41 years if I'm not mistaken.
Quite the accomplishment.
some stuff has been training nearby for the last hour of so.
Little innocent looking cell blowing nearly twice as hard as anything we had from Isaac. Not going out in it to measure, but I'm estimating about 60 mph.
Up since 4 am.
Thoughts and prayers going out to those affected by Isaac.
Take good care!
Oops. I done went and spilt music on em'...
:)))
Hope all stay well as Isaac continues his little "adventure".
Not much hit Orlando. A brief tornado "watch" touted as a tornado "warning" (I wish the local weatherdude could understand the difference) makes people complacent for when the dreaded "hook" hits the screen and things get ugly fast. But then, I'm just a country boy :)
talent
"Sheet Music" always appreciated!
Slow around these parts. Reckon everyone is hunkered down and watching the storm. Parents rode this one out on Manasota key. Mom said she's never seen waves like that on the west coast.
yesterday that dropped tons of rain over the area.
Looks clear today so far today.
Isaac had to be more than a Cat 1 last night.
Still tons of rain coming in.
You are an engineer, so you can appreciate the physics of it.
Isaac is Huge, Once you get that much wind and water moving it doesn't slow down much when it hits land. Will take quite a while to wind down. As it does, it will likely spread out.
(no I'm not going to use the skater analogy, it's been overdone)
That station is about 70 miles SE of current center.
Will check it throughout the day. Big wave!
Thank you, my friend !
Lady Pott says "Tell him I appreciate that very much. Especially since no-one else remembered!" :):))
All's well.
I hope our fellow bloggers and friends in the affected areas are safe and hunkered down.
I hope Isaac does not have anymore tricks up his sleeve.
I think I am indecisive about that, but really not sure.....
Edit,,,, forgot the tune.....
Pottery, maybe I should have sent you a reminder, but I did mention it about 10 days ago. Hope you aren't in too much trouble. I do realize you have a lot to distract you at the moment. Give our love to the Lady!
Ossqss,
You know, I really expected RTLSNK to take that and run with it, with a story about General Whatnot!
Yeah, hoping the best for friends in harms way.
Thanks!
Nice tune!
I did think it was a little odd for the Captain of the Ark to promote himself to a General instead of an Admiral but since having an Ark in the middle of Florida is already a little odd I thought it best to let sleeping dogs lay a little bit longer to see if Pottery would pick up on that little peccadillo and enlighten us with some historical facts and whatnot about Admirals who became Generals or Generals who became Admirals and so on and so on adinfinitum.
OK, anyone who can say that sentence without taking a breath wins an Apple Fritter.
Hmmm, odd that I should mention Apple Fritters.
They go really good with coffee. I have coffee.
I have Apple Fritters. What a great idea. Bye for now.
Pottery, you didn't really forget your Wed Anv did you?
heheheheheh, no I remembered before she did, at the Squark of Dawn, while I presented her with her tea in bed, accompanied by a kiss on the Sleepy Cheek.
But by Mutual Agreement, all Celebratory Whatnots are Postponed until September!
Celebrations include, but are not limited to--
- a couple of days in the Mountain Retreat.
-a couple of strolls into the Deep and Dark Forest.
- an evening at a nice Italian place, where you get to sit down and have people wait on you, hand and foot.
- etc etc etc.
:):))
Nope!
I'm not a general.
Pottery,
Glad you didn't actually forget.
Nice save!
Looks to be a long day here...
Actually, she was still asleep......
That's how I got my Greeting in, first.
Spent the morning cleaning the inside of a 400 gal plastic tank.
Fortunately, the top comes off.
But really, even on it's side it's a pain in the lower regions, and hotter than a chula.
Enough to make a man think of Forests and rivers and waterfalls.
Time soon come......
And woodland nymphs, and tall, cool drinks, and...
Darn it Pottery, how am I to get any work done with you putting thoughts like that in my head!
Hmmm, chula, not a term I was familiar with. So of course
I goolged the word chula. There were 45,100,000 entries.
There were two definitions that might apply to your comment above.
1. a hot girlfriend.
2. a tarantula.
Hmmm, lets try those in your sentence.
1. and hotter than a hot girlfriend.
2. and hotter than a trantula.
I think I would prefer sentence number one!!!
heh heh heh
:o)
(and the rest of you will have to go over to Todd's blog to figure out what the heck he's talking about)
Hotter than a pink-toed spider on tarmac at the moment.
Over here we call them "restaurants".
Woo Hoo :)))
Couldn't resist that one...
