Hi Guys!

Just a quick question for you all! What is the first hurricane name that pops in your mind? I'm going to use this information in my research report, so please comment! (Don't worry, I'll add you all to my credits) And when I am finished with my report, I will post it so that everyone can read it. :-)

Thanks!

My most memorable was Irene. We were in Washionton D.C., and the earthquake hit (which was kind of cool, and there is another story to that, just ask me for it if you want to hear it),then Irene was coming, projected to hit us at a Catergory 3 or higher. Something was just telling us to GET OUT... :) We made it home before Irene hit. :) lol My second most memorable one was Frances, because we evactated to Atlanta GA, and when we got home after a very relaxing week by the pool with great sausage and bacon, we had a huge mess to clean up, and the water was in our backyard, so we had to wade through it to get to the branches and stuff. lol.

Sincerely,

AETHOMAS

Hurricane Katrina. It was the strongest hurricane I've tracked on Weather Channel in my young life. But if I were to remember tracking the storm on computer and not just Weather Channel, it's easily Sandy.

The Long Island Express 1938. Because I can imagine the results if it hit now. Not a lot of Cat 3's hit New York State.

Typhoon Tip 1979, simply because it is the biggest and baddest on record.

Hi WunderGirl12,

I wouldn't worry too much over the people that complain about this thread on Dr. Masters blog. Some of them should take a deep breath and get over themselves. Hope you get a good grade on the assignment.

Hurricane Frederic

I was very young, and I went to Mobile to help my grandparents and family.

Anytime I hear the word "Hurricane" I think of that storm first.

Hurricane Camille in 1969. I turned 1 year old on the second day of the hurricane, so obviously I don't remember it but it jumped out at me first.

edit: Maybe blame Forrest Gump :)

Hurricane Bob -- 1991

I lived on Cape Cod at that time, and it was quite a storm. We were in a central area and didn't have power for five days, others didn't have it for longer.

When the power truck showed up on my street, they were greeted by cheers.

Hurricane Donna- This one always pops into my mind because I came through the Keys as a child right after the storm. My family was relocating from Va. Beach to Key West in 1960. My mother had remembered that we had to cross a pontoon bridge that the ACOE had laid to replace the bridge that was wiped out. I remember driving through Marathon and thinking everything was upside down. The boats were on land and the mobile homes were in the water. My Dad had to show his orders on every bridge. Also, I remember the 7 mile bridge had a hole in it and the people laid down planks for my father to drive the car over. Boy was I scared. When we arrived in Key West, it did not look like anything had happened. But there was no water since the pipeline that runs from Florida city to Key West was attached to the bridges, and was broken when the bridges went out. I was 8 at the time.
