Melange is a word of French origin that means a mixture or a blend of things. Potpourri is another word of similar meaning and origin, but I personally like melange better! :) Anyway, I try to keep many different types of webcams on the blog; landscapes, seascapes, cities, farms, and various kinds of wildlife, from all over the world.

Most of us here on WU that create their own blogs do so not only for their self-satisfaction, but for the visitors and lurkers that stop by. If it wasn't for you, I probably wouldn't to a blog, as I could simply bookmark a cam I like, and visit it whenever I wished. If I did this blog for myself, the cams would have a lot more soaring vistas, and fewer cams of animals and cities. But folks like critters, and folks like people, and folks like stuff happening, so those cams are searched for and placed in the blog!

Good morning Ylee:
I've been meaning to comment but usually when I check the Cams the last comment is yours and it says something like: "See you in 20."
T'would be timely to put up cams showing places along Sandy's route.
We have light driz at about 8C. Wind ESE maybe 6kn. I'm watching because we are taxiing a young fella I work with over to the other island with his lady and step daughter later this morning. Wind Warning up for this aft.
We rode a ferry on the Chao Phraya and a couple in and out of Greece. The Cams bring back good memories:
We hopped on a ferry from Corfu to Venice and did not take a cabin imagining we could sleep in the Pullman seats for a night. The next morning I looked out expecting to see the Italian coast. Nope - the Adriatic Sea is much bigger than I figured or the boat was slower so we had another night aboard. Nobody was comfortable in the Pullmans so we had slept on the floor. We somehow captured a couple of lounge chairs on the back deck and slept on them the next night. However: depending on the wind direction a diesel boat does not always leave it's soot behind. A lot of that soot accumulated on us and our pack sacks.

Good morning! A cold, raw, slap-in-the-face kind of day so far; started off cloudy, but is now clearing, temps are in the low-to-mid 40s with a stiff wind!

Earlier, the Monture cam was showing a setting moon! Pretty cool! The Styra and Bangkok cams are behaving themselves this morning, so that's a good thing!

Saw this note on the Milos website: "Attention ! Devices have been destroyed during a thunderstorm. We are working! Asking for some patience !" Glad it's just a hardware problem! It'll be interesting if any changes come to the optics or the view once the work is complete!

If time allows, I may suspend this blog, and do a "Frankensandy" blog. We'll see!

Hi, Rob! Hope you had a good night!

Good morning, Tony! Here at work, we have several halogen bulbs that have loose wiring, so when the light is on, the bulb heats up, the contacts expand and come apart, and the bulb goes out! When it cools, the contacts come back together, and the light comes on again!

Good morning.
It looks like my halogen light burnt out. I guess they don't like snapping on in the cooler weather.
Enjoy the night.

Hey, the monkeys kidnapped the tourist that was standing too close and took him up into the hills. They are demanding skittles and cigarettes. Bad monkeys. It's that or I need to learn how to do screen captures to post pics from the live cams.

I have not had a day that has been so totally wacked out as this one in monnths!

Canyonlands cam is showing perfect weather, unlike here! :P If I have time, I'm going to give the Fiji cam the boot!

Janet, you're time's acomin'! :) I saw somewhere that West Viginia could get 8-10 inches of snow! I'm glad I don't live in the mountains!

Safe is boring! ;-)

Rob, I checked the website too; I usually do that first when I see a cam's gone down, to see if it's the cam owner's problem, or a WU or Glitchamatic problem!

yep, I suspect the Fuji cam is also stuck. Either that or that man under the coconut tree has nothing else to do :)
We are still warm & now sunny. It is going to change with Sandys passing. Like you said "tis that time of year". However right now we still have the a/c going.

be safe..

Good morning! Cold, wet, and a good day to stay in bed, if given the option! Indian Summer is officially over here, as we begin a week of 50s/30s! It's almost November, however, so this weather is to be expected!

I guess I'm going to have to pull the plug on Milos for the time being, as it's been down for almost two days! :( Is the Fiji cam is down, too!

