A lot of people would think(especially Americans) that when it comes to webcams, the U.S. has a majority of the cams worldwide. However, this is not the case. The webcam site Webcan Galore has over 10,000 webcams in its directory, with only a little over 3,400 coming from America. Since WU is generally mostly frequented by Americans(and even more importantly to me, that I am an American, most of my blogs have at least 3-4 U.S. cams in them.

This week, with one small but important exception, I'm staying away from the U.S., camwise!

Hi Ylee, I think I might be first!! What do ya know there are penguins on the penguin cam! That is very cool. Some cams are still dark, but the ones that are up are neat.

I am glad the election is over, though no matter who became President the next few months are going to be tough! That darn fiscal cliff they are all talking about.

What a lovely new selection - and what a nice diversion the penguins are. It looks like I just missed the replenishing of the corn on the feeder cam - no one seems to have found it yet!

Good morning Ylee:
I will be interested in the Hakai Cam once it brightens up. Here is a link to an article a while ago mentioning archeology research in the area:

Love the Bernardo O'Higgins "PinguinKam" Cam.

Good morning Ylee. Finally got some sleep after the election last night even if it was only from 8 AM to now. Sure feels better anyway. Looking forward to seeing all the new cams up and I agree with the others, the penguin cam will be fun. Many areas are still dark but we will see as the day goes by.

Have a great day. Sure glad the election in the US is over.

Is that Mumble?

got this in an email yesterday and posted it on my blog. With you putting up a penguin cam, it's rather appropos.

ISN'T SCIENCE FASCINATING?
I never knew this!
Did you ever wonder why you never see dead penguins on the ice in Antarctica ?
Where do they go?
Well, wonder no more.

It is a known fact that the penguin is a very ritualistic bird which lives an extremely ordered and complex life. The penguin is very committed to its family and will mate for life, as well as maintain a form of compassionate contact with its offspring throughout its life. If a penguin is found dead on the ice surface, other members of the family and social circle have been known to dig holes in the ice, using their vestigial wings and beaks, until the hole is deep enough for the dead bird to be rolled into, and buried. The male penguins then gather in a circle around the fresh grave and sing:

"Freeze a jolly good fellow, freeze a jolly good fellow, freeze a jolly good fel-looooow, which nobody can deny!"

You really didn't believe that I knew anything about penguins, did you?

Oh quit whining I fell for it, too.....

(As Flip Wilson's character, Geraldine, used to say, "The Devil made me do it!" LOL)

Toro toro, I see there is some prime steaks on the hoof this morning at the feeder cam. Glad TroyLeslie does not mind feeding the cattle who seem to be frequenting the feeder more than the wildlife these days.

Cool morning but should warm up nicely to around 50 today with a 60 in the forecast as the weekend comes. Going to be a nice day for me tomorrow as well. Glad it will remain on a warming trend for a while now. We sure need it.

Have a great day Ylee. Take care.

Also curious about the O'Higgins cam. Looks like the penguins are sheltering in the lee of man made structures. I guess "Base" would be a hint, eh?

Palmetto Bug just got me thinking (oh no), during the 60's, 70's, 80's there were a lot of sayings we all knew. for instance; the devil made me do it, plop plop fizz fizz, where's the beef?, we are two wild n crazy guys, and of course don't squeeze the charmin.

What are todays sayings? I have no idea. Seems like with so many TV channels etc we can't collectively all find the same things to laugh at.

So anyone know what the favorite things are to say these days. Signed, Geezer

GG, that's cuz we're a bunch of Olde Fartes from the Stone Age.

I said something to a coworker a while back about it being 'one of those days' and wishing I had a bottle in my desk drawer like Lou Grant. She laughed, said she wished she had one, too, but then said, "You know, most of our coworkers wouldn't have a clue as to what you were referring to."

Good evening! Working OT today, on my way to 16 hours! This will be my only stop on the blogs today, as I don't have time to visit! :(

This computer can't go to glitch mode, so I can't tell if the cams are working or not; the WU cams are OK, though!

I think the penguin cam is a hit, by looking at your responses! :)

Cal, Shore, GG, Pros, janet, YCD, Alley, Sandi, bug, Reno, Todd, wab, and Trauma(whew!), thank you so much for dropping by and leaving a note!

That's a big bull!

Who cares what they are saying nowadays?

Okie-dokie, ycd, I may have to go to plan C on the African cam! May be something there that's blocking the cam being shown here!

I hope the tablet works for you; I like spending time on the internet looking at the latest electronic doodads(can't afford most of them, lol). They sure have come a long way in a short time!

