Then out spake brave Horatius,
The Captain of the Gate:
"To every man upon this earth
Death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better
Than facing fearful odds,
For the ashes of his fathers,
And the temples of his gods,

"And for the tender mother
Who dandled him to rest,
And for the wife who nurses
His baby at her breast,
And for the holy maidens
Who feed the eternal flame,
To save them from false Sextus
That wrought the deed of shame?

"Haul down the bridge, Sir Consul,
With all the speed ye may;
I, with two more to help me,
Will hold the foe in play.
In yon strait path a thousand
May well be stopped by three.
Now who will stand on either hand,
And keep the bridge with me?"

36 here now, wind chill of 31, pink and blue and white
stuff on the way from Bama. Think Shep has the right
idea, if the power goes out in the middle of the night
the alarm will wake us up anyway. Damn thing makes a
loud gonging noise just to tell us its on battery back
up. Gee, couldn't it just keep that to itself? :))

Night all, will take photos of the ice, darn, wonder
if Curly, Larry, and Moe made it back under the house?

Kind of a scary sentence.
Today is singularly obtuse, even for a Monday, which is particularly disturbing seeing as how it is Tuesday.

It is refreshing to know that you and Pottery are
plugging away at whatnot and stuff. We can all rest
safe because you two have your shoulders to the wheel,
and your noses to the grindstone! Doesn't that hurt
by the way? Maybe thats why your noses look that way.
No offense of course. BWAA HAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAA

Speaking of rest, what a great idea.

Will check in later, before dinner perhaps. :))

Tis an interesting day it tis it tis.
Never hit 45 like "they" said. Hit 41 and then started
dropping. 38 now near my house, wind chill of 35. Still
just cold rain. Under Winter Warning now for 7 PM and
beyond. "They" are saying bad things like 3/4" of ice.
"They" are saying bad things like Wed and Thurs of ice
pellets. "They" are using bad words like "Catastrophic".

I think "They" are wired a little too tight. :))

SugarBear and I are both home safe and sound.
Grand kids will be home at 4 PM.
Son In Law at 5 PM.

They have a fireplace, we have a fireplace.
Schools are closed tomorrow, Church is closed also.

None of us will be on the roads.
I wonder if I have any marshmellows for the fireplace?

Hmmmm, no way I'm going to Publix. :))

Later.

I am Deeply Submerged in a task that means I have on my Architects Hat.
(no, I'm not a member of that August Profession. My concept is very simple---
-- design it so that's it's viewed from INSIDE to OUTSIDE. (Who cares what the neighbours think ??) Especially in this case where the view is down-valley for miles….
-- design it so it is easily built.

Will need a Structural Engineer to come up with the frame and the footings.
Not a particularly stable hillside.
Road access better than the last one, but no way a Readymix truck is getting up there fully loaded.
Options.

Right, thanks for that. :):))

Rain is here, 39 degrees, supposed to drop tonight and
turn to freezing rain and ice pellets, shows blue and
white on radar, must mean its snowing at higher elevations
but not hitting the ground like that. If it doesn't
warm up or the temp starts dropping close to 32 it may
start icing up earlier than "they" are forecasting.

Will be an interesting race today, have to finish
clearing the equipment room at Church, could be slip
sliding away on the trip home today. :))

Will keep you posted, time to get going.

Greetings.

WEll, IT starts today, you know.
IT involves the Judging of the Pan Sides in the yards, by an Auspicious bunch of Musicologists.

So, that's were we (and several thousands of others) will be hanging out tonight.

I could join up with any number of Maxi-Taxi Limes, where you pay a small fee, put the cooler on board, and rush from yard to yard following the judges. That way, you get to hear most of the bands in the North-East region tonight.

We prefer to be less tied-down. Will not hear all the bands but will have a more relaxed time.

From here on, it's Bachanal Time. Semi-finals on the 15th in the Savannah.
A most Suitable way to Celebrate Lady Potts Birthday.

Okay, so...jungle book characters on The Ark.

Hood...Akela, the wolf.
Shep...Bagheera (my fav. from the Disney version)
Swamp...Baloo
Pott...King Louie
Snake...Hathi, the Elephant general.

Of course, Goofy, well, I can't picture any Disney character besides Goofy.

The rest, well you can pick your own Jungle Book Avatar, or someone will suggest one for you.

Having a hard time deciding on Ylee. Maybe Mowgli?
Skye, you get to pick your own.(I'm not stupid.)
