I live and work in metropolitan Lewisport, KY. I like webcams, through which I can see the whole world!

The "marketplace" theme sort of happened; I was looking for fall colors in the NE when I came across the bookstore cam. It offered the best view, so I kept it. Last night, I found the Bensheim cam and the Guilin cam, and a theme was born! When I found the Hi-fi cam, it had to be in, too! :)
Reno, if I butcherd a deer, (or anything else), I would label the pieces of meat like "hip", "shoulder", and "belly"! :)
Nine days off? If I had nine days off, my wife would wind up chasing me off with a broom, lol!
We got sbout 2 inches of the white stuff. It's a lot bertter than to the south east of us. where they had almost a foot of the stuff.
Our's should all be gone today.
have a good sleep when you get home.
Also the little community I grew up in had all those little Mom & Pop stores. The last time we visited several were still in business even though Walmart was in town.
Have you really bougth a truck with the click of the mouse? Our #1 son has bought 3 vehicles that way.
No me, I'm still the 'touchy feely' type. I will buy books online but only after I have seen them in the bookstore.
I've rattled on long enough. Home soon for you now so Good night.
Have a great week.... 'see' you soon !
Thanks, Sandi! It will be a fine day when you grace our blogs again!
Time to go home; be back on OT tonight!
By the way Guilin with her mountains and river are absolutely beautiful! So beautiful that the natural beauty of the area is the subject of Chinese landscapes, current and past.
Well, nice choice of cams and thank you for bringing the feeding station back. And a particular thank you for bringing back the watering hole, can't wait to see the Zebras, etc.
One more day at work then off one then back one then off one then work four! By November I should be off 3 work 4, can't wait!
Neat theme!
Lots of good people watching cams this time, Ylee.
That Cooper Island cam has a FABULOUS view!
Speaking of bookstores, my favorite used book store closed over 5 years ago. Altantic Books, which was on King St. downtown. A long, narrow shop, filled to the brim with books! Bookshelves everywhere and all kinds of nooks and crannies to get lost in. I bought a number of books there. Wish I'd gotten more. I notice that places like Barnes & Noble tend to carry too many soft backs. When I buy a book, I want a hardback. They last longer. I only buy books that I will read over and over again. Classics.
Atlantic Books had a lot of Agatha Christie's in hardback. It looked like they had all been published by the same house as a series. I could kick myself for not buying them all.
Also an Edward Gorey alphabet book. Dang, I wish I'd bought it! LOL
I did get a great Annotated Sherlock Holmes set. An Annotated Alice in Wonderland. Some children's books, mostly E. Nesbit. I do love classic children's books.
I also found a replacement for a book I'd loaned to someone and never got back: Gnomes. Mama had given me that one year for Christmas, when I was in my early 20's. It's really cool!
It's important to support the mom-n-pop shops. Even at the big box places using the people check out line as opposed to the scan it yourself line can make a difference in saving jobs.
We don't have anything in the way of indie grocers around here. We do have some mom-n-pop restaurants and bakeries that I make a habit of going to.
Good blog topic!
I can see the three non-glitch cams; the other seven are showing a red x, as I'm not on my normal computer!
Hey, Trauma! Is this your last night? I still have two more nights to go after tonight!
Wab, I think you're getting a head start on this cold business! It was 39 here this morning, but it'll be colder by tomorrow night!
Wow, Pros, you've been to Guilin? It never ceases to amaze me when I put up a cam from some exotic location, only to have a WUer share a personal association or memory of it! I would imagine you being American had to do with the young ladies' persistence!
Cal, day on, day off, day on, ect. I would need a calendar, lol! Are the extra days not in a row OT? That would make sense to me! SP tipped me about the Mt. Wilson cam; this was the first chance for me to use it!
Hi, Alley! When I'm working mega hours, pacing is everything. When I get tired, I'll tell the supervisors no when they ask to stay or come in. It's not too bad at the moment, but I imagine I'll be wearing a jacket when I leave in the morning!]
Bug, sometimes when I see a cam, I'll think "So and so would like that one.". I thought you would like the bookstore cam! A lot of your blogs have centered around the English language and literature, soo I figured it would be a natural fit!
Have you tried online sources for adding to your book collection? I'm sure you could find almost everything you could want!
GG, I don't like the do-it-yourself checkout lines, either. I really don't get them, anyway, since they all have someone there to help you scan your stuff, anyway.
