Melange is a word of French origin that means a mixture or a blend of things. Potpourri is another word of similar meaning and origin, but I personally like melange better! :) Anyway, I try to keep many different types of webcams on the blog; landscapes, seascapes, cities, farms, and various kinds of wildlife, from all over the world.

Most of us here on WU that create their own blogs do so not only for their self-satisfaction, but for the visitors and lurkers that stop by. If it wasn't for you, I probably wouldn't to a blog, as I could simply bookmark a cam I like, and visit it whenever I wished. If I did this blog for myself, the cams would have a lot more soaring vistas, and fewer cams of animals and cities. But folks like critters, and folks like people, and folks like stuff happening, so those cams are searched for and placed in the blog!

Ylee has created a new entry.
Good morning Ylee. Looks like it's finally over and things will start to get back to normal for most folks. Stayed up to watch Obama's speech and was surprised he failed to mention all the hard work that former President Clinton did to make sure the Democrats had a good chance.

Now we can get back to more mundane things like the weather...Looks like we are in for some really nice weather by the wknd. Sure looking forward to the warm up. Been just a bit too chilly for me.

Anyway, dear one, have a great Wednesday. I really should try to get some sleep but it seems to be evading me at the moment so I will have a hot coffee and take my meds.

Pros, all I can say is that it doesn't matter in Va. anymore!

Trauma, your father has my total and complete sympathy!

Glad it is over....apparently Florida was a real battleground state....my dad said they took their phone off the hook during the day.....was getting three or four calls per hour this morning

Ylee, we still do not know who won in VA!

You know Trauma, I never had one political phone call through the whole election season! Of course, Ky. was largely ignored by the national races, and there was actually only one very small local race, so we were spared, I think!

Pros, I'm listening to NPR's coverage(Your county has been mentioned as critical to the Virginia vote, BTW), and I dozed off! :)

Hi Ylee. I need to go to sleep as I am tired but I can't settle down and curiosity is killing me anyways. I have tried shutting off the tv, reading, crossword puzzles, anything to keep my attention from the election results. But darn it, curiosity is stronger than any other attempt at being cool and collected. I hope that you are having a calmer time tonight than I am.

Off to a busy start here tonight. Glad this election stuff is over....had to turn phone off today to sleep.....had messages from Obama, Romney, and Clint Eastwood when I woke up!! only 9 1/2 hours to go!!

Good evening! Another drizzly, chilly night so far! Supposed to warm up later in the week, maybe even hitting 70 by the weekend!

Job #1 is getting that last cam and putting the new blog up! Maybe I'll have some extra time to roam the blogs later!

Hi, Patti! It was actually rather nice going to the polls this morning, as the sun was shining!

Hi, Tony! You're on the right blog this time! :)

Sandi, I'm already ready for spring, and it's not even winter yet! :)

Alley, I think we'll always be "stuck"! :) As a matter of fact, if there were no politics, would the polar ice cap be melting as much? :)
Member Since: February 3, 2011 Posts: 92 Comments: 15376
Woke up to thick fog which is now finally disappearing. Hopefully that will bring a change in weather and warmer temps will be in our forecast. Or is this the result of all the political hot air out of the US mingling with our cool temps that is causing this...LOL Good luck America. Choose wisely cause your gonna be stuck with whoever for the next 4 yrs.

Have a great Nov 6th.

Just a quick "Hi and Bye" ...

Loved to see the lights on in Helsinki - they are a little further north than we are, so it gets dark earlier. Since the clocks went forward the weekend before last, it gets dark by 4:15 and by Christmas it wil be dark by 3:30ish! Roll on Spring!

Good morning YLee.
I could be that Mush hadn't gone to bed yet or I scrolled past the the end of his current blog and posted in the previous one. I remember doing that in your blog until I watched where I was more carefully.
Enjoy the day.

Got all my cams picked except one! I should get that one tonight, and post the blog by tomorrow morning!

