Cape and Islands Weather:

A few inches of snow are possible for the Outer Cape and Nantucket area tomorrow night into Wednesday. Future model updates could either put more or less snow on the table for us as a northwest trend continues in overall guidance. Need to watch the overnight guidance tonight and tomorrow for further trends.

Snowstorm from Mid Atlantic to Cape Cod, MA

By: TheDawnAwakening, 11:29 PM GMT on January 19, 2014

Another cold snowstorm is anticipated for Southern New England including Cape Cod and Plymouth, MA. Ocean Effect snows will likely develop later on Tuesday morning and continue through the synoptic scale snows on Wednesday and end Wednesday night. Right now mid levels don't close off in time to slow the departure of the storm down so chances are this is a quick hitting 3-6" snowstorm for Plymouth and Barnstable counties.

Ocean Effect Snows on west to southwest wind possibly for CHH and ACK

By: TheDawnAwakening, 4:55 PM GMT on January 05, 2014

Ocean Effect Snows could potentially impact Chatham, MA (CHH) and Nantucket, MA (ACK) by Tuesday afternoon with a few inches possibly. GFS likes potential for at least an inch in CHH and ACK by Tuesday afternoon and NAM likes a dusting at least. 850mb temps drop to around -20C Tuesday allowing delta Ts to develop of at least 25C leading to potential for a high CAPE and high inversion event. Depending upon which model is right with regards to wind flow at the surface to 850mb will determine greatly how much snows Cape Cod, MA especially the Outer Cape and Nantucket, MA. Still 48 hours before we get a clearer picture on potential outbreak of OES.
