Welcome to The Ark

Welcome!

Things that make you go Ooops!

Your favorite mistake.

Things you always knew to be true that turned out to be not so much.

Surprising realizations.

Funny historical stuff.

Stuff that scared you senseless but was funny afterwards.

Things learned the hard way.

Keep it clean, friendly, and have fun!

Think I'm staying away from Doc's blog for a week or two.
Tired of all the GW fights, stupid political attacks, and Monday morning quarterbacking.

I said something about the NYC mayor not taking it serious enough after his first press conference before Sandy and was told I didn't know what I was talking about. Of course, now the same folks want to crucify him.

As for NHC...it's a mute point. Anyone who watched the news at all knew it was coming and what could happen. In fact, there were many accusing the media of over-hyping the storm.

The info was there for anyone who chose to believe it. The region had been too lucky for too long. No matter what you say or do, a percentage of people will ignore it or not believe it will happen to them or not believe it can be as bad as they say.

Could some things have been done better? Probably. Would it have made a difference? Maybe...maybe not.

Anyway, that's my take. Very weary of hearing about it so I'm staying here.

Good Morning Ski!

Yeah, that one has been popping up with every landfalling storm this year. With Debbie they were saying it was Bayshore Blvd in St. Pete.

I heard there are approximately 10 million rats in NYC.

Uh???

How many million drowned in the underground flooded infrastructure?

As if the NYC residents don't already have enough distress in their lives at the moment, what's that going to smell like after the pumps are finished?

OMG...my heart goes out.
:(

my guess is prolly very few, rats from a sinking ship comes to mind.

There was a 100ft wooden schooner at the wharf and it started sinking. The rats that came off that was astounding. What didn't get to the dock swam and made it. Those little buggers know every escape route possible.

I have yet to watch an underworld movie, I just got the first at the pawn shop yesterday, gotta be something to it cause they are popping out a few. Just like resident evil which I think is bloody fantastic.

Ha!
Cadillac should have been a clue!
Those are snowbirds who have their legal residence in FL for tax purposes!

One flake of snow and they all head south. The roads here(upper keys) today were a bloody nightmare, granted one road in one out. I am thinking is it the weekend or what? Then it came to me 'snow'. Went to the store anyone would think a storm was coming. The lady in front of me says is this the weekend. Going to be chaos from now to till they leave.

Thanks Bogon!
Happy Halloween to you as well. Angie dressed as a pyrate girl for the Halloween party at work. Came out and asked what I thought. I said I thought she wasn't taking my fancy rapier to work! She proceeded to wield the thing in my directions (still sheathed) and I threatened to take it away and spank her with it!

She didn't think that was funny. Wish I'd had taken a photo so I would have a Halloween pic to post for you guys.

Pottery,
No, just the normal money services rendered that comes in around the first of the month. At least Sandy didn't blow any of my money away. That's a big plus over some past storms.

Big pressure changes here today gave me a headache. Thought I was getting rid of it until I got out on the highway. Idiots swarming everywhere and it's not even November.

Anyway, looks to be a train of moisture heading your way.
Hope it works out well for you.

Greetings Pottery!br>Good news is some money found it's way into the checking acct. Need to go do some shopping.

Back in a while.

Did it blow in there with Sandy ?
In any case, that's Brilliant.

I'm looking East and South...
Spent the morning down in the Wild Fowl Trust (south of here) and the sky turned quite nasty with loud rumblings and a stiff southwest wind.
A few puddles on the driveway when we got home.
Came home and checked the maps...

GLORY BE, there be clouds coming in!

Its good to be back online. :)

Felt isolated and out of touch with the world.

41.4*F was the low here at 0800 hours, no snow yet.

Still NW winds at 8 to 10 mph.

Gardens are shut down untill we hear back from the lab.
More and more of SugarBears plants are dying.
They better hurry up before she torches all four gardens.
She asked me if I had a flame-thrower in the garage.

I said no, but I do have a big turkey fryer unit. LOL

YOIKS ! Bad Stuff.

My Dear Fellow, this is a Disaster of Unmitigated Extent.
What's going on?
When do you get the report from the Plant Path. people?

If there were a die-off like that around here, I would be faced with a Very Unpleasant Situation. Namely, Lady Pott.

I wish you well, and look forward to you maintaining your equilibrium in these Most Trying Times.

BAH , to unwanted life-forms.

Crazy windy again here today.
Lake Wind advisory in effect.

Parts of the yard have as much spanish moss on the ground as grass!

Gasp!
Your wind gauge broke?

No problem...toss one back up on a branch.
