Map

Banff National Park is the oldest national park in Canada, first established in 1885. It has an area of 2,564 sq. mi., or 6,641 sq. km. It is located in SW Alberta, near the border with British Colombia, in the Canadian Rockies. It is a dramatic landscape of glacier-cut mountains, hot springs, glaciers, and lakes.

Banff is unique among national parks in Canada by actually having an incorporated town within its' borders, a town of the same name with a population of about 7600. It serves as a hub for the tourist activities at the park, including golf courses, skiing, hiking, and enjoying the hot springs. It is also one of the most visited parks in Canada, with annual visits approaching 4 million.

A popular tourist attraction is the Banff Gondola, which takes from the town to the top of Sulphur mountain, where at an elevation of 7484 feet, offers a grand view of Banff. There is a couple of cams at the top of Sulphur Mt., one of which I'm pleased to highlight this week!

"This is a view fit for the Gods. What am I doing here?"

I just corrected that entry. I have never been to Morocco but now we can both spell Abidjan.
You summed the answer perfectly, by the way, even with faulty information.

I asked that question myself when I first started working here, as this is one of the most premium blue-collar jobs in the county. Then, after I spent enough time with co-workers, I wondered, "What are they doing here"? :' )

Now, now Ylee:
I spent only a few years working for large organizations but I think I understand.
I liked most of the folks I met there but had trouble adjusting to what I saw as incompetence in authorities supposedly "in charge".

Good morning Ylee.
No I don't have to start the car. I've told the Queen that I could be arrested for having care and control of a vehicle with no drivers license.
Have a good day.

You are definitely in the 3-4 dog night territory!

all the cams looking good this morning but I do notice there are no rooftop diners at Spindeuv, imagine that! I think I'll run away to the VI's, it looks much more inviting!
Take care

Good morning! It was even colder this morning than yesterday! It made it down to 12 this morning, two degrees colder than yesterday! Supposed to make it up to the upper 30s today, which is a lot better than yesterdays' 21! Tomorrow night and Friday morning promises to be interesting, as a front will pass, giving us a chance of snow!

Cams look good this morning; plenty of elk showed up to feed this morning, and a deer is sharing the corn with two squirrels!

Wab, I've never really thought of this blog as particularly oriented toward children, but I don't care for any of the garbage that you can find in media nowadays, so I guess I made the blog the way it is subconciously! :') I'm glad you can trust this blog, and I'll try to be extra careful to make sure it stays that way!

Trauma, you don't need a passport to go to the USVI, and they're in the 80s! You can wear long johns there, if you wish, but people might look at you funny! ;' )

Hi, GG! Resturant? I thought that it was an electronics shop before it burned! Wonder if anyone's still living upstairs? Still looks kinda rough......

Tony, with an excuse like that, you could've made a good maintenance guy here at work! :' )

Janet, I've heard of the band Three Dog Night, but never heard the phrase used in a sentence before! Had to go look it up, and I must say that I'd prefer three blankets to three dogs, lol!

Mornin', Rob!

Hi Ylee....burrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....its a way lot colder today with those 20 mph winds blowing those low temps around. Sun is shining but it sure is not giving any heat. Sure glad I got out yesterday to do my grocery shopping and get in more kitty noms. I cut open a bag of kibble in the garage so they would not have to come out in this cold except to do their toilet. I bet even that is quick for them today...LOL That wind is nasty. Can't wait till the warm up next week and I read that Feb is going to be a warm month. I sure hope so, that means an early spring and we all love early springs.

Have a great shift and stay warm.

Take care!

Good evening! Another cold one today, as temps never made it to freezing! Supposed to get some light frozen stuff from the early morning hours to about noon; we'll see how that turns out!

Moon over Milos tonight!

Hi, Tony! Sneak in, sneak out! At least she didn't wake you! :' )

33, Sandi? Makes you want to hula, doesn't it? :' )

Super busy night tonight; not much time for blogging! :P Oh well, gotta earn my keep every once in awhile, lol!