We have a small grocer in Owensboro that caters to lower income families. At the beginning of the month, when folks get their food stamp vouchers, they have amazing deals on meat, even cheaper than Sam's Club! Whole ribeyes for $6 a pound? Oh, yeah! :)
Yeah...last night....has been a bit more exciting tonight....actually got to use some skills!! Woo Hoo!! guess they never go away....or I hope they dont!!
Clear and cool in NW Florida....and a bit shocked that my Noles got upset by NC State....glad I was at work though....did not want to actually see that happen :-(
All looks good.... :-)
If you worked today you should be ready to go home and sleep.
Gotta love this cam.
Have a great day while I go and play chef now. I have had my fix of big ships....LOL
No deer at the feeder cam. There's a little round something. Squirrel? Wabit? I can't tell.
I dug two holes to plant two plants this morning and now I feel like I'm about 150 years old. I ache from head to foot.
I need a husky, handsome young yard man but I don't think Hubby will let me have one, though. Rats.....
We'd have to rob a bank for the extra cash to hire one.
Once again, I'm only able to see Milos, Akitio, and the feeder cam; not much to report there, except that Milos has it's own weathersticker, instead of using the one at Santorini Island!
Happy Thanksgiving, Alley! Nice capture! Looks like another Princess Cruise Lines ship!
Bug, all I can say is a couple of gallons of glyphosphate and a two gallon sprayer will cure all your landscaping problems, lol!
I'm getting kinda pooped myself; after tomorrow night's shift ends Tuesday morning, I will have worked 96 hours in 7 days. 12 hr. shifts aren't too bad, but 16 hrs. a day gives me a classic case of dragon azz. :)
The Queen has held off the big meal untill today.
Enjoy the day.
Everybody take care! I'll be back for my last night tonight!
Lots of sailboats at the Beef Island, several deer at the feeding station, the market in Guilin is teeming with millions of people (as usual), the Japanese camera is deserted and orderly, zebras are hanging around the watering hole. The world is as it should be.
Have a wonderful day.
ADD: I just read back. Yes, we have been to Guilin, about five years ago we spent over a month in China. We were with a tour and it was a very interesting trip, lots of ups and some downs.
Anyway have a great day.
I do like your theme, too. I'm proud to say I haven't set foot in a Walmart in over two years now. Like you, I do admit to making a few clicks and waiting for the truck to show up. Then again, if I can find it locally (like within 30 miles or so) I'll buy it and don't even mind if it costs 50 cents more than some big box store might charge. And happily, I've found that the big box stores aren't always cheapest anyway, or don't sell the same quality as the mom-and-pop. Okay, 'nough said.
You're doing good, Ylee. Keep on keepin' on!
The cams are in fine form, which is a relief, since I'm in my regular spot on OT, and I can now see them all! :) Boats should be coming in at Akitio in the next couple of hours! Nice evening in California, too! We'll see how tenacious the Germans are in a few hours, as presently it's cold and rainy there!
Pros, all does look well, a least where the cams are!
A month in China? I'm sure a trip of that magnitude would have the occasional hiccup, no matter how professional the tour operators are!
Alley, you would think that those ships already know what order to pass the locks! Maybe there was a language issue between the lock operator and the captain of one of the boats.
Briar, I have no idea why they would call it that! Per wikipedia:
Cooper Island WikiMiniAtlas18°23′09″N 64°30′42″W / 18.3859°N 64.5118°W / 18.3859; -64.5118Coordinates: 18°23′09″N 64°30′42″W / 18.3859°N 64.5118°W / 18.3859; -64.5118 is a small island of the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean. There are five privately owned properties on the island, plus a small beach club resort.
The island lies adjacent to "wreck alley", a popular wreck diving site in the British Virgin Islands where a number of vessels have been deliberately sunk as dive sites. A local dive store near the beach club rents tanks to certified scuba divers.
From the Villa website:
The house at Quart-A-Nancy Point is one of only a few private homes on Cooper Island. It was built in the 1960s and 70s as an artist's retreat. The construction is concrete, concrete block, and native stone.
Beats me! :)
Thank you for your kind compliments! I will keep on keeping on, as long as I am able!
Zebras at the water hole; two guys at HI-Fi Do and the trailers at Akitio
I think the Hi-Fi place would be a cool place to hang out; cheesy furniture, giant speakers, turntables, and more vinyl LPs than you can shake a stick at! :)
Hi ycd, the days are getting longer at Akitio, so we'll have more opportunities to see the boats!
Hi Alley, have you tried the other cams at the Canal? I think there are three or four of them!
The medal project is turning out to be a bigger project than I expected but soon I'll have it complete and post a photo on the blog.
I guess you were posting on my blog as I was on yours.
