Is it mid-December already...?! I hope everyone is doing well. I'm okay and coming up for air every so often, but diving deeply right back into work again.
Good grief, I can't believe there's been 3 months I don't remember where they went. I s'pose time flies when y'er having fun?
Around here, all is well. Angel is not always so angelic, but still a good pup. The rest of the critters are doing well. I lost one BPR hen (no visible reason), but the other 17 are doing well. We're nearing the 5,000 egg laid mark (not bad, considering the first batch of girls started last year August). All horses are doing well, although my oldest worried me a few times.
Classes are finally coming to an end. Whew. Had the toughest class (and a pretty intense other one with it), which kept me from most fun stuff.
Didn't help that I spent several days in court in October (remember the contractor situation?). It's resolved. Not as well as I hoped, but it's done. At least I can move beyond now. (Ended up leaving "skin in the game" when I scalped my heel the final day ... still healing that big chunk. Thankfully it's only now starting to get cold. I'm slowly getting to where I can wear closed shoes again. Yea. Just in time for cold weather to arrive. Whew!)
I hope everyone in the US had a great Turkey Day and wishing everyone a wonderful Holiday Season, no matter if you celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice or just the end of another year and a great 2013.
My wish for my 2013 is that time will slow down a little bit. The two classes I selected for the Spring semester should be less work. At least one is, that much I know :) The other one is probably relative dry, but we'll see...

Angel will get better. We need some new pictures of her.
I know about those classes. Daughter just finished one of her hardest ones also. She's now done but graduation won't be until spring. She has her bachelor's in criminal justice. Will be starting work in the spring at the county jail. Finally some money coming in instead of going out!!
Have a nice holiday season.
Lois
Lotis: congrats to your daughter and all the best in her new line of work. It's always nice when the money doesn't just go out, is it? :)
Right now I'm frustrated w/ the instructor of that super tough class. All items have been submitted, but no grade posted since mid-November. And that's almost 50% of the grade points out there. Irritating... since these are online classes, the instructors are supposed to give feedback (even if only via grade) in a timely fashion. 4 weeks is hardly "timely" in my book. Sigh. Yes, frustrated b/c I like to know that I nailed that grade. LOL.
Weather turned nasty the last two days. Not like the white mess up north, but still chilly.
Riding lesson last night got cut short due to rain. Most was done in sideways shifting mist drizzle, which wasn't too bad, but when it came down, I told my trainer, I quit... it's /- 50F (10C) and blustery wind, plus I'm soaked. Time to call it quits though I don't quit easily... Supposed to hit down to the upper 30s (~3C) overnight, so the still existing tomatoes and lemon basil will need coverage overnight. Till Christmas, temps are supposed to go back up. 70s / 50s F (20-25C / 10 - 15C). I can live with that :)
I would think the Prof would have posted some of the remaining scores by now, but I guess you have no choice but to be patient! :(
Are your two spring classes the last ones, or are here more on the horizon?
No, Spring will mark the half point (only taking 2 classes / semester since I work full-time).
As for patience, I'm getting a bit IMpatient lol. Official grades post on the 19th, but I want to see the assignment breakdown before that. (I'm pretty sure I know what grade I will get in both classes but still... lol.)
Tomball: Thank you for the comment. I will try to post a new picture or two of Angel in the next few days. No promises though. Too many things to do now that outside work is more fun (practically no bugs, pretty nice and dry weather for the most part. That is, not counting Tue/Wed rain which dropped about 1" of rather needed wet).
Angel has grown like weed, but she's slowly showing evidence that the brain is starting to develop a bit too. Thankfully! She's about 8 months now. Hard to believe how time flies...
I hope all folks over in the California region are okay. That little M6-plus shake is probably not too much out of the ordinary, but still... I know I wouldn't like it there. But I know many ppl are well prepared for these types of tremors.
Good luck with your classes.
Skye: I'm making a point to work that goofy TB a lot more these days, though the dark is not really helping. Last show he was a bit, ummm... silly, performing a bunch of airs above ground. Thankfully I wasn't in saddle at the time, but definitely a need to work more.
Thus far, this year was not a bad one for weather related problems. Though the summer with its 55-plus inches of rain was a problem at times, but overall, not too many rained out lesson nights. Can't really complain.
Wished I could find some low-cost solar solution to light up the mini riding area that's about 50 x 100 feet (yea, not quite regulation size lol) sufficiently enough to see, but not to be blinded.
All the solutions I have come across have been insanely priced (mostly due to the lights themselves). If anyone sees anything low-cost (not saying "cheap" as in so cheap it works a month and then quits), I'm all for it. Just need the lights to be switchable, i.e. on / off as I like my super night sky. The last few nights I watched as Geminids (and the new Pisces?) meteors streaked across the band of the Milky Way. Last night I still saw one in a span of about 15 minutes watching (there were surely more while I was out feeding but I didn't stargaze at that point) even though the peak was on the 13th. A lovely and awe inspiring view. Don't want to kill it with dusk to dawn lights. :)
Had just got on the highway when a bright light came flying past me (overhead). At first I thought it was a low, fast flying helicopter on the way to the hospital. But then, it just disappeared into thin air. I've never seen a meteor that low to the ground before.
Would have liked to have been in some of the other cars behind me to hear the comments. Or, better yet, the ones going the other direction, when it was coming right at them!
I have now Guineas and peafowl. They are still little but really fun to watch!
From a soggy and foggy but otherwise still relatively warm corner of Florida. :)