Time to go vote and go home; think they'll let me use a blindfold and some darts on the ballot? :)

Things are slowing down, but not enough to take a lunch break yet! :( Maybe in the next hour....
Member Since: February 3, 2011 Posts: 92 Comments: 15376
Good morning Ylee. Yup its 2 AM here and just waiting a half hour more then will put food out for the "crew" then head back to bed. Went to watch a little TV last night but ended up turning it off at 8 PM after only a half hour of listening to it. Too much damn political BS being spewed. Will be so glad once this election is over and people have finally stopped their bitchin' about who got in where etc....LOL Sure glad I am a Canadian and we have "civilized" voting here when it comes to election times. The candidates get 2-3 months to say what needs to be said then it's voting time. None of this drawn out mudslinging BS. As you can see from our last election, we Canadian's don't suffer Mudslingers easily. The last one (EX-Liberal leader, was defeated with a big majority and he almost ruined the Liberal party with his antics.)

Anyway, have a great shift. At least you can't complain its too hot on the floor....We probably will see a bit of frost as well before morning.

Maybe it will slow down man!! Thunderstorms rolling through here now....not terrebly common here when it is only 50 degrees!!

Good evening! Super busy night so far; this has been my first opportunity to sit down at the computer tonight! Chilly, cloudy, and damp, temp has been hovering around 45 all day!

If I have a chance, I'll finish scouting for cams tonight, and do the new blog tomorrow night!

Tell me about it, Todd! I still have 9 1/2 hours to go! :P

I have five cams for the new blog so far; not bad! :)

Hi, Alley! No bovines today! :) I just realized that the clock in the Shack needs to be set back! That ought to tell you how much I look at it, lol!

Janet, the green in our yard is mostly weeds! Come to think of it, that's what usually grows during the summer, lol!
Member Since: February 3, 2011 Posts: 92 Comments: 15376
I was fine with the chillier temp reading yesterday because the sun was shining. Unlike today the temp is higher but not much sun hence I'm a bit chilly. In fact I skipped out on church services this morning because there were not enough warm bodies to make the temperature rise even though the thermostat was on 70*.

Looks like the best spot today via webcam is Thailand

You still have green out your way! Our grass is now mostly brown especially in the shady spots.

Good morning Ylee....No frost yet here but it sure feels cold out. Still have to change my clocks sometime today...LOL At least I am still good enough in math to be able to substract an hour from what the clock says at the moment...

Anyway dear one, have a great day. Catch you a bit later when I check to see if the 4 legged brownies are back at the feeder..LOL

Good morning! Had a frosty fog this morning! Not supposed to warm up past the low 50s, but at least the sun will be shining!

Time allowing, I'll be jumping into scouting for the new blog with both feet! As long as I don't land in a cow patty, I'll be fine! :)

Good morning, Tony! Well, for now, I'm still on the greenside! :) I'll let you know when I'm on the whiteside! :)

Member Since: February 3, 2011 Posts: 92 Comments: 15376
Good evening YLee.
Not only does it feel cold here the ground is now white.
It's time to change my responce to the question " How are you" when I meet someone from still on the greenside to still on the white side.
Have a good shift.

Glad you didn't post the entire text, Shore; my brain could've ended up tied in knots! Lawyerese is mostly Greek to me! :) I did see where FEMA was paying about $3/gal for water; I think I could score it cheaper at Sam's Club! :) A pretty profit, to be sure!

Ah, Guy Fawkes' Night! Try keeping your banging and whizzing to a minimum, Sandi! Remember, you're still recovering! :)

Christmas decorations do not go up here, as in my house, until the weekend before Christmas. This year I may condescend to put them up on the 15th/16th as Chrismas Eve is the next Sunday!

We are celebrating Bonfire night here.... Flash, bang, whizzzzz!

I guess I still live Back in the Old Days, since I don't touch christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving! I have an aunt however, that has a house full of Christmas decorations, including three Christrmas trees! I'd hate to have to pay her light bill! :)

The link you provided shows a blank white screen; may be an issue with the Glitchamatic.

