Interior Alaska

Doesn't matter how cold it is right now, the fact remains that we are increasingly gaining daylight hours with 6+ minutes being added just today.

It's difficult to get into planting mode when one can't even get their car started in the -50 weather. However, Alaskans are optimists and winter is a state of mind around here. A necessary prelude to the wonderful 24-hour sunlit days of summer.

I have been keeping track of the climate changes around here. Last year we were able to plant the potatoes a week earlier than normal, and harvest went on until the end of September. We are usually forced to finish way before then due to freezing.
