Cold Weather is vastly approaching SNE

A perhaps strong Quebec, Canada low will be position over the Canadian province sometime in the 9-10 day timeframe releasing a ton of Canadian polar to arctic type of air mass over the region on northwesterly winds, perhaps some more northerly component could lead to ocean effect showers as -10C 850mb air temps approach the region according to the 12z EURO. However a lot to iron out as the GFS is not as cold and is further northwest with the low track, but if a low track like the EURO points out we could be in it for cold weather. However teleconnections are currently a -PNA and +NAO which do not support a cold weather outbreak by any stretch, but it could be a short lived punch in the throat for those of us still lamenting the loss of summer weather. However with the ocean temps still in the upper 50s and lower 60s to our south, southwesterly winds ahead of the polar fronts could allow a brief respite ahead of the cold air. So there is that for hopes and faith.

Now that you mention it, I remember that you are located on the Cape. Saw your post on Blizz's blog about next weekends cold blast--and windy too?

I'm on Cape Cod, MA, nearer Boston than western MA. Right on the coast, about 5 mi inland on the Cape. Friday looks to have explosive results if GFS trends towards where I think its trending. Friday could be a lot windier than currently thought to be.
