself) do that while working on a new entry!
I was beginning to think you were sick or on vacation, so stopped by to see what was up - and what's up is construction cams!

Maybe a title change to "Construction Cams" would be advised!

In the meantime, I have to ask.... where's the feeder cam? I'm missing my daily dose of squirrels and cardinals, not to mention the occasional raccoon! :-)