Cal, you can always have my cake; my ever expanding waistline surely doesn't! :)

GG, what you posted isn't an actual capture, just a copy of what I have up in the header! Your "pic" is black now!

Glad your cake is living up to the hype!

Hi, Alley! Pretty much a miserable day for any man or beast that's outside! Fortunately, I am not one of them! :)

Tony, we're getting a slightly warmer version of what you've had lately! What we need is someone from the south turning their fans our way! :)

Ugh! The last four hours have been busy! Kinda dragged too, sort of like getting a double whammy! :P

Not liking the way Milos and Napier are staying down; may have to do something tomorrow!

GG, you'll have to eat the cake yourself this time; I'm going home and crashing!

It's already been down to about 30 this fall, I'm not going to stress the cold!

Honestly, Rob, I've been too busy to notice! :) I may have time to check out your reply!

I want to bake something this afternoon. Spouse is out of town and calories aren't too much of an issue for me yet. Mmmmmm triple chocolate cake with creme cheese frosting...and some strawberrys with cream as a side.

I'm still here! Staying over four extra at my regular post! I'll be back on my regular shift tomorrow morning, so I'm using my daytime avy!

If you like cold(and I know you do!), you may want to reconsider and take your pup to Montana, cal! It's snowing and 19F.!

Ha, ha, ha, that's real funny, Sandi! I've never seen the Milos cam go dark for this long! :( I hope it's not a sign of the troubled Greek economy!

I feel like a hike in the smokies today, I need to borrow a couple of pups though. Can't take a long hike without canine companionship.

You better get your long johns out for this weekend. Looks like it will be a tad chilly.

It is still dark at the montana cam, so smokies here I come.

One question - does the Helsinki cam keep changing positions? I am sure there was a different view yesterday!

And I have not had beans for breakfast!!!!

Hi YLee...long shift ahead for you. I am just about ready to go and jump in my nice warm bed and get a few zzzzzs before I have to feed the troup. Spoiled brats...LOL

Things are pretty quiet around here but we will see what the wknd will bring besides shivers... yup going get chilly for the most part now until the first week in Nov. Soon it will be time to grab the s..w shovel out of the garage and bring it up to the porch here. Hell that also means that Xmas isn't that far away either...Holy crap...Xmas shopping will soon start. Now that is a scary thought.

Anyway dear one, have a great night, try not to work too hard and hope its not too busy for you.

Good evening! Almost balmy tonight; temps are still in the upper 60s as of 8PM! One more nice day, then a cold front arrives on Friday, bringing us rain and a rapid cooldown to 50s/30s by Sunday! Well, it was nice while it lasted!

Cams look OK; Helsinki cam still shows well at night! Saw a deer at the feeder cam, and people hanging out with the hot tubbin' monkeys! :)

Oh yes, Tony, kids have strong magnets inside them that attract them to puddles! :)

Hi, Alley! So the cows are not supposed to be around the feeder cam! I'm sure Troyleslie appreciates whatever tips you have for them! I'm humbled that they check out the blog!

Hi, Janet! Went out and enjoyed the outdoors today; didn't get any projects started, but that's OK! :)

Are you close enough to the Smokies for a day trip?

Hi Ylee...I guess the cows have been herded back into their side of the fence once more since I sent TroyLeslie a note. She checks out your blog and with the pic I put up here with the cows, I am sure she got the "picture" LOL. I got to see the horses the other morning but now the pasture is covered in that white stuff we dare not mention in these parts... Gorgeous day here, only a very light breeze, lots of sunshine now that the rains stopped last night with temps into the 70s today. Have a great day buddy. Try not to work too hard and get some much needed rest.

Good morning Ylee.
Yup there's puddles every where. It's funny, the biggest one is right at the gate to the schoolyard. I remarked to a teacher when picking up the ggrandaughter that the city must have planned that so the kids could play in it.
Enjoy the day.

Been away from my own blog too long! between work and the other blogs.....

Napier cam is down; there are two cams at Napier, and neither are working, so I'm assuming that it's a server problem!

It's a cold and snowy day at Monture; I don't see any horses!
