I have at least 4 bluebird babies! I did not check closely except with photo and think looks like one egg still in there. However with so many babies it was hard to tell. On DAY 13! How about that! Very advanced babies they are. Oh, and for those of you that don't already know - baby bluebirds! YEAH! I am a BLUEBIRD GRANNY!

Yesterday, the eggs were very shiny as they said they would be.

Day 12 the eggs were very shiny and looking ready to hatch. I had suspected the parents perhaps were hearing noises from the eggs. They hatched sometime between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday afternoon DAY 13. I know there was activity at the nest this am even. I make myself wait until the warmth of afternoon before checking the box.

More to come - but just have to post this immediately - YES, I am excited!

Coming: Herbs, and more - Granny's brain is not getting too far past these little bluebird babies at present.

Despite all of my bluebirds and all, I still love my red cardinals!

I have found a new robin's nest that has four eggs - will try to get a photo in a bit.

One more egg to hatch - Hopefully today! Sometimes some of the eggs do not hatch. Last year, only one out of three hatched so only one baby! That is why I am so excited to have four hatched on the first day of hatching.

One More Egg to Hatch

I got my Berkey water purifier going last night but had a leak around the little spigot. So this morning took it down and took the spigot off and reversed the outside washer. I was unsure last night which way to turn it. Tightened it good and tight. I have refilled it with water and think that has taken care of the leaking spigot. So the water should be ready to drink, now. It was really easy once I got started. All that studying and worrying for nothing1 Isn't that always the case.

Your pics are beautiful & your grandbirdies are amazing:) Best of luck to this precarious moment in their life..

Shadowcat is on to the nest in the potting shed. I've had to put up garden fencing at the bottom of the door & keep the door closed. CarolinaWren can come & go through the eve of the roof. Pretty sure she's my bird friend I've helped raise babes with the last few years. She built her nest in a box of yard bags sitting on a shelf about 1 1/2ft from where I work in there. She's not scared of me at all.

Thanks, YOR! The webcam is not mine and the eggs on the webcam still have not hatched. Looks like 4 beautiful eggs still there. Wish I could embed it here but seems it never works for me any more.

My bluebird eggs hatched yesterday and am hoping the 5th one hatches by today when I check the nest. I usually wait until after two to check on them during the warmth of the day.

Hope you are having a wonderful day

Yeap I realized that when i clicked the webcam before i cam in here. the eggs were still there and i expected little darlings. I had a busy day but finished all the task and no backlogs. ^_^ i had my hair cut after office. The beautician took long to rinse the treatment and i was Z Z Z z Z once in a while. took almost 2 hours LOL. I feel great. Hope you have a nice day. does the tiny birds starts to have their tiny feather soon?

Okay, I did it! I have put my Berkey water Purifier together, Primed the purification elements, Installed the elements, filled the upper chamber with water and closed the lid. It is working. I am to dispose of the first batch of water Then refill and it should be ready for use. Oh and there is a Testing the Elements test to run. So, I am almost in business! Hey, I finally did it! Just seems like every day since it arrived I have had so many other things going on. Tonight, I had time to just devote to getting the job done with no other interruptions. Sigh! Thinking about those sweet little babies out there in my bluebird box. I hope Mom or Dad are in there with them. I worry about them.

Back to Putting This Contraption Together

Okay, it is Wednesday and I am still procrastinating about putting this thing together. So still, contraption not put together. It is still sitting there.Tonight I assemble the lid by putting the knob on - no tools were needed just hand tightened. Next I put the spigot to lower chamber assembly. I have not checked it for leakage or to see if it works. I am still sitting here comtemplating the BIGGIE - Priming the Black Berkey Purification Elements. Says follow printed instructions provided within the element box. Then the upper chamber assembly. I surely had not thought about any assembly of this thing. Still wish I had thought to take it with me to my son's as he would have gotten it done in a flash. However, I am a self-do-it type going to figure it out myself mindset and I will. I just think over each step way too much.

Priming the Purification elements is the part I am worrying about. It is like I have to 1) press rubber priming button onto the stem of the black berkey purification element with the small end facing the element. Now, I really understand what I just said - NOT! 2) Place the stem of the Black Berkey element between fingers and press large end of priming button against faucet. And NOT getting all of that either. 30 While holding priming button against faucent, turn on the cold water gently, allowing water to fill the cavity of the BlackBerkey element. 4) Allow the exterior wall of the Black Berkey purification element to sweat beads of water for 5 seconds. 5) Rinse process dust from exterior of purification element. The element has now been successfully primed. Repeat all steps with the other element. Can you see why I keep putting all of this off? Wish me luck if I get up enough nerve to try priming tonight.

Speaking of redbirds, one year, I spotted the cardinal's nest across and down the street a house or two. Problem was it was too high up for me to really see. Picture this now: Me, Determined, taking a ladder across the street and climbing up on ladder and holding the camera up as high as I could to get a photo. It is posted on WU but at present, SEARCH is not working for me. I click on search button but nothing powers it and no search. When search is working again, I will share. I have a brown thrasher, too, that comes back every year. I suspect its nest is low to the ground but have never spotted it.

Hi Whitewabbit! I know the feeling. It has been killing me that I don't have a clue where the pileated woodpeckers are nesting this year. I have a general idea but is too deep in the woods, plus to get near it I would have to go in someone's backyard that I really do not know. I hear them but no luck in spotting them Last year, I was lucky enough to spot the nest plus it was at the edge of the woods where on full zoom I could get a good shot of them with a 40x Canon. I bought the 50x after they were gone but was counting on this year. No luck. Yes, I have a hummer too and I look up in the trees thinking where can it be! Even the robins seem to have hidden their nest. I did get one shot of a robin's nest but never posted it. I should pull that out even though WU will archive it when I post it. Thanks for dropping by and sharing your baby bird stories.

my thrush was back this year and should be starting her second brood pretty soon .. she nests in the same spot every year and will allow me to get very near.. but its so well hidden a picture wouldn't show her on the nest .. its her 5th year and think I have an off spring nesting in the back while she is in the front .. can't find the red birds this year either .. seems they have hidden their nests well this year ..
