A Non-Blog

A Non-Blog?

Well, yeah. See I started out typing stuff up here that I thought would be interesting, then we would discuss it in the comments. Invariably we would wander off topic, which was really more fun anyway, and the discussion would have little or nothing to do with the title.

So, now, once in a while, I just start a new page with what I hope will be an interesting title and we go from there. It's not a blog in the normal sense, as the real content is in the comments.

So, you'll just have to read along...or not. In any case, welcome...Enjoy your stay!

Sorry I missed you man!
Was having major issues with WU pages refusing to load completely. They pull a lot of stuff from a lot of domains to assemble these pages on the fly. If one has a glitch, it seems that it can break the whole thing.

Anyway, Angie made it home okay. the collision of the storms occurred about 10 miles north of where she works and stalled. Not good for whoever lives there...mostly flat ground...but at least she didn't have heavy storms all the way home.

So...you are off to bed, Pottery is off doing whatever it is that he does when nobody is watching. Reckon I might as well call it.

Orange Marinade!

OK, home from Chior practice, HI FOXXY. :)

Dinner was roasted chicken with a Bacon peppercorn
sauce, keenwa, and collard greens without
bacon and onions.(No, I ate the chicken).

The only thing good about collard greens is the
bacon and onions. LOL

We all miss you. Just happy that you are safe and still above water. Your report is pretty consistent with others I have seen. Dat's a bunch lotta water by anyone's standards!

Take good care and I hope things get back to "normal" for you guys ASAP.

Hi all.... what a crazy wild 24 hours we have had here on the Emerald Coast! Rain and do I mean RAIN - I have never seen so much wet stuff falling from the skies! Reports vary any where from 15 inches to 26+ inches in 24 hours!!! My rain gauges could not keep up! My neighbor said 20 inches here - and I don't doubt it. The bay is rising & the water is the ickiest color I have ever seen... Of course, the rain in the past 24 hours is in addition to the 10+ inches we had last week! We are more than saturated, even my back yard has standing water! The bay is up to the sea wall on one side of the walkway to the dock and it has almost completely covered my little beach area on the other side of the walk... But we are good and hoping that we can dry out before the next rainfall comes this way!

You guys should get fb accounts, I don't visit WU much anymore... its just not as "user friendly" as it once was. But I sure do miss you guys!
Talk to you later.
and Stay SAFE!

Good idea to take a trip up the hill soon, just in case the tree is wonky and the road washes out next month.

Thanks. I'll use that bit of Common Sense when I broach the subject.

Not that there's need for too much Persuasion.
She's happy up there too. As long as I do some cooking……..

More rain arriving from the glades. Rain creeping south along the boundary line. The to look likely to meet right about when and where Angie gets off work tonight.

Calabash Tree update…..

Durinbg the unusually dry Aug-Sept, the tree lost a lot of leaves, and put them back on.
Now, it still has a lot of leaves.
I don't recall leaves on that tree at the end of April, in 20-odd years.

No sign of new leaf-shoots anywhere, so maybe, either……

1) the tree is Wonky
2) the rain is a long way off.

I go with Wonky Tree, since I am the Eternal Optimist and I cannot bear the thought that we are going to be this dry for too much longer.

May be time to head for the house in the hills, next week.
I will put the Proposal to Lady Pott this evening. After she's had a glass of wine or two……

heheheheheh

Sit-ups, push-ups…..

I went to sleep.
It was really very nice, because tonight we have to go out to dinner in the city.
Need to stay awake for that, and for the drive home too.

Afternoon is cooling down, but today was a scorcher.
Bring on the rains, man.

ROFL - yeah, have never seen the Blue guy or his
little Red friend! LOL It would appear that the
blue Ardvark is wearing blue pants and the ant
is missing a few legs also. :))

I have seen the swept wing F-111A however.

Daughter just came in to pick up the Hulk.
Think I'll sneak a nap in before dinner.
Did 100 situps and 50 pushups this morning.

I was just about to call Publix and see if you'd fallen asleep in the yogurt aisle.
Guess you are a little too old to remember that blue aardvark from the cartoons. You were probably pretty busy on the other side of the world about that time. Anyway...if you did, you'd know that aardvarks are blue and have big ears!

Grandpa is probably more familiar with this Aardvark.

No nap for Grandpa today, the young Paleontoligist
is here for the afternoon. Ear ache kept him out
of school today but he is feeling better now.
Daughter will pick him up at 4 PM after she picks
up the Princess from school.

Just had a fascinating class from the young man
on the difference between Ardvarks and Anteaters.
Did you know for instance that one has small ears
and one has really big ears? I know which one it
is now but I won't tell you guys. heh heh heh

Thanks for the info Goofy.
Getting cloudier here by the hour and the first rain of the day started a couple minutes ago. Different from what they've been having in the north part of the state as these are smaller cells drifting northward and not that long, drawn out stuff.

I can't even contemplate moving at this point. Too much stuff to go through.

We have had more than an inch of rain since early this morning. Consistent E 10-20 mph g 30-35 all night.

See Destin and parts west and east gaging over 17 in since yesterday.

Up here that is 1/2 to full PMP and will stress most dams to overtopping. That means bridges over waterways designed to pass a 100 yr., recurrence storm will wash out. Big problem will come with sanitation, water and food, and flood rescues.

Enjoying time home with No 2. No 1 took the baby girl to final house inspection after furniture packed. Miss K looked around at the empty house and said couch baba and started to chew out Pop.

Well, I slept late because I was lost in an airport and all the signs were making no sense and I could,t find my passport and ended up in the bowels of the place where people were wandering about looking at floral arrangements and playing with model trains.

Exhausting!
I hate dreams like that….
