Welcome to The Ark

Welcome to the 4th annual "The Ark Music Festival"

This is something that we've done every year for the past 4 years. Find your favorite tunes and post a YouTube, talk about your favorite bands or songs, post an inspirational lyric, or just hang out, listen to the tunes and chat.

It's always good clean fun.

For those who don't know how, or have been having issues posting videos, I've updated the help files. Just click here and read post number 6.

Here is a link to the previous blog.

They are doing good, but need Attention all the time.

Going to look at Isaac>>>>>>>>>

Well that's what you get for hiring a bunch of cuties instead of a band of brutes!
:o)

Yes the precip will definitely happen. I also think that Isaac (or at least the bulk of convection) might be nudged south of track, at least in the short term.

Greetings !

Been as busy as a swarm of wasps around here.
Yesterday was 95F which was a Record Heat for the day.
Today is a little overcast, but I am sure we will get some Torrents during the next 48 or so.

Have a young Lady moving in to the Cottage tonight for 3 days.
So you know how it goes. The List, I mean...... :):))

Morning Arkers!

Veggie garden is finished finally.

Moving stuff around from one garden to the other today.

Some things she planted were supposed to be small,
they are now monsters.

Some things she planted were supposed to be big,
they are little bitty things.

Have you ever planted a Yucca Plant?
The thing multiplies itself like a rabbit.
I think there are seven of them now. :)

Morning Arkers,

Even though Isaac is still a ways a way, it's sure making me nervous. Going to do my pre storm stuff today, get gas, make ice, get beer.

Getting a break from the heat where I am. Sorry about the stalled front over you.

LOL

Happens. Was grateful for the shower around 6 to cool things down. After that it got kinda ridiculous!

Oh well, don't have to worry about watering the plants for a few days!

Glad you are catching a break.
This summer has been worse for my friends to the north than here in the sunshine state.

Take good care!

Hey Bogon!

Sorry, got caught up in Doc's blog for a while, ignoring my own.
Thanks for the songs! Good choices!

Getting a break in the weather finally. Looks to be just light stuff for the rest of the night. Might try to get some sleep.

Might be a long week!

Had about a 30 minute break with just drippy stuff.
Raining hard again.

Lightning not too close this evening, so far.
(knocking on wood)

Really don't want the phone lines knocked out with a potential hurricane in the back yard...

Thunderstorms training since 6 pm with no end in sight.
Over 2 inches already today.

Don't mind the rain so much but keep getting chased off the deck by the rumblies.

After today, I really need some deck time.

Good morning RTLSNK.

You know it's gonna snow a week before harvest, right?

Nevermind...proceed as per the list.
:o)

(wonder if she'll ever run out of ways to keep that guy outta trouble?)

Morning Rob,

Well, today is the day, SugarBear ordered 3 cu ft of Worm Castings to go in the gardens and it arrived yesterday.

For those of you that have not followed the SugarBear Garden Story for the last four years, Worm Castings is the polite name for WORM POOP. It seems that it is the best fertilizer you can get for your gardens.

It is actually just the compost that the worms have been living in and when the worm farm harvests all the night crawlers to sell them to the bait shops for fishing bait, they gather up the compost and sell it to gardeners. What a business, the worm farmer not only sells the worms but the dirt as well.

My job today is to mix that stuff in with the mushroom compost, the cow manure compost, the vermiculite, and the peat moss that I mixed up yesterday and put it in the empty strawberry patch garden so SugarBear can plant winter veggies in it.

Yes, I know its not winter yet, and you know its not winter yet, but thats what is on my honey-do list for today so there it is then. :)

Nothing quite like waking up to tropical mischief with tracks passing on either side of you!
Of course, I rather expected that.

Won't get too worked up about it until we see if it avoids bashing itself against the big rock of Hispaniola.

Still, guess I'd better stock up on sleep the next couple days.

Oh...Good Morning!

Weather strangeness.

