Welcome to The Ark

If you need to get away from all the "end of the world" hullabaloo, well, what better place to hide than an Ark?

Hang out, play some music, have a cookie, some eggnog, or maybe some grog. Be ready to celebrate that we're all still here!

The tutorial for the Youtube code generator is now in Post 7 and 8 of The Ark help files. The link to the generator is now in the right column in my links section here.

Please read the tutorial. It's really easy once you know what to and not to do.

Enjoy!

Hey Happy New Year!
Thanks for all the greetings, good wishes, etc.!

Hope you all had a really good evening to start off a great year.

Sorry to leave you here to do the countdown, Ski. Had to do the NY Eve party thing.

No gunfire that I noticed, but lots of banging and booming and sparkly stuff everywhere. No mine simulators either, though I kept waiting for all of happy valley to shake. Guess The Guard got a little better handle on inventory control. Apparently at one point someone either fused together a thousand dollars worth of stuff or a stray bottle rocket hit someone's stash and it all went off at once. Quite the flash and boom show for a minute on the other side of the lake.

(story mode on)
Got a frantic call from Earl about 2 am. Seems he was cruising through this sector investigating un-authorized probing incidents when he look to his right and saw lots of flashing and explosions on the dark side of our fair planet. He noticed they continued with a spike in activity every hour. Poor guy thought a world war had broken out.

Anyway, I explained our species' penchant for wrapping unstable flammables tightly in paper and setting them on fire to startle small children, worry mothers, annoy neighbors, and just generally have a good time.

He didn't quite get it but asked if he could try some eggnog next year.

Also, managed to get through the night without once hearing the phrases..."Hey man, hold my beer!" or "Y'all watch this."

So...all told, pretty good night.

See you later today.

Morning Arkers!

Most of the local rednecks used up their fireworks
and ammo before midnight so it was actually quiet by
the time the New Year came by this area. :)

I wonder if this rain that is coming is going to get
here before my annual New Years Day Rib Eye BBQ starts
at 12 noon today? Moved the grill to the back porch
just in case anyway so take your best shot rain cloud!

Inside/Outside makes no difference, will party on. :)

Note for those who may be interested: found a local
supplier of Meyer's Dark Rum yesterday. Magnum.
Will store it in a temperature controlled dark space.
heh heh heh (don't tell Pottery I have re-stocked)

Hey Guys!
Looks like 'Snake's got the cotton candy machine fired up again.
Just put plugs in Angie's car. Trying to talk myself into changing the oil. Best not sit still too long.

Shop building mode sounds good. I've got to get into tool organizing mode. Too many hurried projects lately. Too many things in the wrong place. Too many things broken or worn.

Of course, what I really need is a new shop with lots of room that no one else has a key to!

Yeah...that would work!

OK, no more food, no more parties, well, not until
Ground Hogs Day anyway. :)

Rumor has it that two groundhogs throw a big birthday
bash for each other on Feb 2nd. Rumor has it that
everyone is invited. Just call me first and let me
know if you are going to be here. We have seating for
25 so get your RSVP in early. Party fills up fast!

Until then, we diet. :(

Suppose it's possible, but that's prolly all that cold dry air behind a front. Your best bet might be Thursday night. Kinda low odds though.

NWS Ruskin is saying 54 here Friday night. Still too early to call.

Yup.
I have enough textured concrete blocks left over from a mall job to build it. Plus an extra 4'x7' commercial steel door and steel frame that an architect had us replace with a 3'. Got a stack of painted roofing metal stashed under the trees from a Home Depot purchaser's goof-up. Plenty of leftover Yale hardware in boxes also.

Kinda like finding a shop kit in the dumpster.

Grand daughter blew up her 93 Mitsubishi 3000GT over the weekend. I inherited it. Looks like my first project in the new shop will be Peepa's new Hot Rod.
I did a complete brake job on that car during the summer. So, it will stop...I just have to make it go.

:)))

Snake looks around, 0430 hours, seems quiet enough,
wonder what that sound was, better check it out.
Security system check, front porch check, back porch check,
ahh, there it is, Christmas ornament on the floor,
that explains the double sound that woke me up,
thump thump. Good thing it was one of the metal
Harley Davidson ornaments. The little string that holds
it on the tree branch broke, it hit the coffee table
the tree sits on and then the hardwood floor. Thump Thump.

Foggy outside, 54*, rain has stopped, too warm for sleet,
tonights low supposed to be 30* now instead of in the 20's.

Might as well make some coffee. Today's list: take the
Christmas Train set down untill next year, take the
Christmas Lights down outside, always a sad day. :)

Greetings !
Really nice to see that I'm not the only one with a list already for 2013.
Replacing engines, re-organising tools, going on diets until GH day, whatnot, stuff.
Go for it, guys. It all builds Character. And everyone knows you all need some.

Everyone in this house has gone to the Tate Gallery to see the Pre-Raphaelites. I thought that I would take the day off, confirm my flights back home for early in the morning, and generally goof off in an Extreme Manner.

By the way. My Character gets built by Osmosis. Just reading about your lists is enough to get my Character soaring like a Hok.

Good Afternoon.
Sunny and 75. Nice day.
Might be cloudy the rest of the week but not cold.

Wonder what broke the string Snake?

Pottery, Happy Goof off day!
Everyone needs one.

By Hok, do you mean a helicopter or martial arts master Crane?
Perhaps neither.

Hope you are all having a good day!

"Wonder what broke the string Snake?"

