Folks look at this Winter patter that is setting up on the models. Very strong ridge across the Pacific NW with a very active south jet plowing into California. With this set up California can expect huge amounts of rain this Winter. So with this California will likely experience devastating mud slides from excessive rains. Also severe weather will be likely across FL this Winter so if you do not have a NOAA radio I would suggest you get one as these severe weather events that occur across FL during El-Nino seem to happen at night.

FOR THE REST OF TODAY WE WILL CONTINUE TO SEE SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS
SHOWERS AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOP IN THE DEEPER MOISTURE AND
MOVE EAST NORTHEAST AFFECTING MOST AREAS THROUGHOUT CENTRAL FLORIDA.
THE LATEST HRRR COMPOSITE RADAR FORECAST HAS THE LARGEST MASS OF
PRECIPITATION MOVING INLAND JUST SOUTH OF TAMPA BAY AROUND 17-18Z.
THIS CONVECTION SHOULD SHIFT EASTWARD DURING THE AFTERNOON AS THE
LOW LEVEL SOUTH SOUTHWEST FLOW PUSHES THEM INLAND. GRIDS LOOK ON
TRACK FOR NOW.

this is happening more and more lately...perhaps on the entrance ramps..if your going in the wrong way..they should have red flashing lights?.............any better idea's?........................................... ...............................DADE CITY --
A 25-year-old woman was killed early Monday after driving the wrong way on Interstate 75 in Pasco County and hitting a semi-truck, authorities said.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was driving northbound in the southbound lanes at 4:35 a.m. when her 2012 Nissan sedan hit a southbound tractor-trailer hauling food and beverage products near St. Joe Road, which is about four miles north of State Road 52 in San Antonio.

Officials said the vehicle slammed into the semi and then a concrete barrier. The semi rolled over in the crash.

Troopers said the driver of the semi, Slawomir Plonski, 42, of Port St. Lucie, tried to avoid a collision by moving to the outside lane. He was unsuccessful, and the Nissan collided with the left side of the semi. Plonski was not injured.

The semi came to a stop on the highway while the Nissan traveled to the median and onto the concrete barrier wall.

The woman, who has not been identified, was airlifted to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, where she later died.

The southbound lanes of I-75 were closed at mile marker 290, and traffic was diverted onto Blanton Road. One of the southbound I-75 lanes was reopened just before 7:30 a.m.

The crash marks the fifth serious wrong-way crash in a Bay area interstate highway this year, with 11 people being killed.

ST. PETERSBURG --
After a bit of sunshine today, the coming week could bring a lot of rain.

The Bay News 9 weather team is calling for a 30 percent chance of showers and storms today, and most of those will be driven by the sea breeze this afternoon and evening, meteorologist Josh Linker said.

But the rain chance goes up to 70 percent Monday and 80 percent Tuesday before settling in at 50 percent for the rest of the work week.

The culprit, says Linker, is a frontal boundary that's still sitting over the middle of Florida.

"This front is going to remain in place," Linker said. "Another cold front is going to come in from the northwest, and we're going to have a lot of moisture streaming in from the west and a dip in the jet stream. All that together, along with another disturbance developing across that front, will lead to higher rain chances tomorrow and on Tuesday."

Cloud cover starting late today will keep the daytime temperatures below normal. The projected highs for Tuesday and Wednesday are 85 and 83 degrees, respectively.

Wow, 69 degrees this morning. I actually opened the windows last night and ended up looking for an extra blanket by the middle of the night! Okay, it wasn't that cold, but still....

The surf was pounding in Ponce Inlet. No chance of fishing because of the strong south current. You'd have to throw your bait out there and jog along the beach to keep up with it. If there were mullet they were staying outside the breakers rather than getting their heads beaten by the waves.

We might try fishing Ormond by the Sea later in the day if the swell subsides. Otherwise, a perfect day for a bike ride.

Have a great day, everyone.

As much as I dearly love the rain, can I say that it saddens me that this is just another week without my loved summer thunderstorm pattern? There are precious few days left for my summer storms to form.It will be a minimum of 8 months until they return. And I did not get a good "FIX" this summer.

77 degrees here in Ormond. I don't think my air conditioning came on at all yesterday. I'm looking forward to the evenings where we can open up the windows after sunset and let the breeze filter through.

Of course, we have Biketoberfest coming up in a few weeks, which will mean shutting the windows to keep the roar to a minimum. Not as bad as the 10 days of Bike Week, but bad enough. I used to live next door to a guy whose friends all showed up at his place for Bike Week and they wouldn't start their evening fun until about 11:00, which meant they'd have to warm up their bikes for an hour or so beginning about 10:00. I really felt like stuffing a potato in his tail pipe. (We used to do that as kids. It's hilarious, if you have an evil streak. Good luck getting your car started with the tail pipe plugged with a potato!) (I know, I will go to hell for that... but it was worth it!)

U.S. TUESDAY WITH INCREASING EASTERLY FLOW ACROSS THE FLORIDA
PENINSULA. NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP TUESDAY
AFTERNOON WITH HIGHEST POPS NEAR THE COAST AS EASTERLY FLOW ENHANCES
LOW LEVEL CONVERGENCE OVER THE COASTAL COUNTIES. AN U/L RIDGE WILL
BUILD OVER THE REGION WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY WHICH WILL DECREASE
AREAL COVERAGE OF CONVECTION A BIT...BUT SUFFICIENT DEEP LAYER
MOISTURE AND INSTABILITY WILL PERSIST FOR SCATTERED AFTERNOON
THUNDERSTORMS TO DEVELOP ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA EACH DAY.
