Summary of weather for the months of June, July and August of 2012 at KKSKANSA15 (Kansas City, KS, located 3 W of KMKC, or 3 W of downtown Kansas City, MO):
Three month precipitation: 6.84 inches.
June Precipitation: 2.28 inches
July Precipitation: 0.73 inches
Aug Precipitation: 3.83 inches
3-month total pcpn: 6.84 inches
Note: Significantly skewing August and the summer total precipitation was the 2.85 inches that fell on August 31st from the remnants of Hurricane Isaac. Without this unexpected precipitation windfall, the total for the three summer months would have been a mere 3.99 inches.
Summer Total Precipitation
The below map is skewed a bit because I waited until September 8 to obtain it, so it goes from June 8 to September 8. There was no significant rainfall in the first 7 days of June, but 1.98 inches fell on September 1st from Isaac and another half inch since. While it still approximates what fell over the summer, this map also includes the almost 2.5 inches that fell during the first week of September at this location.

The first 90-degree or warmer day occurred on June 4 and the most recent on September 6. This is a 95-day span during which some days (actually, most days) hit 90 or better.
The first 100-degree or warmer day occurred on June 24 and the most recent on August 30 (the day before Isaac moved in) which reached an even 100 degrees. This is a 68-day span during which some days (26, to be exact) reached or exceeded 100 degrees.
September has already had 5 days in excess of 90 to add to the 3-month total of 63 such days. Therefore, the summer season has now had a total of 68 days reaching 90 degrees or warmer. So far in September there have been no days reaching 100 or greater, the warmest being 97 on September 4.
Perhaps we have seen our last 90 degree day of the season, but more likely, we have not. September can still be quite warm in these parts.