Great minds think alike don't they?

We have about 12 of those Harley ornaments, six of
them are metal motorcycles with riders on them. You
would think that they would put a strong wire hook
on them but no, they put a cheap lightweight string
on them. I have replaced four of them so far with
heavy weight metal hooks. That was one of the two I
never fixed yet.

Goofing off all day sounds good, I will try that one
of these days, right now however, it is nap time. :)

(Nap time does not qualify as goofing off by the way)

Well DONE, the kids are back in their nests 'cept for one on TDY locally. Understand the babies slept for their return across the pond. Now to remove the trees and decorations, train sets, and resident toys. Got my bed back, so sleep may happen soon. Roomed with the baby. Funny how if you hold them, change the wet stuff, watch them in the night and bottle and feed them, the shyness goes away in a day or so. The BW is bit off, but that will pass. Temps in the 30's-20's but no snow here either.

This agile beast, when it's feeling it's oats again, will run circles around most cars on the road.
It's got all the yee-ha I'll ever need.
Gonna put in new suspension and frame bushings to snug everything back down and batten the hatches. A good set of new wide soft rubber shoes and weeeeeeee!!!

They are pretty quick Shep. Might be able to find a non-US version of the engine for it.

Mulling over an engine transplant for Angie's old S10. Although, what I'd really like to do is put batteries under the bed and put a 100 hp or so electric motor in it.

'Course, I never have time and money at the same moment in time to do it...so it sits on blocks in a garage. Right beside the Trans Am and Corvette.

Or a re-cam to open up the exhausts and a big turbo thingy. Over sized radiator. New balanced crank. I can bring the pistons and rods in pretty darn close to balance....and the most expensive timing belts I can find. :)

Odd weather going on in Macon too, temp has dropped 15 degrees since the sun went down. 50 right now headed to 41.

Christmas train set is all packed up, as well as the front door decos and the front porch lights. Had to be carefull of the right shoulder, amazing how often you have to raise your arm to do just normal stuff around the house. I'm right handed and I don't seem to be able to get the left arm to work on stuff first. Will do the back porch tomorrow when it warms up some. Don't see the bone Doc until the 14th. Gonna be a race to see if I can keep from doing any more damage to the dumb thing than I already have. Of course he can always fix it all while he's in there poking around with his little robot tools and laser. :)

I saw the video on the left shoulder surgery that I had done in 2005. Was really cool, was 35 min long, he had a camera, a flood light, a vacuum, two BBQ tongs that he held the two sides of the tenden with while he melted them together with the laser, a cutting tool, and a tiny garden hose. That is 8 tiny tools that were in there at the same time. There were only 4 tiny holes in my shoulder. One in the front, two in the arm, and one in the back. Amazing, eh?

I didn't actually see the camera with the light on it of course, thats what was taking the video. :)

Time to rest the arm, see you in the morning.

Tie a string between your right elbow and your belt to limit movement. Just don't post anything on Orca's blog about the string or you'll never hear the end of it! :o)

Greetings and salutations fellow Arkers!

Yes, it is I, Snakeymon, checking in finally.
It seems that after I went to sleep last night, Sugar
Bear tried to check E-mail and wasn't able to get the
password correct due to the fact that I had to change
the password yesterday afternoon because ATT now has
an automatic password checker that pops up and rates
your passwords and if your simple to remember pass
word doesn't meet its minimum standards you have to
type in a new one that does meet its standards or it
won't let you continue on the web until you do.

So, I changed our password to something that the robot
password jumbie would accept. I then wrote the new
password on a piece of paper and placed it on the light
stand for SugarBear to place it on her list of passwords
that we both keep even though you are not supposed to
do that but because of our memory we find it very helpful
to do.

She forgot that I had written the new one down for her
and so she changed it to another new password last night.
She did not write it down for me however.
So, I couldn't get on the web this morning at 0400 hours
and being a wise man I knew that waking her up to
find out what the new password was would not be a good
idea,
so I just went back to sleep. She got up and left for
an appointment before I woke up so I was still not
able to get on the web so I changed it again.:)

We are now on the same sheet of music and have sort of
established some form of rules and regulations for this
sort of thing in the future. Yeah, right. :)

Tomorrow's forecast:
Friday
A 40 percent chance of rain. Areas of dense fog before 2pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 77...

Wow, I don't remember the last time it was foggy past 10.
Might have to make Angie stay home tomorrow!

What we have here is a failure to communicate:

Will RTL meet for cool beans at 0 Dark thirty;

Will my turkey meatloaf be ready in time;

Will Shep drop a Porsche 911 T engine in a 1500 Bug and really have some fun with the natives;

Will POTT have tales of old blighty;

Will Swamp be seen again soon;

Will a north western fella and his gal make it to the land of the Margaritas and wide brim dunce caps;

It snowed today in west Texas and points west. So in we have:

It's 85F.
It's not raining.
The sky is clear.
There's a mosquito buzzing round my head.
There's a rum with 3 blocks of ice at my elbow.
There's the sounds of footsteps on the floor upstairs.
There's the sound of the water pump coming on from time to time, and froggies chiruping and crickets cricketing.

I must be Home.

Ahhhh, This feels nice.
See you'all tomorrow.

Well, he is drinking rum while his elbow is sitting on 3 blocks of ice after all,
you don't suppose he slipped on the ice in London Town
and damaged his elbow do you?

We will have to wait until tomorrow to get the whole story. :)
