What "with 4WD, traction control and other electronic doodads" it sounds like you've got it made for just about any road condition. Neither freezing rain nor snow or any combination thereof will keep Ylee from his appointed rounds.

Good evening! We had about a tenth of an inch of freezing rain, followed by a quarter of inch of snow last night! Roads were a little slick going home last night, but with 4WD, traction control and other electronic doodads, plus taking it slow, I got home without a slip! They canceld school today, but the salt trucks were out early, and the roads were clear by noon.

I have one more cam to find for the new blog, but I may go to plan B and put in an old cam instead. We'll see how it goes! :')

Rob, made it home safe; didn't see any wrecks, either, so that was a good thing!

No snuggling with coyotes here, Briar!(Calpoppy might, lol) I prefer to wear several layers of clothing! :')

Traum, that's a long shift, but I'm guessing you're only working a max of three days a week, right?

Sunshine sounds nice, Alley! I haven't seen any sun for several days now! :P

Janet, it hovered just above freezing today, which isn't bad considering it was melting the ice a bit, plus it was below freezing most of the past few days!

Finally a beautiful day here with temps sitting at 37F, sun is shining and a light breeze. If only the next 2.5 months would remain like this. One good thing, no snow to shovel.

Hope your having a great day, Ylee.

Trauma, what's a vampire like you doing out in the daylight, then? :) No white stuff here just rain; it's not freezing here, where heat from the buildings are relatively warm, but it is at home! :( I'll be a mite tricky getting home, I fear!

I don't think I've ever seen Adelaide with such bright blues. Course, it is about noon there, but still. Wow!
And the snow monkeys are steam monkeys right now. The steam coming up from their pool is so thick, the only monkey I can see clearly is the one at the front edge posing for the nice people with cameras.
The Canal has got ships coming and going. Really. Don't see that often.

-----------------------

You've got 31F and ice pellets coming down. Ew! Brrrr!! Yuck!!!
Hope you're all snuggled up with a family of coyotes.

Good morning! Another cold start to the day, 23 as I went to work this morning! We have a slight chance for freezing rain this evening; hope it stays away! I empathise with the folks south of here that are being clobbered with ice; we had our turn in '09, and we had no power for a week!

Will start searching for cams in earnest for the new blog today!

Sandi, the vultures around here have tipped-up wings, too! Other vultures(also known around here as lawyers) have wing-tipped shoes! ;')

Hi, Trauma! I'm here today, then back on nights tomorrow!

Re the eagle versus the vulture.... I thought eagle as they fly over Zambia, and the Zambian flag has a Golden Eagle on it.
But after looking at both in flight on google images, I have come to the conclusion you are probably correct, as the body does look too chunky for an eagle, although the tipped up wing tip is more eagle-ish. Should we call it an "eagl-ture"?

Beautiful morning in Milos and Kilimanjaro is poking through the tops of the clouds :-)

Hi Ylee! It is cold, cold, cold here! 17 this morning! We got back from the wedding around 10:45 last night and since our cabin does not have a heater it was darn cold in the cabin! Got the wood stove going again and put some flannels on and jumped into bed, LOL! That's what we get for going out on the coldest night of the year!! The temp was 22 when we got home!

Hi Ylee, yes it would be rough to miss "black ice" fall and hurt one's self. Even a little sand would help to keep ya safe.
Had some extra visitors at the food dish today. Nico's dad was here earlier, solid black like Nico and Meonus, a big brute and a big golden tom came by at lunchtime for a bite to eat. Now the boys are here for their afternoon snack along with Browyn. My babies sure are nice and fat, slick like little seals...LOL

Good morning, Alley! I'm glad for no snow too, but we had some black ice in the parking lot at work! Made it through okay; they have this silly warning light to alert people when it's below freezing, but I'd rather for them to spend some money on some salt! :)

Good morning Ylee. I trust all is well in your neck of the woods. A bit chilly here too this morning. Have been spoiled with those 50s but alas back to reality and a balmy 25F to start the week off. Only good thing is, no snow on the ground. Sure is nice to be able to carry trash bags out to the road in one's slippers in the middle of January...LOL

Anyway all looks quiet on the cams this morning so I guess I will go and start the laundry...oh fun...Have a great day dear one.

Good morning! A raw, cold start to the week, with temps in the mid 20s, and a stiff northerly wind! We had about 2.8" of rain of the weekend, and now the yard is covered with icy puddles!

Will try to start on an all new blog this week! I know everybody likes the top 11, but it's time to move on!

Sandi, thanks for posting the Kilamanjaro capture! Very, very, nice! Like the other one, too; do they have golden eagles in Africa? Maybe it was a vulture!

My regular blogs feature four cams in the W. Hemisphere, three in Australia/Far East, and three in Europe, so there's always something to see! :)

You have a squirrel named at the feeder cam, bug? :)

Does anyone think the smaller penguins are actually mostly grown chicks, and that we all missed them growing up?

