Cold front is headed this way tonight.
Supposed to be 36 here Mon night!
No snow yet. :)
Still tucked under the edge of the clouds here but sun cleared them in time for sunset.
Turkey Fajitas for supper tonight.
Still honking here in the upper keys. Was on the bayside most of the afternoon at Mangrove marina facing the north. The parking lot was a lake all the storage sheds were flooded with about a ft of salt water. Tom called me mid morn and said he was going to the patches(oceanside) to fish and check our traps and do I want to go, I said nick off. (Hello it's blowing about 30 gusting to 40) Any who he went and checked our stone crab traps, got slapped going there from the bay to oceanside. Oceanside was in the lee somewhat, he ended up getting about 24 claws 12 of which were jumbos, me, I was watching a movie. I thought he was joking when he said he was going out. Kicked his azz so much he didn't fish (eye roll) :)
Anyway just ate some of the jumbos, click pop fizz slurp,
Could go for some claws myself!
Thinking I'll go watch a movie too, then wait for the 11pm update.
Have a great night!
Have a good nite Rob
I am going to weather watch as I do, the boy is sleeping due to a wobbly boot and steering a boat in crappy weather.
Big change in a week.
Forecast is 44 for Tues. night.
Of course, they said that with the last cold front to and it only hit 59. I usually add 11 degrees to the lows when the cold front comes through and it's usually pretty close.
I also add a little to the wind forecast because they are always too low.
Gonna drink my sleeping potion and take my benedryl. Should kick in right after the NHC update.
Feels good to be out from under the clouds. Moon is nice.
I'm looking at a possible low of 36F Monday night.
Ranger Myleghurts is looking at 32F.
:)
That is not the weather change I had in mind.
Deep diving cold front = ballyhoo huddled up on shallow reefs = sailfish following them into the shallows = WOO HOO!!! :)))
:)))
Wow, 7.7 quake NW of BigFish and 20 aftershocks so far.
No word on his blog yet.
From about page 19 on. Orca and family are OK.
That's good news.
Time for a nap b4 daylight breaks.
:)
Any Volcanos yet this morning?
How about clouds? We could use some clouds. Or some breeze. We feeling kind of 'left out' down here, you know!
I will drink another cup of Stimulant, and Cogitate on the matter.....
Had to clean the coffee off the screen after that one!
Glad to know Orca is okay. Waiting to hear from YCD.
Pottery, I saw something interesting about an eruption in Hawaii a couple days ago. Other than that, I don't know.
Mayor of NYC doesn't like supersized anything. He's about to get a lesson in supersized storms. Heard no evacuations because it's not gonna be a hurricane at landfall. That's just a technicality.
Stupid is as stupid does!
65 sunny breezy.
How are preps going where you are?
I know you are taking this seriously. How about other folks?
As for NYC, I wouldn't want to be in lower Manhattan if utilities and subways flood and the power is out for a week!
Just saw your update on Orca's blog.
Thanks!
Stay in touch when you can so we know you guys are okay.
I know you're likely to have a crazy couple days.
Be safe!
I could take that a lot further...but, dat'l do.
:)
Bloomberg is about to get an education in math.
8 plus 32 = 40
Edit:
Make that 11 plus 32 = 43
Que Steven Spielberg...exit stage left
Yeah, I was being nice.
Actually I wouldn't want to live in NYC at all, but that's a personal preference I guess. I like my wide open spaces.
I imagine there is a lot of truth in that last sentence. We think of the lives lost and the loved ones left behind, we think of the financial loss and the change to the landscape, but not so much the loss of knowledge and experience.
Good point.
Really appreciate the info Goofy.
A lot here depends on the exact track. We won't really have a good handle on that until after Sandy makes the turn. 50 miles makes a huge difference on surge. Wind damage will affect a large area though.
I was going to say the earthquake swarm had slowed down but then I checked USGS:
5.1 2012/10/28 16:17:04 52.380 -131.664 15.0 QUEEN CHARLOTTE ISLANDS REGION
Darn!
Have not seen any reports of injuries or damage from the 'quake nor the small tsunami. Now back to dreaded fascinating (from here) Sandy.
Don't forget to bring a newspaper. It helps pass the time.
What a depressing thought!
:o)
Good to see ya Gro!
YCD,
NO, I haven't heard of anything major, just some power outages.
Thanks for checking in!