Radar's showing frozen stuff, but I haven't ventured outside to see if anything's actually making it to the ground!

There's a gathering of folk at Place Stanislaus. Hong Kong is showing considerable air pollution! :( According to their website, NO2 is their main polluter, with API readings ranging from 62 to 139! No wonder the view is hazy!

good mornin', is it cold out there!! Its still in the low 20's here with midteen's wind chills. I think our heat pump never turned off yesterday. Ouch on next months bill.
Kittys got an early start this morning. Sam was in a mood to harrass Snickers a bit.

Hi, Janet! We have ice this morning, as the forecasted sleet and snow came down as freezing rain! Maybe 1/8th of an inch so far! Schools are already closed for the day!

I hope this stuff passes you by!

I saw the haze in Hong Kong... I had a friend who worked for the British Embassy over there and he began with asthma whilst there. Never suffered before he lived in such a smoggy place!

The only place with any sun today is Spindleuv, but minus 6.5 C so I won't bother visiting!
Freezing rain is horrid, much worse than snow, so take care out there!

Sandi, Doc's blog is about the air pollution in Utah, but they don't match anywhere in eastern China, IMO!

The Lewisport weathersticker is lying! We are NOT getting snow!

Rob, I get to stay over at work an extra four hours(yippee!), so maybe by then the salt trucks will have made a dent on the roads!

I need a nap.....

I'll be sure to spash on the sun screen before I dig a space in thr snow to lie down. The reflection from the white stuff will make for a quick tan.

Hi Ylee! Raining here and more to come! Might have found a place too move the pond to at work. Now to find where the bullfrogs hibernate at!

Does Kentucky use salt for the roads or cinder?

Red bird at the feeder. As is Fat Albert. (Does he ever go home? lol)

Ylee, I just stumbled across that blog, while looking for bathroom computer set up images. I just couldn't find that one anywhere but that blogsite. Why, I dunno. I've seen it before, in other places.

Big fluffy snowflakes coming down. We did get about 2 inches earlier this morning. Temps are still below what I want to see them at only l8F, when oh when are we going to get over the deep freeze. Hopefully by Monday it will start to warm up to more normal temps for us. At least the snow looks pretty and I have no where to have to go so I shall enjoy the white while it lasts. Better than ice rain...

Have a great day.

Good morning! Been another busy night here, not much time to be out and about the blogs! Cold again, although not as bad as previous nights. Supposed to be a warmup early next week, with a chance for rain for several days! Probably get some localized flooding!

Stanislas cam is down for the moment; four pointer is back at the feeder cam! Lots of clouds and/or rain everywhere else that has daylight!

Tony, tell me how it works! And pictures! We want pictures! :' )

Cal, Ky. has two strategms when it comes to ice on the roads! First, if they know it's coming and the roads are dry, they spray a solution of beet juice on the road, which works as an antifreeze! Then they apply salt, and sometines sand, during and after the winter precip!

Bug, that is Fat Albert's home, lol!

Alley, snow is always prettier when you have nowhere to go!

wab, I'm not even sure why the elk refuge exists anymore, at least as a method of preserving elk! Modern conservation practices have created herds all over the country, including my state of Ky.!

The river you see is called the Nerang; there's no mention of it on Wikipedia being above the surrounding lands, or the lands are below sea level. Optical illusion, perhaps?

Good catch, Rob!

Surprise! Guess who got called in? :' ) Been busy at work most of the day, thought I'd better stop in and check on things! We're just starting to get some light sprinkles; thankfully, it's above freezing, so the roads are OK!

As you all have noticed, the feeder cam has been down for a couple of hours. I'm on a "borrowed" computer, so I can't see the "glitch" cams. Surfers Paradise looks flooded!

Sandi, didn't quite make it to four days off! :' )

Janet, that would be nice to go to the USVI, but in order to pay for it, I have to work OT! Sorta a catch 22, you know? :'-)

Hi, Tony!
