Last night I typed a reply to both of Ski's comments, clicked post, and boom! Couldn't get back here.

No Pottery, no new boats this week :o(

Shen!!!!
Good to see you back!

Good Morning Todd!
I'm tired today too, but...since my $2 worth of wishful thinking didn't materialize last night there remains much to be done this week.
br>Oh, well. Back to the grind.

Just about quitting time. Wow, today went by fast. Come to think of it, the whole week is going by fast.

Thinking I might have to revert to Classic WU. The new additions (community activity and new post/refresh alerts at top of page) are very distracting to me and I don't yet know a way to turn them off/block them.

Yeah, that's working on my laptop now.
Wouldn't stay paused on the desktop today.
Maybe set by a cookie and maybe the cookie got corrupted.
Will check the cookie jar.

Thanks for the tune too!

If he shows up with my boat he's in big trouble! Well, unless he offers me a ride!

Might not be able to blog from the deck tonight. Skeeters are a little thick.

Well, it cooled down, the wind picked back up a bit, and the skeeters decided to call it a night.

Dog and I can enjoy the deck for a while longer.

Good Morning !
Sunlight and tiny raindrops are flooding the garden with Sparkles and Glitter.
Parrots are squarking and orioles are singing songs of Promise.

For some of us, Life is Good.
I think I'll shoot off some emails to a friend that might need some Sparkle, Glitter and Promise today.

Good Morning Pottery.
Must have just missed you when I checked the blog earlier.

Wrapping up the week here. Might get out and mow the accumulating leaves from the maples that are trying to decide what season it is.

Trees here are also Confused....
Some are losing leaves very early.
Others are flowering entirely out-of-season.
But worst of all, my Calabash tree has lost most of it's leaves, and put them back on again!

I checked it this morning, and there are...

12 branches with old leaves
21 calabashes
12 branches with new leaves

That's 12/21/12, or 21/12/12 if you like. Just for ease of reference you understand.

The numbers seem familiar to me, but I dont remember why.

Morning Rob,

Hope your feeling better this am..
And your friend also..

Hey Pot..
I had to look up calabash in order to figure out what that is..kinda of a woody bush from what I understand..Is the fruit edible?..
And yes those numbers do seem familiar somehow.. :)

Hey Todd!
Happy Friday!

Pcola,
You don't reckon Pottery would manipulate the data do you? Of course, the thing about raw data is that you can often arrange it is such a way as to see what you were looking for.

I prefer to look at the branches first and the fruit after. That would yield 12-12-21. Of course that is not nearly as fun.

There are two different calabashes that I know of. One is a vine, the other a tree. I believe Pottery is referring to the tree variety...Crescentia.

I think I have a photo of it if I can find where on my server I stashed it.

Well, Whadaya know?
It's a picture of that Peculiar Fellow again.

That pic of the Calabash is in the Dry Season.
I just sent you one from today.
It's a pretty tree with leaves on.
We have 4 different varieties in the garden, where the 'fruit' are either long, small, round, massive....

And no, they are not edible. Never seen anything eat them. Filled with a stink goo that goes from grey to blue when you cut them open.
When they are dry they will last forever.
Think "chack-chack" or "maracas" in the rhythm section of the Caribbean/Central American band.

That was a Good loaf of bread.
Made with some whole wheat flour that comes from India. A little heavy, but very tasty indeed.

An area of heavy weather has been lurking just S/E of here for 3 days.
Today we can hear the distant Rumbles and it's overcast and dark.
Could use some proper rain to top the cisterns right up.
It will probably get here just as we are leaving to go into the City this evening.....

Rains are here.
Squally stuff, and quite dark and ominous.
Good weather for a Siesta, but too late in the day for that!
Looks like plenty more's a'comin'.....

Greetings !
Spent the morning doing some planting at the WildFowl Trust.
It rained down in bucketloads and we were well soaked to the marrow, we were.
Still drizzling here on the house, but seems to be lifting a little.

Might be time for that elusive siesta in a few.......

Good to see you, Pcola!
Me and Lady Pott (and others) have been involved in planting there for about 16 years !
Trying to re-create a forest that was there a long time ago. But the land is degraded, though getting better.
Nice project.

Well done Pott.

Well, I had to accompany Lady P. to the plant shop.
She needed 3 bags of horse-manure.....
Drove there and back in heavy rain, offloaded the wet bags of HM in the rain, checked the levels of all cisterns and tanks in the rain, diverted some water-flow from one place to the other in the rain.

Oh, did I mention that it's raining?
Well, it is you know. An inch and a quart. so far. Constant drippy drizzle with sometimes heavy.

Now it's time for a hot shower and a glass of Medicinal Grog.
Yes. I know it's early. But one MUST take the medicine. Whether one wants to or not. Doctors orders, and all that.
To ward off the Lurgy.

Pottery, I really do think that both you and RTLSNK should consider ponies for the grand children. Would save a lot of manure hauling. Yeah, you'd have to get the occasional bag of sweet feed, but it smell better in the car.

I am taking my medicine early today as well. Just to make sure I don't get busy and forget.

Evening: Most of the tree parts are picked up along with the leaves. Gradually things are returning where possible. Town's delayed Christmas Tree lighting and concert tonight followed by a kids parade with Santa on our 1929 pumper. Our version of " Whoville. "

40 F., 90 % RH with wind normally followed by frozen nose and toes. Since my GF sings with the choir attendance required. I see Rum Martini in the evening to ward off the chill.

Good to hear that although I know it will be a long time until things are "back to normal" for many.

The chill? Well, yeah, but have two...for the lurgy, which I hear is even worse than wet, sticky, manure!
