Marine Condition Forecasting in Southeast Florida

In addition to my business life being highly reliant on weather conditions, so is my recreational life. I am an avid fisherman living near Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Whether it is drift fishing, reef fishing or trolling, I am out on the water at least twice per week. As I plan my trips, I always check the marine forecast throughout the week. Although I love going fishing, I do not like braving rough seas.
One thing I have noticed is consistent inaccuracies when it comes to the reporting of wave heights during a west wind.
Although a west wind affects waves in the gulf stream, seas tend to be pretty flat along the reefs along Florida's southeast coast. For some reason, wunderground does not take that into consideration when forecasting marine conditions.

If you enjoy fishing in S. Florida, don't let inaccurate reports scare you off.

help me out here trust....you put down wunderground...albeit due to not understanding where their information comes in...i can understand it and see that pat and wabbit have already come to your aid on the sunject....but here's what i don't understand...your link...."ft lauderdale, fl" has nothing to do with your post or ft luaderdale...it's your personal website for public adjusters....you've done the same in at least one instance of responding to other blogs.....might you also look into the spamming policies here?

Hello Ric-

I am not putting wunderground down. I am just commenting on the inaccuracies in marine forecasting as it pertains to inshore wave heights during a west wind.

NWS in MIA has a Marin Discussion and if you can't find it on their site then call 305-229-4522

Do you think inaccuracies in wave height forecast maybe just the placement of the buoys that the readings are taken from .. real time conditions could be quite different then forecast according to the area you are boating/fishing in ..

Although I am not positive, I do not think so. The inaccuracies occur in the forecasts.