About an hour ago, I noticed the wind really kicking up. Pulled up the radar as I listened to bits of tree hitting the roof expecting to see a big red bow. To my surprise...nothing.

Zoomed in and about 1 red pixel right over the lake. In the next frame (5 minutes) it had grown into a full fledged storm.

Rained pretty good for a while. Goes to show, even the latest and greatest won't always let you know what the weather is gonna do until it gets there.

Bright & sunny again.

Ain't that the truth!
At least yesterday it was windy here. Not so much this morning.
I need to get out and mow the grass today. Maybe it will cloud up a bit. (wishful thinking)

Hey Arkers

Thanks for the birthday wishes

Did a 20 mile pub crawl yesterday, started at the hungry tarpon for breakfast and went from there. Was going to drop in last night but had the wobbly boot so kept off the blog before my mouth got me in trouble

Here ya go, they are less than an eighth of an inch long and they don't fly, they jump on your legs and bite for blood just like mossies. They look like little tiny blood sucking shrimp. :)

Morning Arkers!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GAMMA!!!

Hey Goofy - could be another nasty little biter.
There was a section of beach in Dania Fla that was
infested with something called sand fleas. Took my
son fishing there one day and we got eaten alive
before we could get the heck out of there. Nasty
bites just like you described. Deep Woods Off didn't
even stop them from biting you. Will look them up
later for you.

Thunderstorm again at 0400 hours this morning.
Doesn't it rain in the daytime anymore?

Oh, thanks Pottery, thats all I need, Anacondas. :)
Ever see that documentary on the guy who went looking
for the giant Anacondas in South America somewhere?
Captured a 30 footer. Scary.

The above few songs have been random YouTubes that I came across that I like.

This one is special.
Fighting all the demons will take time.
I'm always gonna worry about the things that could make me
cold.

Goodnight friends!

Just had another of those long phone calls from oldest daughter where I spend an hour listening and validating her feelings, telling her everything is gonna be alright.

No big deal...just issues with her mother that she needed to vent about.

Still...I might need to find a dark quiet corner to crawl into.

Mossies?

Or this?

Hopefully not this!

I'm betting this!

They've been bad here too, but not so much as other years.
Fortunately it's still pretty windy tonight.

Subject: MOSSIES
This year we seem to have found a new version of Jersey Skerter. Smaller quicker and more deadly. Porch life here is a treasure in the summer. Sit watch the sun cross over the quarterdeck and well .. Such was life in June and up to the third week in July. Then MOSSIE explosion. We are calling the the experts from the Combined Eradication Exfoliating Cell to deal with the pest. Last night in desperation a pheromone pulse photon blaster was installed. Seems the wee beasties had begun to assault the guests and babies. These bites grew to inch or more in DIA. Oddly some are immune. But for others, Even an ocean of Calimine lotion does not cure the itch, the swelling nor the red appearance hickey like in nature. Since we are at the beach, it is hard to explain the welts, other than the MOSSIE.

The answer is:
A new creature RTLSNK will have to deal with if he ever gets around to installing those water features that SB was contemplating.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WATERSKI!!!

First thunderstorm woke me up at 0330

Second thunderstorm woke me up at 0430

Third thunderstorm woke me up at 0530

Had coffee and apple fritters at 0545

Why go back to sleep

All that rain might drown The Rattler.
Now, just be careful.
Anacondas love bogs......

How can you see into my eyes like open doors?
Leading you down into my core where I’ve become so numb
Without a soul my spirit's sleeping somewhere cold
until you find it there and lead it back home

(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside
(I can’t wake up)
Wake me up inside
(Save me)
call my name and save me from the dark
(Wake me up)
bid my blood to run
(I can’t wake up)
before I come undone
(Save me)
save me from the nothing I’ve become

now that I know what I’m without
you can't just leave me
breathe into me and make me real
bring me to life

There's so much left to learn
and no one left to fight
I wanna hold you high and steal your pain.
