I have lived in the Seattle-area all my life and I have heard many jokes about Seattle's rain. The best way to describe the weather in the Seattle area is "rain and drain" -- we have either a rain day or a drain day. But how much does it really rain in Seattle? And was 2005 worse than the average? You be the judge. The average amount of rain in Seattle for January through December is 37.07 inches. In 2005, we had 35.63 inches!

Yesterday (September 21, 2006), the Seattle/Tukwila weather was cloudy with showers; .17 inch.
The high was 60 and the low was 47.

One year ago, on September 21, 2005, it was partly to mostly sunny with afternoon clouds.
The high was 66 and the low was 48.

Total rain for August 2006: .02 inches.
Total rain for August 2005: .29 inches.
A normal August gets 1.02 inches of rain.

Total rain January-August 2006: 22.51 inches.
Total rain January-August 2005: 19.30 inches.
January through August normally gets 20.73 inches of rain.
