Melange is a word of French origin that means a mixture or a blend of things. Potpourri is another word of similar meaning and origin, but I personally like melange better! :) Anyway, I try to keep many different types of webcams on the blog; landscapes, seascapes, cities, farms, and various kinds of wildlife, from all over the world.

Most of us here on WU that create their own blogs do so not only for their self-satisfaction, but for the visitors and lurkers that stop by. If it wasn't for you, I probably wouldn't to a blog, as I could simply bookmark a cam I like, and visit it whenever I wished. If I did this blog for myself, the cams would have a lot more soaring vistas, and fewer cams of animals and cities. But folks like critters, and folks like people, and folks like stuff happening, so those cams are searched for and placed in the blog!

Oh dear...the fence must be broken again. Cows are at the feeder once more. Whoever owns those animals will have to do something to keep them out of TroyLeslie's property. This can get to be an expensive adventure if they keep knocking down the fence to get to the food.

looks as if Alley has all the luck, the ost i ever see lately is a bird or maybe two. Those are some mighty healthy looking cows. Might have to rename that cam the cowcam

We had a tiny bit of frost on the roof tops this morning so I guess winter has offically arrived in these parts.

Alley, 5 cows? How come I miss the fun visits to the feeding station? Wonderful that you caught this scene and shared with us.

I also shared this cow scene with TroyLeslie. I doubt they will be too happy to see these animals again raiding their feeding station...LOL Maybe they should just set up an outdoor milking area there and make them earn their keep...LOL

Good morning! Looks like the cams were busy while I was away! Had a busy couple of days off, but half of my fall projects are done! :)

Milos update, from their website:"Attention ! The router and the modem must be changed, the webcam will start upon the 29. november, sorry !" Really? Four weeks to get a router and modem? They must have it delivered by a slow boat from China! :)

Work begins on a new blog, to be posted by the end of the week! No theme in mind so far!

Hi,Alley! I see the cows are at it again! If I was them, and those cows kept breaking in, I'd settle for some ribeyes, or a brisket! :)

Good morning, Tony!

Belated, white rabbits back, Pros! Our leaves have been whirling for a couple weeks now, leaving "leaf drifts" along the edge of the driveway!

Mornin', Todd! Glad you survived! :)

BF, I think OK cattle are a little leaner, aren't they? :)

Hi, Janet! I thought American youth dressed wierd! Is that a guy or a girl sitting on the ledge?

Frost neans winter for you? I think you need a little snow to confirm it! :)

Good morning Ylee:
It is easier to cook up a comment when you are around the blog. 'Course this morning my cooker seems to be broken.
My instructions last night were:
"Take tomorrow off so you can help out around here."
It's soon to be winter so I will order the sheet metal for the roof and try to figure out how to flash the stone chimney - maybe just build a wooden Chase around it. About 10C. and mist here

I'm back! After a brief shower this morning, it seems that most of the precip is staying north!

Hi, ycd! My cooker has a burnt element about half the time, too~ :) The only advice I can give about flashing and roofing is don't spare the roof cement! :)

Alley, those cows have a nose for corn, it seems! I think that black calf and its mom are repeat customers!

I do have a regular schedule, Rob! Two dayshifts, followed by two nightshifts, followed by four days off! HR gives us a full sized shift calendar every year! Otherwise, I'm here on OT!

Hmmm... you wouldn't think it could happen so fast, but it's clear from the feeder cam that the sun is much lower in the skies. The shadows are different, and the quality of the light is, too. The year is winding down.

I mentioned somewhere that I had a real shock when I came home. My neighbor has her Christmas wreath hung already. Gack! I know we're past Halloween, but just barely. Back in The Old Days, no one put up a lick of Christmas stuff until after Thanksgiving. I'm all in favor of that - but of course, I'm getting old and crotchety and mostly am not "with it" at all any more!

Had a wonderful trip, and just need to get myself settled otherwise so I can share a bit of it. There was a lion trainer to go with the elephant - what's not to like about that?

ADD: I liked your comment about the NWS channel. On the other hand, government funding means government management, and the inability of FEMA to deliver water until Monday is a bit curious. Just for your amusement, here's their solicitation of bid. It's a .gov site, so it should be ok for you.

I guess I still live Back in the Old Days, since I don't touch christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving! I have an aunt however, that has a house full of Christmas decorations, including three Christrmas trees! I'd hate to have to pay her light bill! :)

The link you provided shows a blank white screen; may be an issue with the Glitchamatic.

Another issue with the "NWS Channel" is the inevitable politics that would go with it; for example, would the channel have an opinion on the GW debate, and who would have a say in their opinion, Republicans, or Democrats?

Christmas decorations do not go up here, as in my house, until the weekend before Christmas. This year I may condescend to put them up on the 15th/16th as Chrismas Eve is the next Sunday!

We are celebrating Bonfire night here.... Flash, bang, whizzzzz!

Glad you didn't post the entire text, Shore; my brain could've ended up tied in knots! Lawyerese is mostly Greek to me! :) I did see where FEMA was paying about $3/gal for water; I think I could score it cheaper at Sam's Club! :) A pretty profit, to be sure!

Ah, Guy Fawkes' Night! Try keeping your banging and whizzing to a minimum, Sandi! Remember, you're still recovering! :)

Good morning! Had a frosty fog this morning! Not supposed to warm up past the low 50s, but at least the sun will be shining!

Time allowing, I'll be jumping into scouting for the new blog with both feet! As long as I don't land in a cow patty, I'll be fine! :)

Good morning, Tony! Well, for now, I'm still on the greenside! :) I'll let you know when I'm on the whiteside! :)

Anyway dear one, have a great day. Catch you a bit later when I check to see if the 4 legged brownies are back at the feeder..LOL

I was fine with the chillier temp reading yesterday because the sun was shining. Unlike today the temp is higher but not much sun hence I'm a bit chilly. In fact I skipped out on church services this morning because there were not enough warm bodies to make the temperature rise even though the thermostat was on 70*.

Looks like the best spot today via webcam is Thailand

You still have green out your way! Our grass is now mostly brown especially in the shady spots.

Hi, Alley! No bovines today! :) I just realized that the clock in the Shack needs to be set back! That ought to tell you how much I look at it, lol!

Janet, the green in our yard is mostly weeds! Come to think of it, that's what usually grows during the summer, lol!

Good morning Ylee. Yup its 2 AM here and just waiting a half hour more then will put food out for the "crew" then head back to bed. Went to watch a little TV last night but ended up turning it off at 8 PM after only a half hour of listening to it. Too much damn political BS being spewed. Will be so glad once this election is over and people have finally stopped their bitchin' about who got in where etc....LOL Sure glad I am a Canadian and we have "civilized" voting here when it comes to election times. The candidates get 2-3 months to say what needs to be said then it's voting time. None of this drawn out mudslinging BS. As you can see from our last election, we Canadian's don't suffer Mudslingers easily. The last one (EX-Liberal leader, was defeated with a big majority and he almost ruined the Liberal party with his antics.)

Anyway, have a great shift. At least you can't complain its too hot on the floor....We probably will see a bit of frost as well before morning.