Another issue with the "NWS Channel" is the inevitable politics that would go with it; for example, would the channel have an opinion on the GW debate, and who would have a say in their opinion, Republicans, or Democrats?
Member Since: February 3, 2011 Posts: 92 Comments: 15376
Hmmm... you wouldn't think it could happen so fast, but it's clear from the feeder cam that the sun is much lower in the skies. The shadows are different, and the quality of the light is, too. The year is winding down.

I mentioned somewhere that I had a real shock when I came home. My neighbor has her Christmas wreath hung already. Gack! I know we're past Halloween, but just barely. Back in The Old Days, no one put up a lick of Christmas stuff until after Thanksgiving. I'm all in favor of that - but of course, I'm getting old and crotchety and mostly am not "with it" at all any more!

Had a wonderful trip, and just need to get myself settled otherwise so I can share a bit of it. There was a lion trainer to go with the elephant - what's not to like about that?

ADD: I liked your comment about the NWS channel. On the other hand, government funding means government management, and the inability of FEMA to deliver water until Monday is a bit curious. Just for your amusement, here's their solicitation of bid. It's a .gov site, so it should be ok for you.

I'm back! After a brief shower this morning, it seems that most of the precip is staying north!

Hi, ycd! My cooker has a burnt element about half the time, too~ :) The only advice I can give about flashing and roofing is don't spare the roof cement! :)

Alley, those cows have a nose for corn, it seems! I think that black calf and its mom are repeat customers!

I do have a regular schedule, Rob! Two dayshifts, followed by two nightshifts, followed by four days off! HR gives us a full sized shift calendar every year! Otherwise, I'm here on OT!

Good morning Ylee:
It is easier to cook up a comment when you are around the blog. 'Course this morning my cooker seems to be broken.
My instructions last night were:
"Take tomorrow off so you can help out around here."
It's soon to be winter so I will order the sheet metal for the roof and try to figure out how to flash the stone chimney - maybe just build a wooden Chase around it. About 10C. and mist here

Good morning! Looks like the cams were busy while I was away! Had a busy couple of days off, but half of my fall projects are done! :)

Milos update, from their website:"Attention ! The router and the modem must be changed, the webcam will start upon the 29. november, sorry !" Really? Four weeks to get a router and modem? They must have it delivered by a slow boat from China! :)

Work begins on a new blog, to be posted by the end of the week! No theme in mind so far!

Hi,Alley! I see the cows are at it again! If I was them, and those cows kept breaking in, I'd settle for some ribeyes, or a brisket! :)

Good morning, Tony!

Belated, white rabbits back, Pros! Our leaves have been whirling for a couple weeks now, leaving "leaf drifts" along the edge of the driveway!

Mornin', Todd! Glad you survived! :)

BF, I think OK cattle are a little leaner, aren't they? :)

Hi, Janet! I thought American youth dressed wierd! Is that a guy or a girl sitting on the ledge?

Frost neans winter for you? I think you need a little snow to confirm it! :)

I also shared this cow scene with TroyLeslie. I doubt they will be too happy to see these animals again raiding their feeding station...LOL Maybe they should just set up an outdoor milking area there and make them earn their keep...LOL
Member Since: April 18, 2007 Posts: 190 Comments: 29420
Alley, 5 cows? How come I miss the fun visits to the feeding station? Wonderful that you caught this scene and shared with us.
Member Since: May 6, 2008 Posts: 169 Comments: 18101
looks as if Alley has all the luck, the ost i ever see lately is a bird or maybe two. Those are some mighty healthy looking cows. Might have to rename that cam the cowcam

We had a tiny bit of frost on the roof tops this morning so I guess winter has offically arrived in these parts.
Member Since: March 14, 2006 Posts: 46 Comments: 1424
Dang. That's some fat cattle.

Hi Ylee.
Thanks for the Hallloween greetings on my blog.
Member Since: Posts: Comments:
Oh dear...the fence must be broken again. Cows are at the feeder once more. Whoever owns those animals will have to do something to keep them out of TroyLeslie's property. This can get to be an expensive adventure if they keep knocking down the fence to get to the food.

I live and work in metropolitan Lewisport, KY. I like webcams, through which I can see the whole world!
