The Fat Lady is Warming Up

Oh it's great to be back! A little vacation, a little extra work and a very busy schedule kept me away but now I can focus on the end of this election cycle.

I see our resident right wing nutjob has left the building. Funny, but it seems the announcement came after some very good posts detailing how full of crap his article were or maybe it was embarrassment that another of his cited sources that he used to convince himself that climate change was hocus pocus declared that they were wrong and climate change is indeed a scientific fact. Of course the fact that Obama is indeed a US citizen and quite likely to continue as President made it easier to run and hide. Not to mention that the tea party is collapsing and being ridiculed daily. The rat is leaving the sinking ship and I say good riddance to bad trash.

There was quite an article detailing how and why the moderates may once again take over the GOP after Romney loses this election and I and many others are ecstatic over the possibility. Wouldn't it be nice to have a GOP that stands for fiscal responsibility and is also morally responsible?

So yes, it's very evident the fat lady is warming up and if it does spell the collapse of the old school far right, then let me tell you, I am so ready to enjoy every note of her song!

Thank you LT

I'm a fair observer and a learned writer by well, having to give up construction post Katrina, while 27 mths in a FEMA Trailer here in NOLA due to a health issue, now resolved.

Now 4 years removed from that experience, I've come to be believe I'm a realist.

Independents will deliver this election I believe...,
..one way or the other.

Yeah, a Mitt in the White House would make us a Laughing stock of the Globe and turn back all the progress since January 2009.

What what was the Dow then and the Unemployment rate?

Pfffth.

Mitt want's to ax medicaid.

Mitt wants Lower wages for women.

Mitt was willing to let GM go Bankrupt.

Mitt would have 40 Million continue to seek Medical Help in Emg Rooms.

5 son's and not ONE has served America.

Mitt went on Mormon mission in France to avoid Vietnam.

Mitt never talks about his religion or Family background because they fled to Mexico to continue Polygamy.

Tax Cuts never served anyone but the wealthy.

George Bush's 2 terms proved that working model failed miserably.

I'll stick with what has worked.

All most all major national polls show Mitt Romney surging. This all because of the President's terrible showing in last week"s debate.Dems. are on damage control. If the president hope to stem the tide, he must win and win big in Oct. 16's debate, or the "Fat Lady" will be singing for the "Wrong" guy, at least for most on this blog. This has been quite possible the largest one week swing in voter sentiment in recent polling history.

Man dies after winning live roach-eating contest in Florida

By The Associated Press
on October 08, 2012 at 5:14 PM

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. -- Authorities say the winner of a roach-eating contest in South Florida died shortly after downing dozens of the live bugs as well as worms. The grand prize in Friday night's contest was a live python.

The Broward County sheriff's office says in a news release that it is waiting for an autopsy to give the official cause of death.

However, the news release Monday says 32-year-old Edward Archbold became ill soon after winning and collapsed in front of the Ben Siegel Reptile Store where the contest was held. The store is in Deerfield Beach about 40 miles north of Miami. Archbold was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say several contestants ate insects but no one else became ill.

The latest national polls has the race real close, Romney has picked up support. He leads in the Rasmussen Poll, 49-47. While the latest Gallup poll still has Obama ahead 49-46. Both polls fall within the margin of error stat. So the "Fat Lady" is not singing for anybody yet!-- It's too close to call.

Arctic Ice Melt, Sea Level Rise May Pose Imminent Threat To Island Nations, Climate Scientist Says

By James Gerken
Posted: 10/05/2012 4:39 pm EDT

Low-lying island nations threatened by rising sea levels this century could see the disastrous consequences of climate change far sooner than expected, according to one of the world's leading climate scientists.

In the wake of last month's discovery that the extent of Arctic sea ice coverage hit a record low this year, climate scientist Michael Mann told the Guardian that "Island nations that have considered the possibility of evacuation at some point, like Tuvalu, may have to be contending those sort of decisions within the matter of a decade or so."

