As some of you may or may not know, my other half and I are commercial fishermen. I know I joke about it on the blog but it really is our livelihood. I've received a couple of emails expressing interest in our lives, so here I am. This blog will be about us out on the water, the ups and downs, the humour and sometimes the harder side of life.

This will be a work in progress so have patience. I'll get there!

Okay. Now that my FIRST successful picture (although it's not a fishing pic but a test) has worked, I will get on with my blog!

Hello VirginIslandsVisitor, I'm Dave from San Jose, CA. A very interesting picture you have on your blog. The weather here in San Jose has been dry since April.

Good afternoon Lindy.
Thanks for dropping by the Northern Edge.
I'm in Portage la Prairie Manitoba and about 800 miles away from the areas flooding in Alberta.
We're getting rain here but it's nothing compared to what is falling in Alberta.
The weather system will affect the Assiniboine River watershed. The river passes about 5 miles south on my location but flood waters are diverted to Lake Manitoba by the Portage Diversion which I worked on while it was being built.
I wish Had a better spot to place my webcam, the view isn't that interesting with the car blocking it most of the time.
Good luck with the fishing.
Lake Winnipeg as well as Lake Manitoba both have a commercial fishing industry.
Enjoy the day.