Sandi, I didn't know you had bad weather; that's what I get for being off-WU! :(

I can right-click on the African cam pic, copy/paste the URL on the browser header, and it will work, but it won't work here on WU. I'll have to find a replacement!

Good evening Ylee. Just finished dinner, took my meds and now ready to go and relax for a bit. Been a bit under the weather although today's temps were great. Sunshine and 65F was nice. Too bad its not staying around for a while. Sure could use it. Looks like tomorrow is our last day of warm weather then winter starts his chilly grasp of us all. Temps will dip into the mid to high 30s for Tuesday's high and will remain in the low 40s for much of Nov. Will have to wait and see if any of that "white stuff" makes it to us. I hope it waits until Dec for it.

This have been fairly quiet otherwise on here. Not much to report as far as anything new on the cams. Love the penguin cam. Cute little stinkers.

Anyway, have a great evening dear one. Stay safe and keep well.

Hi, Alley! Good to see you out on the blogs! I'm in no hurry to see any of the white stuff, either! Most of the time all we get is enough to close schools for a day or two. Last year we almost didn't get any snow at all; it'll probably make up for that this winter!

The Kruger cam is basically a promotion ad. but I can verify that it's not exaggerating. The local Chief of Police adopted our little family group, put us up in a big bungalow and drove us to Ranger's shelters where other tourists are not allowed. He had a large graph on the office wall showing a huge jump in crime the year before: One investigation of theft (the years before were blank) - he figured that it was tourist/tourist crime and it was still unsolved. He had become the best "Greeter" I have ever seen in any travels - out of boredom, I suppose.

Hi, Ylee.

Lots and lots of penguins on the penguin cam.

Do you see the one in the middle, singing "I Gotta Be Me..."? LOL

There's a couple of deer at the feeder cam. Doe and an older fawn.

Bug, there must not be much hunting around there, or there wouldn't be any deer there! Gun season started here this weekend; plenty of booms in the distance!

And there appears to be some work going on alongside the harbour in Adelaide. There are red work barriers in place.

And lots and lots of penguins!

good morning, nice new cams. I see you are having some rain, we are suppose to later. It has been beautiful here for a couple of days should be again today. Max smoked a chicken on the grill yesterday. Probably will be the last one of the year. We are still of the old school, charcoal & wood. Way too much work in the winter.
Have a good one & take care...

Good morning YLee.
I used a platic shovel to clean the Queen's car. I can't remember getting that much snow in one dump before.
Luckily the Queen was off yesterday and again today. I'm sure her workplace still has to clear the parking lot.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning! It's cold! It's rainy! It's windy! Did I mention that it's cold? :) What a yucky day! I'm about ready to whip up some hot chocolate, and take a nap! Well, I would, if I was home! :)

Cams are working today; looks like the penguins are being blasted by snow! The Agordino valley is covered in fog and mist! A lot of cams are still dark at this time!

Hi, Alley! I can guarantee those pups have access to the highest quality food that money can buy! Noyhing but high octane exhaust from those guys!(and girls!) :)

Hi, Sandi! Glad you like the cam in the Maldives, but it's no substitue for the pelicam! A little over two weeks, and Milos is supposed to be back online! Can't wait!

Good morning, wab! Ah, the temperature in the 60's; I remember like it was yesterday! ;-) It's around 40 here now!

And thanks for the compliment!

Good morning, janet! I'm old school too, using only a charcoal grill! However, I don't let the winter slow me down much; I've grilled steaks and hamburgers in subfrezzing temps before! The only thing that'll stop me is rain!

The chicken sounds good!

Be careful with the plastic shovel, Tony! You may still scratch the paint on the Queen's car, and she might put a knot on your head! :) I'm glad she didn't have to get out in that mess, though!

I about spewed sliced tomatoes all over my monitor over that sled dog cartoon!

It's one of the dangers of blogging while eating lunch.

The season has started here in Sept, I think, and the deer are on the move. Sadly, I saw at least 4 hit by cars on the way home from Dad's last weekend.

Deer are far more plentiful now than when I was younger, thanks to conservation practices. I could've used up a couple of deer tags myself this year just using the truck, if it weren't for the quick application of brakes!

Hey Ylee: if there is a traffic cam from Cairo it might be interesting. Istanbul scared me but I drove there - Cairo we took taxis.
'Course there is Siam Reap to compete for confusing.
Hopefully I can check in now and then but I'm out from the home terminal this afternoon.