Mann, who is the director of Pennsylvania State University's Earth System Science Center, said that current melting trends show sea ice is "declining faster than the models predict."

"The models have typically predicted that will not happen for decades but the measurements that are coming in tell us it is already happening so once again we are decades ahead of schedule," Mann told the Guardian.

This year's record melting, which occurred under more "normal" conditions than the previous record set in 2007, left Arctic sea ice at a minimum "nearly 50 percent lower than the average ... for the years 1979-2000," according to Climate Central.

Rapidly decreasing sea ice suggests that the melting of polar ice sheets may occur more rapidly than previously predicted. Mann explained to the Guardian that "we [will] really start to see sea level rises accelerate," as the Greenland and the west Antarctic ice sheets disappear. Unlike with the melting of sea ice, these ice sheets would introduce vast quantities of water into the world's oceans, making them "critical from the standpoint of sea level rise," according to Mann.

The ongoing rise in average global temperatures, which has accelerated Arctic ice melt, has been largely attributed to the burning of fossil fuels and the resultant increase in greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide in our atmosphere.

For the most vulnerable island nations, like the Maldives, Kiribati, the Torres Strait Islands and many others, rising seas will bring significant coastal erosion and saltwater contamination of limited freshwater supplies. Environmental group Oceana recently noted that nations dependent upon the sea will face food security threats as greater temperatures and atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide increase ocean acidity and put marine life at risk.

Despite the increasingly clear picture painted by scientific observations and climate modeling, "There's a huge gap between what is understood by the scientific community and what is known by the public," according to NASA scientist James Hansen. Recent polling suggests that as much as 35 percent of the U.S. population and 37 percent of the British public remain unconvinced of the scientific reality of climate change.

Thanks "We". Then the President should have jumped all over this fact and said, or have told the American people, just where Romney said this--His own own campaign web page. Big mistake by Obama. He blew that! The President should have fired back saying, "it's on your own web site!. Instead he just kept on saying the 5trillion dollar figure, and Romney continually denying it. He (Obama) has to be better on firing back.

Welcome back SNoTT!

Quoting originalLT:
Well, we will see "T", I hope you are right. I just wish that when Gov. Romney kept denying he proposed a 5 trillion dollar tax cut that the President said could not be paid for, and which Romney kept denying he said, that Obama could have pointed to an exact time or place where Romney said it. The way it was left, people could choose to believe either one, if nothing direct was cited by the President. It's word against word. Do wou know "T", or anyone else who visits this blog, where Romney may have said or indicated this?(talking about the 5trillion dollar tax cut).

hey Original, The reference or source is Mitt's own campaign web page!

From Fact Check: A $5 Trillion Tax Cut:
It is true that Mr. Romney has proposed “revenue neutral” tax reform, meaning that he would not expand the deficit. However, he has proposed cutting all marginal tax rates by 20 percent — which would in and of itself cut tax revenue by $5 trillion.

Romney's tax plan has been debunked by the Tax Policy Center.
ABSTRACT This paper examines the tradeoffs among three competing goals that are inherent in a revenue- neutral income tax reform—maintaining tax revenues, ensuring a progressive tax system, and lowering marginal tax rates—drawing on the example of the tax policies advanced in presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s tax plan. Our major conclusion is that any revenue-neutral individual income tax change that incorporates the features Governor Romney has proposed would provide large tax cuts to high-income households, and increase the tax burdens on middle- and/or lower- income taxpayers.

There's a link to the report .pdf file included here.
(note, link to the big orange)

Cutting marginal tax rates by 20% = $5,000,000,000,000 tax cut

If Romney's tax cuts don't add to the deficit, then, in truth, by Mitt's proposed plan, the rich get the tax cut and the rest must pay more...the money has to come from somewhere.

O, if he doesn't know what's written in his own tax plan, then who wrote his tax plan?
(reminds me of lessons from schooldays, if you are going to let someone else do your math homework, at least check the answers before turning it in!)
