Living in Northern Michigan

A Roller Coaster of weather and here I am neglecting my blog. While Dec. seemed to pass with nary a flake, Janus came by to run the gauntlet. From warm and sunny turned freezing rain. Snow and blowing snow only to melt the next day but here we are at the end of the month and it looks and feels like Winter is really here to stay.

... Quick hitting snow across northern Michigan today...

A warm front will lift north across northern Michigan
today... bringing a period of steady snow to all areas. The snow
will develop from west to east... reaching the Lake Huron
shoreline by midday. Snowfall rates of 1/4 to 1/2 inch per hour
will be possible... with total accumulations of 1 to 2 inches
expected in most areas through late afternoon. This will result in
many roads become snow covered. Visibilities may also be reduced
to less than 2 miles at times.

This will be a quick hitting snow event... with the snow tapering
off by late afternoon. The snow may end as some patchy freezing
drizzle or light sleet. The light freezing drizzle may continue
across the higher terrain of northern lower Michigan and portions
of eastern Upper Michigan tonight.Link

At Midnight the clouds were thick but temps were mild. Fireworks and firecrackers echoed off the sky. The snow started around 9:30 a.m. Big, wet flakes. By noon the wind picked up and the temperature started its decline. Roads slushy.
