Tampa boys are having fun this morning......

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAMPA BAY RUSKIN FL
300 AM EST WED DEC 27 2006

IN SHORT...AFTER A SLOW STROLL THROUGH NEW MEXICO AND TEXAS (DON`T
TELL DENVER!)...THE SYSTEM SHOULD ONCE AGAIN DEFLECT NORTHEAST INTO
THE MID MISSISSIPPI VALLEY BY NEW YEAR`S EVE AS THE
CARIBBEAN/BAHAMAS RIDGE WHICH HAS THUS FAR PUMPED MEAN TEMPERATURES
(AS OF CHRISTMAS DAY) 6.6 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL AT TAMPA (2ND ALL
TIME AVERAGE) REMAINS THE IMMOVABLE OBJECT. THUS...THE POSSIBLE
BROKEN LINE OF SHOWERS/THUNDERSTORMS IS MOST LIKELY LATE SATURDAY
NIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING WHICH IS FAIRLY CLOSE TO WHAT WE`VE BEEN
FORECASTING FOR THE PAST FEW DAYS. WHICH MEANS THE FIRST HALF OF
THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND...AT LEAST...WILL BE RAIN-FREE AND WARM.

BY NEW YEAR`S EVE AND BEYOND...THE OUTLOOK MIGHT NOT BE SO ROSY. THE
CANADIAN...ECMWF...AND GFS ALL HINT AT A CONTINUING SOUTHWEST FLOW
AND WAVES OF ENERGY RIDING THROUGH IT...LEAVING PLENTY OF DEEP LAYER
SUBTROPICAL MOISTURE TO MOVE ACROSS A DISSIPATING FRONTAL BOUNDARY
SOMEWHERE ACROSS THE PENINSULA. THUS...WILL BE A BIT MORE
PESSIMISTIC REGARDING SUNSHINE BY DAYS 6/7.

FOR THE SENSIBLE WEATHER...SATURDAY SHOULD BE LARGELY DRY THOUGH
CAN`T RULE OUT A PASSING LIGHT SHOWER AS LOW LEVEL MOISTURE
INCREASES ON SOUTHEAST FLOW. NO CHANGES TO TEMPERATURE
FORECAST...BALMY 80+ IN MOST AREAS LOOKS ON TRACK. FOR SATURDAY
NIGHT AND SUNDAY...HAVE EDGED THUNDERSTORM CHANCES BACK INTO SUNDAY
MORNING AS A PEAK...AND THIS MAY HAVE TO BE ADJUSTED A BIT FARTHER
INTO THE DAY. LINGERING SHOWERS AND PLENTY OF CLOUDS WILL CONTINUE
NEW YEARS EVE INTO NEW YEARS DAY...WITH THE EXCEPTION BEING THE
NATURE COAST WHERE SOME CLEARING OF THE LOW LEVEL MOISTURE IS
POSSIBLE. GIVEN THE INCREASED MOISTURE...WE`VE PUSHED UP
TEMPERATURES A FEW DEGREES PARTICULARLY AT NIGHT.
IN SHORT...THERE`S NO SENSE IN FIGHTING THE SUBTROPICAL RIDGE TO OUR
EAST AND SOUTH UNTIL WE SEE A VIGOROUS SYSTEM TRULY ALTER THE
PATTERN. THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS...AS THE PAST MONTH BEFORE...WILL
AVERAGE ABOVE NORMAL.

Hey OGal~ It was a fun one, hope yours was too.

I've only looked at it briefly (Christmas fun galore), something to keep an eye on. Judging by yesterday we may have tripped into the dreaded El Nio stormy time. Did check out ENSO I'll update the blog with that, then off to tackle some mess.

Mornin Skye, sounds like there is a real mess over on your coast. Embry Riddle really had extensive damage. The planes alone are worth millions. Ok, the big question! Just picking up bits and pieces that we may have a repeat of this entire situation this weekend. What are your thoughts??

Good luck cleaning up your mess. I think that means you really had a happy Christmas.

Yep the line is indeed amplifying near the coast as I said it would in my latest update about an hour ago. It's hitting extra heating and lifting. Treasure coast and areas east of Lake Ok. need to be very careful, this will be the late afternoon bullseye. Brevard and Indian River could get ripped soon.