Sweet!
Time?TIME??
Who has time these days to 'pass'....
Not me, No Siree.
Spent the day re-organising my work-shed.....
And it's 94F again today, so I had to drink a couple beers to prevent dehydration, which meant that my tools were never where I thought they were and the nails kept jumping around exposing my finger to the hammer-blows of life while there were calls from a higher authority to perform complex tasks like moving a barrel of clay which weighs 1000 tons and helping offer up a newly made lamp-shade on a beam 12' up while balancing on a chair which is on the table. (you dont need to know, trust me...)
So, no newspapers.....
It's now a lovely evening, so all is well.
Except in NY where 370,000 people are being evacuated as the transit system shuts down. Way to go, Mr. Mayor !
A large area of cloudy stuff is coming this way, out in the Mid-Atl.
I will be sprinkling a variety of potents upon the parched ground, lighting weird candles, performing copius contortions and generally encouraging this bunch of clouds to come this way.....
Who has time these days to 'pass'....
Not me, No Siree.??????
Well, alrighty then.
But if you explode like a fermenting whale being towed through the streets of Taiwan, don't say he didn't warn you.
Who's gonna clean that up?
:)
"Ranger Myleghurts"
Had to clean the coffee off the screen after that one!
Then we're even.
That's what you get for giving me the mental image that is stuck in my mind of Ranger Myleghurts bouncing through the back yard with a butterfly net singing "A Prius for everyone".
Wait a minute, I must have missed that one!
I was bouncing on the bed with the butterfly net
trying to catch Apple Fritters. :)
Good thing the overhead fan was off at the time too.
And what's a Prius anyway?
57*F in Macon right now headed to 41. No snow yet. :)
"Explode like a fermenting whale being towed through the streets of Taiwan".
OK, that's it, we have all been hanging around Pottery too long.
We never used to talk like this. Did we?
Gee, I don't remember, that is probably good. :)
Today 95 lbs of dog decided to leap up on the bed and make sure I was okay. His stomping around made me think RTLSNK was leaping for fritters in my house.
Yeah, I must say that one made me guffaw pretty loud.
Set the dog to barking, the cat to running away, the wife to leave the room shaking her head.
The night is filled with Loud Sounds.
Either it's a full blown Battle going on in the village, or the Natives are Revolting (well, they are, you know), or it's fireworks and bamboo canons being set off in celebration of Divali.
The Moon is as bright as day outside.
Not a blemish in the sky....
And anyway, he took that totally out of context.
Which was pretty clever, all the same.
Good one, Sheph !
heheheheheheh
I had no idea.
Thought it was November.
PS...I'll pass the stir stick to you now Lord Pottery.
I mentioned RTL's post to Orca.
Didn't mention that Shep started it.
I don't want him aiming for Shep, overshooting and getting snow on me!
Gotta rest my eyes.
Be safe...see ya tomorrow.
-Hood Out.
Unfortunately, yes, I do know. :(

And it didn't start last night..

I must take this opportunity to applaud you for your civility and bearing.
It is a pleasure to know you, Sir.
Yae, though it is truly a Badge of Honor to be singled out for such misfeasance upon this pirate vessel, I would direct the Captain's uncertain attention to post# 228.
However, I the pigeon-chested Steward of lame fisherman and rescuer of recherche wenches in distress, proudly walk the plank alone and take with me to the depths of Davy Jones' Locker this tattered, bejeweled, haunting copy of my favorite Siren's tune as coins for the ferryman.
My eyes were to blurry from Sandy to be relied upon yesterday.
My Apologies Mr Theshepherd.
Was actually just poking the Snake with a stick but didn't work because his internet is down.
:o)
first part, gray and windy.
second part, sunny and windy.
Today, more windy!
Then again. That probably comes as no surprise to you.
Everyone knows it's windy!
What part of NY are they in?
Yes indeed.
But never once did I say it was dull and boring, down here....
In fact, my "list" always starts with 'keep yer hed down and carry a big stick while watching over yer shoulder at all times'.
So far, so good.
:):))
November 13.
But we need to start the party early, you know.
The Refineries are filled with oil, and the Distilleries are filled with rum.
It would be Untraditional and Unseemly to have either money or rum left over, after any holiday.
Dont stop the Carnival.......