Hi, Tony! I gather the snowblower is still working well?

Janet, it was 70 Friday, and 22 this morning, with a wind chill in the teens! Talk about a shock!

Mornin', Rob!

Fat Albert and Mr. Cardinal at the feeder.

Hi Ylee,
I have just captured a great screen shot of mount Kilimanjaro, the best ever I have seen. It is on the Ipad, and silly WU does not allow uploading photos from IPads, so tomorrow I will post it when I am back in my office on the laptop.

Fat Albert and his family are at the feeder.

The penguins are being penquin-y. I must have been wrong about chicks. There's been several times recently that I've viewed that cam and many of the penquins were gone. No sign of chicks, anywhere. I must have seen rocks or something.

Now I know why I voted for Kamp Kanzi and Milos... as six of the cams are in darkness, and two are static, so without the two I mentioned, your blog would have no attraction for me!

Well, you would still be an attraction.... lol, perhaps I should shut up before I put "foot in mouth"!!!

Well, I doubt that clicking on anything here on WU would transfer his retirement to Nigeria! lol

When they upgraded from Classic to New WU? He was totally lost. He just gave up. He didn't view his blog for almost two months, until I could get up there and re-train him. I had sent him instructions (screen prints I did at work) but he had just hit a wall. I spent all that time talking to myself on his blog and he couldn't even read the comments.

"It all changed and I couldn't find my blog. I didn't know what to do."

I have my blog set up as a recommended link on his blog, so he could get to mine easily. I might set up a couple more to WU webcams or other blogs or maybe something cool on Upstream, like the hummer cam.

I don't think he'd get into too much trouble like that.

Bug, I'd rather your dad not click anything that to go hogwild and give his retirement to the Nigerians! Giving him some basic lessons would be a good idea; maybe your Smom could help?

I know what you mean, GG! Give me an old but reliable RV, and I'd GoodSam it all over N. America, at least 3-4 months out of the year! Then, I'd well, I can go on for awhile, so I think I'd better go to work, and not think about it! :)

Isn't that the thing, so much to do and so little time to fit it all in. I've always wanted to win the lottery not to buy stuff but to buy more time. So many hobbies to pursue, people to talk to, books to read, gardens that need to be admired...the whole world to be explored. Who needs a fancy house when there is so much to get out and do.
Btw, it's raining today so there won't be much getting out.

yeah, I know you're working there with one hand tied behind your back. You do a great job, though, with what you have available.

I found out that Dad has managed to view the hummer webcam on my blog but he said he hasn't seen the owls. I'm not sure if he just hasn't been able to get that embed to work or if he's looked and the owls are out of camera range or if the cam was down.

He sounded excited about the hummers, though. He said he saw Mum come and go from the nest.

I think, the next time I go up, we're going to have a couple more computer lessons. There's so much he could be seeing but he hasn't a clue how to do it. He won't just start clicking around on a webpage; he's a bit like a deer caught in headlights. If he's not sure what to do or can't remember, he just won't do anything. Poor guy.... Well, I guess he does pretty good for someone his age and no computer expertise. I'm no techie but there are things I can show him.

Bug, I think I have a new cam you both might like, but you'll have to wait until the next blog! :)

This year, the blog will go through some tweaking, but on the whole will be pretty much the same format! This year's voting also gives me an idea of which cams will return from time to time! I wish I could do a new blog every week, but I simply don't have time to find cams and be a good blog neighbor, so I'd rather be a good blog neighbor! :)

Yeah, there's plenty of time to think about having a contest next year. A 10 to 1 scoring system would be good. Keep it simple.

BIG boat in the Canal! And Fat Albert at the feeder.

I'm going to have to set Dad up some easy links on his blog to the Canal cam and maybe the feeder cam the next time I go up. Or the osprey cam. He'd really like those.

He was an avid outdoorsman all his life, so spotting deer at the feeder cam or watching the osprey would be a thrill. Since he's housebound, it would get him 'outside' a little bit again.

He and SMom took a cruise about 15 years ago that went through the Canal and ended up in Acapulco, I think. They flew back from there. Anyway, Dad was enthralled with their passage through the Canal. I think he must have spent the entire time, hanging over the rail.

They went on several dozen cruises. SMom has cruise fever. Dad, not so much. He went because she wanted to go. SMom didn't care much where the cruise went; she just adores the cruise experience. Dad said cruising was OK and he did enjoy seeing different places in the Caribbean but if you've been on one cruise, you've pretty much been on them all.

Dad said there were only 3 cruises he really, really enjoyed: the Panama Canal, the Alaskan and the Hawaiian. The Canal for the engineering, Alaska for the wildlife and Hawaii for the plants and birds.
