YCD,
War is never a good thing.
Unfortunately, looking more and more like we're (NATO) gonna have to go into Syria. The UN is dysfunctional in their primary purpose, stopping wars, and seems more concerned with controlling the internet at the moment.

This could have been avoided. Not excusing my country's lack of action...we were more concerned with elections and pretending that terrorist groups and terrorist states did not exist.

That was my reason for the tributes/salutes to the troops last night. I'm afraid that once again they are going into harms way.

Rob:
Got Skynyrd up and running.
I've seen U.N. effectiveness up close. They could not pass checkpoints unless I "carried" them through in Liberia. That is a quote from a gate commander: "U.N. will not pass unless you carry them."
'Course the U.N. had the stuff I needed - tents and water pumps and tools. So I did "carry" them one time to a village in Loffa County and we were successful: we got one water pump in the middle of a damaged village. One local came to me and said: "So we should eat the new pump?"
T'anks God I'm too old to go back out there again

Good Morning!

Shep, weren't sleeping. Thought the net was down. Turned out to be a cable issue. One day I'll teach that darn cat to stay off my stuff...not!

Ah, an old favorite tune. Thanks man.
Oh...what are the Guac and lure recipes for the day?

Pottery, he should be more careful about yelling duck! Down here on the edge of the lake it can result in shotguns going off!
:o)

Orca! Well, if you gotta have it, you might as well play in it! Well timed pic!

YCD, Well...I suppose there are a few advantages to getting older. Heard a lot of stories like yours. Of course, it's not the fault of the boots on the ground but organizational dysfunction and lack of trust/respect.

Ski, You are welcome!

Pearl Harbor Day. A good time to reach out to a WWII vet. There are fewer of them every day. Let them know that they are appreciated.

No lure making today.( still haven't made a new mantis shrimp yet from the image you posted)

Too busy making up my mind on a new image/graphics program for a new business venture.

Probably settle with Adobe CS6 Cloud membership on a new dedicated laptop.

Oh yeah man! With bacon!

SugarBear and I both had one when they visited.
RTL turned his nose up at the "green stuff" though.

If you ever get down to Swampyville, have him take you there.
Burgers anyway you can imagine.

Biff Burger.

Sounds good to me.
Especially since all I had for dinner was some soft-boiled yard-fowl eggs, home made bread, and stuff.

No wonder I'm feeling weak.

Hello and Greetings.

The sky is dripping, and the Lady has gone off to the early morning market in Couva with the two young people from Montreal.

I have been instructed to prepare 100 lbs of clay.
This involves wedging it into homongenous lumps of about 10 lbs each.
Wedging means kneading.
Kneading means exertion and muscular prowess.
It's a fine upper-body workout.
By 10:00 am I will be a sweaty, tired, dirty old man.

Everything is Normal.

Morning Arkers!

Smoking kingfish, well, couldn't be any worse than some of the cigars I've smoked in my lifetime. Matter of fact, I'd probably prefer to smoke it than eat it. Don't care much for seafood in the first place. :)

Hey Pottery, how about using a small concrete mixer?
Don't know much about clay myself, except I have 16 inches of Georgia Red Clay under my yard. Want any of that?

Love that helicopter video Rob! My favorite chopper was the little Loch. Thought about buying one but the price is a little prohibitive. :)

Good Morning Rattler!

You can buy a pug mill that wedges and de-airs the clay, but then Pottery has all that extra time and energy to get into trouble. Plus...you can buy a whole lotta rum and aspirin for what they cost.

Pottery,
Shouldn't you let the tourist do that?

It's those dang new Utube embed changes.
How do you deal with one that doesn't show "enable old embed code" option?

Found a new toy, thanks to ossymon :)

Just tried to embed a youtube video and I can't find any way to use the old embed code. Apparently WU still isn't allowing iframes.

Is there a workaround?

Shep and Shore,

I ran into several of those with no old embed code the last couple days. I don't know a work-around.

could probably take the embed code from another vid and change the video code (it's in two places in the old embed code) then post that. Not sure...would have to experiment, but it's a long way around to accomplish what should be a simple matter.

What ! And be left with just the dirty old man part ?
OK. I guess that's fine actually. :):))

As Hood said, a pug mill would do the thing. Had a nice one in the old workshop, but it finally died...
A 'mixer' wont do it, the idea is too de-air it and knead it until most of the microscopic particles are sweetly lined up.
Then your clay becomes real nice to work with.

Expecting son and Alex&Amy in a few, so I have to get busy. Not that I wasn't you understand.

Also had to show the Visitors how to light the "coal-pot" which an oldtime small BBQ pit that burns coal (and cedar chips for flavour).
They bought some nice Carite in the market, and have been scrounging around the garden looking for 'erbs' to season it with.

I showed them the cilantro, the lemon grass, the spanish thyme, but did not introduce them to my 'erb bush......

Laters then>>>>>>>>>>

LOL to that !!

On an entirely different topic (!??) I read this week a very well-put argument from Richard Branson (Virgin Air) suggesting that it really is pointless to keep grass illegal.
Billions spent, thousands of otherwise innocent young people in prison, etc etc. with absolutely no benefits at all.

I read it on BBC or CNN, cant remember. 2 or 3 days ago

EDIT, just looked back a few days. Maybe they moved it.........

Didn't know you played. Awesome. A girl I used to play with played flute on a few songs that we did. Color my world, a zeppelin tune that escapes me at the moment, etc. Added a lot more to the music than her $10K synth and sample rig ever could.

ooops :)

All ingredients cold.

Hollowed out small Italian tomatoes.
Avocado/salt/onion/cucumber/tomato hearts/black olive/...Tiger Sauce optional :) especially if you have a cold beer.

Stuff tomato hulls and eat immediately before anyone else sees them. Also good if you have some fresh cold green tomato hulls.

Great finger food while you're walking out the back door headed to the fishin' hole. And it's also great served with the fresh fried Blue Gill you're about to catch...if there's any left when you get back.

...sweet nora
