Test your skills about names after 1950

By: Tropicsweatherpr, 3:16 PM GMT on June 21, 2011

This is a neat contest, where you can name the systems that have formed since 1950. You have to do it in 20 minutes. I did 77 of 261 names.

It will be interesting to see how the 2011 Atlantic Hurricane season pans out against the average and against other memorable and very active seasons like 1933,2005 and 2010. At link below, you can follow in a day to day way how this season is doing vs the others. If anyone wants to make comments about this good topic,go ahead.

Tropical Developmemt or not in Atlantic Basin during the rest of June?

By: Tropicsweatherpr, 7:12 PM GMT on June 15, 2011

Let's have a poll about this question. If you want to add a comment,go ahead.

A-There will be tropical development.
B-There will not be tropical development.

I say B,although something may try to get going in the BOC,it wont reach TD status.

Worse case scenario are close to land developments

By: Tropicsweatherpr, 7:03 PM GMT on June 11, 2011

This is a good topic for all to debate or comnment on.

There are many examples of Cyclones developing close to land. The most recent ones that I remember are Hurricane Opal in 1995,Hurricane Alex in 2003 and Hurricane Humberto in 2008. If anyone has more examples of this type, post them. Those close to land developments are the most dangerous because they leave little time to prepare.