My God, it's disastrous out there in central and eastern Volusia. Just seen some pictures of the damage and it's just unbelievable. Even here there are trees down and power outages, but near Deland and De Leon Springs there are entire communities that have been demolished. There have been at least 2-3 tornadoes so far and I think they were all F1 or greater.

Twas a Florida Christmas

T'was the night before Christmas and all through the town,
no noses were frozen, no snow fluttered down,
no children in flannels were tucked into bed,
they all wore shorty pajamas instead.

To find wreaths of holly, t'was not very hard,
for holly trees grew in every back yard.
In front of the houses, Dads and Moms were
adorning the bushes and coconut palms.

The sleeping kiddies were dreaming in glee,
hoping to find water skis under the tree.
They all knew that Santa was well on his way,
in a Mercedes-Benz, instead of a sleigh.

And soon he arrived and started to work,
he hadn't a second to linger or shirk.
He whizzed up the highways and zoomed up the road,
in a S-L 300, delivering his loads.

The tropical moon gave the city a glow,
and lighted the way for old Santa below.
As he jumped from the auto he gave a wee chuckle,
he was dressed in Bermudas with an Ivy league buckle,

There weren't any chimneys, but that caused no gloom,
for Santa came in through the Florida room.
He stopped at each house....stayed only a minute,
emptying his sack of stuff that was in it.

Before he departed, he treated himself
to a glass of papaya juice upon the shelf.
He turned with a jerk and bounced to the car,
remembering he still had to go very far.

He shifted the gears and stepped on the gas
and up Highway 436 he went like a flash.
And I heard him exclaim as he went on his way,
"MERRY CHRISTMAS Y'ALL, I WISH I COULD STAY

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MELBOURNE FL
915 AM EST SUN DEC 24 2006

.DISCUSSION...

...CHRISTMAS DAY LOOKING STORMY WITH WIND AND HEAVY RAINFALL...SOME
STORMS POSSIBLY SEVERE...

...MUCH COOLER AND DRIER TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY...

CURRENT/TODAY...STALLED FRONTAL BOUNDARY ACROSS CENTRAL FL EXPECTED
TO SLOWLY LIFT NORTHWARD TODAY/TONIGHT ACROSS THE PENINSULA AS A
WARM FRONT. ECFL WILL BE IN THE WARM SECTOR WITH WARM AND VERY MOIST
AIR. BEST LLVL CONVERGENCE TODAY WILL BE INVOF THIS BOUNDARY...THUS
HIGHEST POPS ACROSS OUR NORTHERN CWA. OTHER SOURCES OF LIFT REMAIN
RATHER WEAK ACROSS THE AREA AND WILL LEAVE CURRENT GRIDS ALONE WITH
SCT SHRA`S AND PERHAPS A RUMBLE OF THUNDER LATER IN THE DAY. AREAS
ACROSS OKEECHOBEE...SAINT LUCIE AND MARTIN COUNTIES HAVE BEEN
PLAGUED BY EARLY MORNING FOG AS A SECONDARY BOUNDARY THAT MOVED
THROUGH THE AREA YESTERDAY REMAINS STATIONARY THERE AND HAS TRAPPED
HIGHER MOISTURE VALUES NEAR THE SURFACE. EXPECT VISIBILITIES ACROSS
OUR SOUTH TO BEGIN TO IMPROVE THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE MORNING.
THERE WILL BE A MAINLY EASTERLY COMPONENT OF LIGHT WINDS TODAY.
THERE MAY BE SOME BREAKS IN THE CLOUDS OFF/ON THROUGH THE
DAY...MAINLY ACROSS THE SOUTH...BUT DO EXPECT CONSIDERABLE
CLOUDINESS/MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES TO BE THE RULE. TEMPERATURES TO
REMAIN ABOVE SEASONAL WITH HIGHS RANGING FROM THE MIDDLE 70S FAR
NORTH TO LOWER 80S FAR SOUTH. ONLY EXPECT COSMETIC CHANGES TO THE
GRIDS AND NOT LEANING TOWARDS A MORNING ZONES UPDATE AT THIS TIME.
WILL GET INTO MORE DETAIL REGARDING THE CHRISTMAS DAY WEATHER
THREATS IN THE AFTN AFD.