"Hotter than a pink-toed spider on tarmac "
Now, that's hot.
:))
LOL
Maybe they get a manicure and a foot massage???
Night folks...rest well!
Getting a late start this morning, temp is already 75, might be a good morning to cut the lawn, spray the weeds, and kill some fire ants. They are still moving to high ground areas. Found a long line of them that were moving up the driveway, up the front stairs, across the front porch, into one of the big flower planters by the front door.
Not any more! heh heh heh
RTLSNK, I wondered where you were!
Have grass to mow here as well. Problem is that it hasn't dried out enough. Didn't rain last night, so maybe today is the day.
Temperature
92.8 °F
Feels Like 118 °F
Good thing I tackled all the muck lastnight (on ponies & behind barn).
I'm leaving something post 1980s.. It's actually from one of the shows I ran off to see last weekend. They usually play one cover..y'all should know this one:)
Figured you'd gone on a Phishing trip! Glad you had a good time. Good Tune!
I have been enjoying the afternoon rains and it sure cuts the air conditioning bill, but we do pay for it when it turns to a steambath the next morning!
Thanks!
'Chula'-- a traditional Indian (East Indian) fireplace, made of earth/mud.
But the word is also used here to describe a particularly hot chick.
So, Snakeymon got it.
Well done, my Dear Fellow !
It's Independence Day here. 50 years since we ousted the British. Actually, they were particularly pleased to leave, I believe. So the Nation is having a Party.
In the meantime, the radio says that if it does not stop raining in Diego Martin valley NOW, the river will overflow again.....
Hot and dry here overhead, scattered cloud, but rather black and dismal over the City. Nothing to see on the maps....
Hanging window-shutters in the Studio today.
Hot and sweaty morning.
Yep, pony gal...all us "old" dudes know that one.
:)))
Topped off a great meal at Bonefish Grill with Creme Brulee and black coffee for dessert.
...Yes snakerdoodles, we had bait for dinner.
:)))
They didn't want to face our Most Fortunate and August Lord Pottery, I'm sure.
:)
> )))">
Alright! I'm here for a good time but not a long time.
Time to get up.
There's decks to swab, rigging to secure, poop decks to flush.
In the meantime, Leslie is being sucked by Kirk.
Northward, you see, in his slipstream.
Had three quarters of the yard mowed yesterday when
I noticed the path I had just mowed wasn't cut. Belt
came off the cutter unit without making a sound. Had
to send it to the shop to be repaired. Of course it
couldn't happen in the back yard, had to be the left front. :)
Happy Independence Day Pottery!
Today I pull the 2nd Strawberry Patch out of the garden.
Gee, you don't suppose the little snaky snaky moved
over to that strawberry patch do you?
I shall take the appropriate "tools" with me today!
heh heh heh
If you hear loud noises coming from Macon today,
pay no attention. :)
"Crow prices have undergone a steep increase today as wunderbloggers buy stock for personal consumption.
When contacted for comment, Capt. Hood claimed it was all because of Whatnot and Stuff.
This last comment had an immediate effect on several people who had sold Crow Futures recently, and set them to jumping off their roofs.
Meantime, Seagull stocks have soared. "
tic...tic...tic...tic...
:)))
:)
Was leaving you there part of the deal? ;-))
Lots of music & Whatnot...cool.
Some of you get up a little too early. It is a holiday weekend, you know. Pottery seems to be spending way too much time on Doc's blog. It turns your mind all mushy and stuff after a while. Others have reported strange craving for scrawny black fowl.
Actually, I don't care what Leslie and Kirk are up to, as long as they head poleward and leave folks alone. Leslie has gone and gotten itself surrounded by increasing shear. Good way to get your head lopped off. Happy to see a little more SAL off Africa that will help to keep whatever dives into the Atlantic next under control. I know a lot of folks live for this stuff, but I am beyond ready for the season to be over with and for cooler weather. We are one calendar page closer at least.
The day looks to be chock full of menial tasks, but will check in periodically!
Hope you all have a really great weekend.
BTW...Skye says it's a good time to brew beer. Giving that consideration.
Hmmmm...
I never gave that any thought.
Worth considering.
Maybe I could claim some kind of Compensation.
Retribution, I think it's called ?
It's 95, with a heat index of 107.
This is not Florida or Georgia, you know ?
This is a small tropical island, with balmy breezes. Or it used to be....
I think Compensation for that, is in order as well.
Where's the Resident Lawyer?
Playing out in the Strawberry patch with the Serpents, probably.
What a life.
Beats golf, I guess.
