When to plant what & how in Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama.

August gardeners in Florida are busy readying beds, gathering seeds & planting. Harvest from late spring & early summer's garden continues. Below is what each part of Florida should plant from seed this month.

North FL any beans, Broccoli, cauliflower, collards, corn cucumbers, onions, southern peas (cow, black eyed), peppers any squash, Tomato, turnips & watermelon.

Central FL pole beans, broccoli, celery, collards, corn, eggplant, okra, onions, peppers, pumpkins, any squash, watermelon.

Helene remains are coming off MX back into the Gulf as expected. That is now 95L. I'm a little concerned this could spin up & become a Phish storm..following the Phish tour through the Southeast next weekend. Probability will go through NFL at some point. Models have historically done horrible with this blob of energy.

98W is new, 96W is TEMBIN. TEMBIN is pulling together some wrath..

Just took a steak out of the freezer an hour ago. Came here and the radar up top caught my eye. (Haven't even paid attention to the radar today)

Might be barbecuing in the rain this evening!

I'm willing though, if it cools things down a bit!

94L is new. It's that wave that just come off Africa. It's already killed quite a few in Nigeria.

My first thoughts is that it will be a hurricane before 40. Not alot of confidence in that thought since it's not a closed low yet..

07L looking gamely.. I got to give it an outside chance at getting loose in the GOM at some point. Might even hit MX first.

07L reprise by the NAVY.

93L is now 08L. Pretty much expecting this to become a hurricane.

Kia-tak has really leaned pretty hard to the left of what is forecast.

Hector/Ernesto may cause a spawn to spin up between MX & Baja over the next 3-5 days.

Rode Skye the actual pony a few miles. Finally wasn't raining in the evening . Treated to a pink purple sunset that turned to a lightning show as it darkened. Had a quick downpour later into the night.

Morning Hades:), morning all. 07L is gone. Moisture is moving into Central America. As expected was like a weaker Ernesto. Expecting 93L to put on a show the next few days. Shouldn't become anything severe, may threaten the Azores in four days or so.

Globally we are on a down turn. Our 8-9 invests has concentrated to two storms & 1 intensifying invest. Could be a few days before we see several new areas of interest.

Good day to plant something.

This blob still on Africa has already killed 28 in Nigeria with scores more missing. Flooding was extreme & it was described as ice blocks falling from the sky.

CALGARY — A ferocious storm that hammered parts of Calgary with hail stones larger than golf balls late Sunday, causing millions of dollars worth of damage, could have been much worse if cloud-seeding planes hadn’t attempted to calm it down.

“The storm was a monster,” said Terry Krauss, project director of the Alberta Severe Weather Management Society, which contracts American-based company Weather Modification Inc. to seed severe weather clouds in Alberta’s skies. The society is funded by a group of insurance companies with a goal of reducing hail damage claims.

Before the storm hit, Krauss said, the company sent all four of its cloud-seeding aircraft into the thick and swirling black clouds. The planes flew for more than 12 hours, shooting silver iodide, a chemical agent that helps limit the size of hail stones, at the top and base of the clouds, until midnight.

But despite the heavy seeding, golf-ball-sized hail stones pelted parts of Calgary late Sunday night, causing widespread damage to cars and homes.

“This one was a beast. It took everything we threw at it and still was able to wreak some havoc,” said Krauss. “I believe if we hadn’t seeded, it would have even been worse.” more here.

I think I need the update on the Best Days Calander?
Im not sure if I should brew more beer today or have a party?
It's been wet down here in SWF . Things are kind of moldy. We need a tropic system a few hundred miles away to dry things out. I won't wish it on Lake City. Maybe if it just hung out in the gulf for a while and pettered out to nothing.
Peace

TRMM of 07L hitting the islands lastnight. Missed the most severe part. Click pic for quicktime. Neat is on the A side the clouds near SA are so mush higher than the tropical clouds associated with 07L.
