Ice Storm!

By: Susie77, 4:25 PM GMT on January 12, 2007

Gack, looks like we're in for a dicey weekend up here NW of STL. I'm just hopin' that the power stays on.... esp. with the bitter cold that is supposed to follow the storm.

If you have clear skies tonight, look to the western sky right after sunset, and you will see a most beautiful sight -- a comet that rivals Hale-Bopp!

Winter Gardens

By: Susie77, 12:57 AM GMT on January 07, 2007

So bleak and brown out there now .... but nearly every day the letter carrier brings another gardening catalog. What joy to sit in front of a cozy fire, afghan on the knees, cockatoo on the couch next to me, browsing through the beautiful photos of bright flowers and lucious veggies. Oh, to dream of hands in warm soil, taste of fresh tomato on tongue, the warm scent of dill that greets me when I come home! (Yeah, the gardens are by the driveway.)

Summer dreams!
